But I thought if you were carrying an object and were making an attack you had to use the object

The current rulings state that while carrying an object, a figure can make his normal ranged attack w/o having to throw the objec. On figures like Crimson Dynamo, this means he can make a normal ranged attack(including RCE).
However, you cannot throw the object and gain the benefits of RCE at the same time.
If, however, you attack with a close combat attack while carrying an object, you must use the object.
First off I would like to say that I am not disagreeing with what people are saying about how you can't use RCE/CCE and willpower. I just think that it is really dumb. I can understand powers like RS, SS, Charge, EE etc., those powers are affected by CCE/RCE directly. I just don't get why it doesn't work with willpower, perplex, etc. They don't affect the attack directly (I know that some of you will say that with perplex you could make someones damage astronomical, well in a couple of games I had Dooms damage up to 9 and thats without RCE so it doesn't make much of a difference). Anyway thats my 2 cents.

BUT!
Not all the time.
Yes, I see the puzzled faces...(which, but the way, is the reason why WizKids needs to get this ruling stuff together!!!)
But yes, you can (at least from what I've read here in the posts) combine Super Strength with RCE.
"Huh?" you say!
According to a post floating among the thousands here, you may make a ranged combat attack with RCE and still carry an object.
And before you all get real argumentative and start yelling like you did at poor Zero, I'd suggest you hunt down the post and read it...it was within the last month or two. So this begs the question "When is a superpower 'in use'?"
Theoretically, you cannot Outwit an opponent, then use RCE on that Outwitted figure, by these standards. Nor can you Perplex down your opponent's defense, then use RCE (believe it, Lancelot, because the power is still active when you attack with RCE). Nor, really, could you Mind Control an opposing fig., then make a RCE attack with that figure. Weird, huh? This is such a quagmire of unintelligible rulings (some stuff works, some doesn't...carrying an object doesn't mean using Super Strength, blah, blah) that I'm at a LOSS to explain it all. AGAIN, LET ME BE CLEAR. I DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE TO CHECK NEW RULINGS EVERY TWO WEEKS THAT CHANGE THE GAME. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, AND TOO MANY FRICKIN' LOOPHOLES ARE BEING CREATED EVERY TIME WIZKIDS ATTEMPTS TO "FIX" A RULE. When tournament judges can't agree on rulings because they have no definitive guideline...then people will stop playing tournaments, like me. I need to see the same rules in every venue to believe that this game will work in a tournament setting. SOMEONE needs to set this stuff straight from the top on down and then maybe, just MAYBE we can stop these rules debates that dominate half this website.
'Nuff said.
Wait, no, one more thing. You know-it-alls out there, ripping Zero and MikeCrazy up on these issues, maybe you should stuff it in your piehole for a sec, and understand the argument. These guys are pointing out, albeit not in their posts, but just by posting, exactly what's WRONG with this rules system. The exceptions and loopholes are mind-numbing. At least THESE guys are questioning it, and not grazing like brain-dead sheep out to pasture. THINK once in awhile....you don't have to drink down these rules like milk from Mommy. Slap the teat outta your mouth and SPEAK UP if you question this stuff. It's the only way the game'll get better.
That's all.
If you disagree, great. At least you have an opinion.
These guys are not pointing out loopholes, they are trying to create them.
First I will state that I agree on the Superstrength/RCE argument. When you are carrying an object, you are patently using Superstrength and therefore cannot use your RCE, but the rules have been stated otherwise.
The rules are however very clear and concise on the willpower. The only power that the character using CCE/RCE may use is Probability control (and there aren't any w/ both powers yet but perhaps in a scenario?) The RCE/CCE fig cannot perplex, outwit, be the target of friendly perplex, or use any other powers including willpower. The attacking figure cannot have any numbers on their dial altered in any way. Another figure may, however may alter the targets dial w/ outwit or perplex. Team abilities may also be used in conjunction w/ RCE/CCE, except for superman enemy w/gives the outwit power and therefore follows the same guide as above. Team abilities such as: Sinister Syndicate/Batman Enemy, Shield, Hydra/Police, Injustice League/Masters of Evil, and Superman Team.
It is very clear so deal w/ it and by the way, get a dictionary or at least a spellchecker!!

I think you give them way to much credit. They are arguing about a specific rule (and arguing incorrectly at that!).
