You must have at least 2 or more figures on your team. Highlander rule is in play -- in other words no duplicate figures unless they're generics. Questions? Be sure to ask and I'll be glad to help out!
Restrictions:
- None
Tournament Play:
TIMEOUT: At the beginning of each game both players will get to choose one figure from the opposing team that will sit this round out. Points will *not* be scored for figures that sit out the round.
Thumbed through a lot of team ideas - but something about Scarlet Spider said, "Use me".
Probably go with: Computer 3-d, Bookcase 3-d, and a heavy of some type - probably the Meteorite...
So how'd it go?
Round 1 was against a player I'd never faced before (having 12-16 players a night will do that). He is a friend of some of our other players. He brought:
SR Iron Man 165
SR Sersi
SF Wasp
SF Black Panther
C Captain America 50 (super leadership)
SR Ant-Man
I won map and chose to bench Sersi. The TK and Power Cosmic just made me feel leery and I figured the Iron Man was so obvious a choice to bench that there must be something I'm not seeing. He chose Venom to bench as I expected.
I chose the Lazarus Pit map due to my superior mobility. The first three rounds were my team marching across the entire map and he moved his team into the 3 square patch of hindering next to the starting area.
Okay, It was going to be this kind of game. I positioned Scarlet Spider Ben in hindering as bait. If he single-targeted Pulse-Wave, he'd be within my team's reach. If he tried for a longer shot, he'd need to hit a 19 Super-Senses.
He sent Ant-Man along one of the hallways. Hmm. I decided to have Kaine go wreck some face (and hoped for a SS fail). Shifting Focus Strange to Empower / +1 to hit, Kaine rushes in 12vs18 for 4. He nails the roll. Ant-Man fails the Super-Senses and eats 4 damage, putting him on his last click.
Iron Man chose TK and threw Black Panther near Kaine. Panther rushed in and, needing a 5 to hit, cut Kaine for 3 damage. Ant-Man seized the opportunity to attack and hit him, too.
I had to position my team closer to the actual fray as Iron Man was not biting to come tussle with Ben Reilly. I was able to get a shot off with Silk on Black Panther and his 16 defense at range. Strange side-steps into position. Silk RS, 11 vs 16. Need a 5, roll a 7 - and T'Challa takes 3 damage (2+1 for Enhancement).
He rolls breakaway and begins to retreat. It's probably turn 6 or 7 by now and the clock is ticking. Captain America launches his mighty shield and hits Kaine for 3, putting him on his STOP click. I hope Iron Man doesn't Running Shot up - and thankfully he doesn't. Instead, he uses TK to bring Wasp up to try and hit Kaine. 10 vs 18 - I have a prob via Silk and the attack fails. Whew!
Kaine regenerates and I roll a 6 so he heals for 2 damage (3-1) and is on a solid click. I have Strange fly Kaine out of there while Spider-Girl May RS's in and finishes off Black Panther who couldn't get far enough away.
30-0
With some great Leadership rolls, his team is back in the fray. Between Iron Man, Captain America and Wasp, my Banner Spider-Man falls and I'm losing 30-75.
I make Captain America my target as he has made 3 leaderships in a row. The combination of Strange and may work to drop him.
80-75. A close one!
Iron Man takes a shot with EE, trying to spread the damage - but his dice aren't helping him thanks to my PC and he misses.
Positioning Strange (and carrying Madame Web), I set up Silk with an 11 attack, 2 Probs for 3 damage to try and hit Ant-Man's 18 defense (at range). Silk shoots and she rolls 7, finishing off Ant-Man.
160-75
Since Iron Man had used EE, he no longer has any defense or movement powers - so I assign Kaine the job to hit that jerk. Flurry with 3 attacks is awesome.
Iron Man fails Shape-Change (which I now see he shouldn't have been able to use): 10 on an 18. Roll a 5. Prob with Madame Web. Roll a 7. Prob with Silk. Roll a 10. Blades for 3 damage. The second attack is a miss. Third try, fail. But a 17 Imperv is fine for Spider-Girl and her Psychic-Blast.
TIME!
