Homefront made me think of The Man In The High Castle. (Pretty good series by the way.)
You've just reminded me... I watched the first episode... and maybe the second? I really need to finish that... (I'm a sucker for world-building like that)

The show was good, but the book is even better. There is a whole massacre that happened in Africa, thanks to the Nazis. Never gets mentioned in the show. Anyhow, still interested in S2 and seeing where it goes from there.

Very good. I love the alternate universe that is very plausible. I just saw this morning that the showrunner up and quit over differences with Amazon. I hope this doesn't affect season two. The show has potential to run a long time.
I know it's bad luck to say it, but I really want one of the two games I'm in to open.
I think that you just jinxed yourself, olde chum. Or did you?

So... over in TV Villains mafia the subject of the show Twin Peaks came up. It's one of the series that I somehow skipped, all of those years ago. Having read how it's become a cult classic with a faithful following, etc., I decided to give it a go on Netflix. I think that this a case of "high expectations/low satisfaction". I'm a few eps in on the first season and so far it's very "meh".
I think that the show has merit, but I am not geared towards it. I've never been a fan of David Lynch's, to begin with. His movies (such as Mulholland Drive) tend to annoy the heck out of me. He comes across as being weird for the sake of being frickin weird. It gets tedious.
Funny thing is that I have stayed at the Snoqualmie Falls Lodge (exterior of Twin Peaks' Great Northern Hotel). That's probably the only reason that I'll keep watching the show, assuming that there is nothing else on TV.

Twin Peaks is amazing, give it a chance. I don't think it's a weird show, it's just genre-less, and it's pretty great as a result. I also recommend watching it because they're making a continuation of the show, and it releases sometime next year.

I am giving it a chance, believe me, but it really is a chore. Fortunately the first season is just 8 episodes long. I am not sure why but David Lynch is one of the few directors/writers who tend to piss me off. Like the whole scene with the FBI agent's surreal dream that featured a weird-looking-and-talking midget in a red room. I just have to take it in small doses - and so far very under-impressed.
To be fair, I made myself sit through the excruciating, visit-to-the-dentist-to-get-a-root-canal mess that was Jessica Jones on Netflix. (The only saving graces of that series were the intro of Luke Cage to the Marvel TV universe and David Tennant who played one of the most loathsome villains ever. Then again, Tennant is brilliant, so there's that.)
I figure I owe Twin Peaks a better shot than I gave JJ.
