So, I feel the term "must-win game" is overused, but this seems like a must-win for Toronto tonight. I don't see how they overcome a 3-0 deficit. And based upon games 1 and 2, they better get to Bauer because Cleveland's bullpen has been outstanding.
Looks like Kershaw can pitch in the postseason. I joke because small sample size deductions always drive me mad and comparing 17 postseason stats to 265 regular season stats is small sample size no matter how you try and couch your comments. Looks like this series could be pretty interesting.
well, we made that must win, but that was all the gas we had. thanks for a good run, jays!
now onto the cubs bandwagon for the rest of this playoffs

Toronto certainly has nothing to be ashamed of for their play this year. Sometimes you meet a hotter team that just plain outplays you. It happens and shouldn't reflect on their season, though of course there will always be that part of the fanbase that thinks anything less than a championship is a FAILURE!!!.
I'm torn on who to root for in the World Series but I think I'm leaning toward the Cubbies just because I can relate to the long wait - although Cleveland has waited quite a while as well. There are a lot of good people to root for on both sides so I guess I'm hoping for a close, well-played series of 7 games that Chicago pulls off with a great dramatic ending. That way my baseball fandom is fed as well
I feel for both teams. "Major League" draws me to the Indians. However, the Cubs have waited longer and I have been to some wonderful games in Wrigley, so I guess I'm rooting for the Cubs.
Next year: Orioles-Padres. The stars are aligning, the signs are right . . .
I'm actually leaning slightly towards the Indians... mainly because the Indians feel like a flash in the pan for this year, while the Cubbies are going to be this good for a long time. I.e. I think the Cubs will be to a WS a lot sooner (2017?) than the Indians.

Great game last night. Chicago took advantage of their opportunity in the 4th and Cleveland missed a couple of opportunities later. That's generally the difference in close games. That heavy usage of Chapman may come back to haunt Maddon though. I know Miller has been used heavily by Francona but he's at least got a history of starting in his past. I guess Maddon's thinking was if we don't win it won't matter. Hard to argue with him I guess -- unless you're Buck Showalter! Sorry Orioles fans, I couldn't resist , feel free to come back at me regarding Boston's sweep out of the playoffs.
No hard feelings from Orioles Nation, Mister Moose. This Chic-Cleve series has had some great baseball. Both teams are playing their hearts out. We are seeing my favorite aspect of high-level baseball -- key defensive stops to nullify hard-earned bases.

It really has been an enjoyable series. I'm still hoping for 7 games because I don't have a vested interest, but I can totally feel for the Cleveland fans who will be more than happy to lose out on an extra game of baseball if it means a championship.
I don't even want to know how the fanbases will react if it goes to a do-or-die seventh game. The universe might explode. And the hyperbole from some sportswriters will be nigh unbearable as they try to outdo each other.
Seriously, what a crazy game. Great for fans not from Chicago or Cleveland. That being said, congrats to the Cubs who definitely persevered to come back from a 3 games to 1 deficit. But congrats also to Cleveland who really had a wonderful year. Let's be honest, not too many people are really surprised that Chicago lived up to the pre-season hype. They have got a great team which will continue to be great for many seasons with their young core and strong farm system. However, who really expected the Indians to make the playoffs let alone come so very close to a World Series title?
As to the game, Maddon being Maddon almost cost them the title. Why take Hendricks out of the game in the 5th? He gave up a two-out single with a 4 run lead. He was pitching great and seemed well in control of the Indians lineup. Also, what is with the Baez bunt in the 9th? Plus, Chapman certainly seemed affected by the unnecessary load from game 6. I imagine I'm in the minority here but Maddon seems to manage in a way that will ensure he will be able to tell you how his unorthodox ways lead to great results. He always seems to want to be sure we know just how clever he is and it almost cost Chicago this game.
If I'm a Cleveland fan I look back at the two plays from Davis in center as ones you'd like to have done differently. If he sets up and makes an accurate throw in the 4th, then Bryant is out. Absolutely the right play to send Bryant there and force the throw but he is out with a good throw. Also, the play in the 10th where he allowed the runner to advance to second on the fly out. No way to know if the result would be different, but there is the chance Cleveland approaches the Rizzo at-bat differently if it's 1 out and man on 1st rather than 2nd. Completely likely that Rizzo gets a hit there if they pitch to him but it would have been fun to see.
All that being said, and not even commenting on the inconsistent strike zones from the series, the games were decided by the players. Cleveland played brilliantly but Chicago played just a bit better and that was the difference.
Still one of the best WS I've seen. Extremely enjoyable for a fan.