1-0 but my point total is bad. As we clean up he tells me he just started playing. I say I kept wondering when that Iron Man was going to come blasting in with that 11/4. He decided he shouldn't have used him for TK so much.
Round 2 vs anderm - he just finished up college and is heading home. A nice guy, fun to play against so I'm glad I got a chance to face him one last time. His swan song team was ANIMALS:
Devil Dinosaur
Peter the Hunter
Frog of Thunder
King Shark
Lockjaw (GotG Rare)
Gertrude and Old Lace
Alyosha Kraven (Prime)
Lots of pog makers. He wins map and chooses a map with Elevated surrounding a pool of water.
I bench Alyosha, because moving another piece as a free action ain't gonna happen.
He benches Kaine.
Opening positions - I split my team in two, taking the elevated spots. Banner and Venom on one side. Strange, Silk, Spider-Girl, and Madame Web on another with Ben Reilly chilling in the center (not elevated).
Perplex twice and in comes King Shark. He ops to EW and tears a hole in Banner Spider-Man. I hem and haw on what to do - but opt for Banner Spider-Man to return the favor. Outwit Toughness (he fails SC) and make an Object Attack with the Bookcase. 10vs17 for 4 damage (2 base, Empower from Venom, and Light Object). Need a 7, roll a 7! King Shark is on a 16 defense with Invulnerability.
Spider-Girl is up after Strange positions (Enhancement / +1). 11 vs 16, psychic blast. Need a 5. Roll double 3's and King Shark is singing with the fishes.
90-0
Silk takes a shot at incapping the Frog, Lockjaw, and the Outwitting Pog. She rolls and hits a 20 (I love my Silk) and I KO the Pog.
90-0
His team approaches and I have a dinosaur, 2 Siblings, and Peter closing in on Madame Web and company. Meanwhile, Lockjaw takes a bite out of Banner Hulk and KO's him.
90-75
I can't have that Charge Blades Pog destroy my team so I use Dr. Strange to shoot him. 11 vs 17. Need a 6. Roll a 7. The POG is KO'd.
90-75
Ben Reilly comes running up and takes a shot at Peter and the Flurry Pog. He hits both and I split damage to hurt both. The POG is KO'd.
90-75
Lockjaw retreats and the Devil Dinosaur continues his side-step dance up the field. Old Lace pushes to attack Silk but Silk Super-Senses the attack and Gertrude takes the pushing damage. I get Venom up onto the elevated with the rest of the team to start sharing his 11 attack via Sin/Syn.
We are firing away at the approaching hoard. Devil Dinosaur poops out Elvis MODOKs. They all start shooting at Silk but her 18 defense is too much for his dice and he misses all 3 times.
My team is tied down by Old Lace and I just keep sending damage her way - with Gerturde eating click after click. She begins heading upfield (instead of staying in her starting area) to bring that Outwit to bear.
The MODOKS fire another barrage - pushing each time. He hits once out of 3 tries and Silk Super-senses right out of it. 3 MODOK Pogs KO'd!
90-75
What the hell? I've made a lot of attacks and there has been a battle and the only thing that counts for points is King Shark from turn 2?!?!?!
Devil Dinosaur takes a shot at Madame Web. He needs a 6 and gets it. I fail Super-Senses and she is KO'd.
90-99
Crap. How much time could be left? It's like turn 8 by now...
Ben blasts Peter for 4, putting him on his last click. The only person left is May - but she can't RS to hit the 18 defense and copy Venom's attack value. Do I risk it? Can May do it? Dummy, she says, Gertrude has a 15 defense...
She is right, I RS off the ledge and into range of Gertrude. 10 vs 15 with a prob. She gets the hit and Gertrude is extinct.
140-99
Venom attacks Old Lace and hits the 17, getting rid if that dang POG.
140-99
In comes Lockjaw, basing my whole team. This keeps Peter safe. Pete takes a shot at Dr. Strange and hits the 18 defense, KOing him and Peter returns to top click.
FUDGE.
