I played Red and Silver and they were definitely in the "first gen". IIRC they were cloning/weaponizing pokemon or some such.

I'm young enough to have been a little into it when it first came out. The games are pretty addictive RPGs. I did recently try to watch an episode of the show when I noticed it on Netflix and it was pretty close to unwatchable.

I tell myself that I want to rewatch the series as an adult, but I find myself shutting off Netflix halfway through the episode that I start because it is so hard to sit through.

There's a list on the net that pares down the non-story episodes into a more palatable watch. Essentially it's the episodes where ash catches a Pokemon, evolves a Pokemon, or a gym battle.

Good then you have watched every episode since...Ash is still doing the same thing...team Rocket is still (their ineptitude belongs in a Hall of Fame at this point and the cost of their operations?? I watched the first two seasons of the show as a kid, and I remember liking them a lot then... but I wouldn't sit down and watch it now. Some things are best left to nostalgia.

The games, though, that's where its at. I'll probably be playing them until I go blind.