140-149
My team gang-piles Lockjaw and Venom finishes him off, getting me a nice cushion (for now):
215-149
Devil Dinosaur starts pooping out Drop Bears. The first one swings on Silk but misses. The second swings on Venom and hits with a Crit Hit (no Super-Sense for you!). His blades roll is garbage (thank you!) and Venom takes 2 (1+1 for Crit).
TIME
I'm 2-0 but have less than 400 points through 2 games.
The final round I draw TMacaroni - my longtime friend and clix-brother. He wins map (nuts) and chooses the indoor bank map. His team is a themed team of Avengers with:
SR Quicksilver
Movie TWS Hawkeye (75)
50 point Super-Leadership Captain America
SF Wasp
SF Black Panther
80 point Banner/Hulk (the one that slides between the two)
SF Vision
Movie Scarlet Witch
ADW Iron Man (55 pts)
He sits my Dr. Strange (crap) and I sit his Hawkeye (mine, that he borrowed). The team is strong but that Hawkeye is my "I'm playing to win" figure and I know he will shred my team from 8 away.
Opening positions. His mobility is vastly superior to mine in this regard. Quicksilver drops off his white marker and swings on Kaine. He can't miss (I can't prob it) and Kaine can't get a Super-Sense so he is badly wounded (on turn 2). Banner Hulk is the other target and gets decimated, too. With little effort, Banner is gone.
0-75
Banner uses Perplex and Outwit and Kaine is on his STOP click and I have yet to make an attack. My team is just trying to close the gap. It's frustrating.
Scarlet Spider Ben has an awesome 18 defense with super-senses and yet Vision has no problem blasting him for 3, putting him on Charge and out of range of everyone.
His Banner turns into the Hulk and he bum rushes Spider-Girl. All his values are +2 thanks to Wanda and he crushes May for 4. I'm annoyed as hell and work on figuring out the math on how to take out this Hulk. (Move here, then here, share) Okay.
May - Sin/Syn the 11. CCE +1/+1. 12vs18 for 4 (Empower from Venom). She nails the 6 and Hulk fails Impervious. He takes 2. I send Venom in, the long way, running up to attack the Hulk. 11 vs 17, need a 6. I roll the 7 and decide against the blades roll, choosing to do the 1 (after Invulnerability). Kaine has regenerated 2: triple Flurry! With an 11 attack: First strike, need a 6. Roll a 5. Nuts. Second attack: Crit Miss. WTF!? Third try, Kaine nails the 6 and Hulk lands on Regeneration.
I have one action left and I have no choice - I decide to push Ben to try and finish the Hulk. I make sure he can share the Sin/Syn TA and 11 vs a 17 for 4 damage. Ben rolls a 9 and I am relieved the Hulk is dropped.
80-75
I have to clear, even while Silk takes a shot at Captain America - hitting him for 2. (At least it's something). Quicksilver heads back over and BAM/BAM, May Parker is KO'd.
80-150
Vision, Iron Man, and Panther work their magic and drop Venom.
80-225
Silk gets hit by Vision and I fail Super-Senses - so she takes 3. Kaine clears and I'm targeting that sneaky Outwitter, T'Challa. He charges in and with triple flurry, Black Panther is gone.
110-225 (At least I'm making it a game)
Iron Man lights up Ben Reilly.
110-305
This motivates Silk to go on a tear. She was hit to Regen and rolls a 6, putting her on her Super-Sense clicks. She then makes 4 Super-Sense rolls in a row, as Vision, Captain America, and Wasp blast away. Silk fires a blast into Cap, getting him to his final click. I'm trying to calculate how to get past that 18CR defense of Steves...
The Vision ruins everything by rolling a dang crit hit, and since Silk can't evade crit hits, she takes 4, KOing her. Dang.
110-375
I have Madame Web grab a light object. Wasp shoots her.
110-399
Kaine is hit to his Stop Click. I can only play the spoiler by waiting for time.
RCE, all to attack - from Wasp. Hit. KO.
110-474
2-1
My total points is less than build, again. Ugh. That puts me at the bottom of the 2-1's, as usual. I get an LE Speed Demon for my troubles.
I love using these Spider-Family pieces. Silk is always fun and why I use her on every Spidery-team I build. LE Kaine was outstanding. I heard some grumbles that he sucked because of the ASM version but the mobility and down dial triple Flurry is gross.
May was solid and I like her design. Ben was fine. I might try the 80 point Civil War Peter Iron Spider for the same cost to see which is better.
Venom was a piece I thought about getting rid of but I need Spidery guys with team abilities to make teams like this work.
Overall, though, Dr. Strange was insanely fun to use. I really need him on all my Marvel Hero teams because he does so much and is so enjoyable.
Next week is the Pre-Release for Avengers Infinity Giant Figures, so it will be a sealed report.
Thanks for reading!
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Today was the "big" Avengers: Infinity Sealed event:
This Pre-Release event will be a Battle Royale, 1 Booster draft. You'll pay the cost of 1 Avengers: Infinity booster and will be paired up with three other players in Battle Royale groups.
At the end of the event your group will place all of the figures you've played with into the center of the map and you'll snake draft those figures, along with some additional prizes I add into the prize pool.
Beforehand we'll pair off into two groups and have a bit of Avengers trivia where you'll be able to earn tournament advantages! At the end of the night whichever of the two groups scored more points, they will receive 3 points towards our Movie Madness event standings!
Update: I've finished up the advantages, which will be in the form of Infinity Gems that will be equipment that is placed at least 3 squares from your starting area. Each time your team answers a question right during trivia you'll get to choose an Infinity Gem. The gems will grant one of your figures the following powers:
* Soul Gem (green) - Character can use Steal Energy. When this character KOs an opposing figure heal 1 click.
* Power Gem (red) - If a character's range is 4 or less that character can use Close Combat Expert. If a character's range is 5 or more that character can use Ranged Combat Expert.
* Space Gem (purple) - Character can use Sidestep. When using it the character ignores other figures for movement.
* Mind Gem (blue) - Character can use Mind Control and Incapacitate. When they do they have +1 attack.
* Time Gem (orange) - Can use Shape Change and succeeds on a 4, 5 or 6.
* Reality Gem (yellow) - Character can use Probability Control, but only during your turn.
----------
Build:
Drafted 5-figure team.
Restrictions:
Only the figures you draft, along with 2 standard objects are allowed.
Prizes:
Snake Drafted figures, LEs and more!
Big Figures couldn't be played above 200 points.
The Trivia had stuff I actually knew, that was cool. We had 18 players - which is an amount most other venues would kill for. But I digress...
I chose the Power Gem and the Reality Gem. Eventually, I decided to stick with the Reality in hopes if everyone gang-piled me I could survive long enough to get some points.
In the Booster I opened it had:
Devil Dinosaur & Moon Girl
Her
Rocket Raccoon
Iron Patriot
Prime Javelin
Not a bad booster for sealed. Kinda crappy for a Battle Royale.
I opted to take Her, with the PC, Psy-Blast, Power Cosmic TA, and strong stats.
On the next go around, my choice was Nebula, non-prime Javelin, Black Widow, FireFly Rom Guy. I chose Nebula, hoping her top click could hurt someone.
On the third booster, I was staring at another Her, Black Widow, or someone else. Can't recall because Her x2 > everything.
Fourth Booster had a Ego generic and Black Panther 2099 - so I took Panther.
My starting booster came back around and I was handed Rocket Raccoon.
So my team was:
Nebula @ 125
Her 90
Her 90
BP 2099
Rocket Raccoon
We were in the old Asylum map - lots of halls. For 5 turns me and another player were allies. After 5 it was a free-for-all.
My ally had:
Sub-Mariner and Giganto
Devil Dinosaur and Moon Girl
Green Moondragon
Firefly ROM
Ego Generic
Our 2 opponents had:
Team 1:
Venom
Iron Patriot
Golden Skull
Black Widow
Starlord
Team 2:
Devil Dinosaur (with missing arm) and Moon Boy
Prime Javelin
Regular Javelin
Moondragon White
Black Widow
Overall, for prizing, pretty terrible. The venue was insanely generous and each map got a "fifth" booster to add to the prize pool. So there was hope something awesome would be available.
Team 2 suggested he and Team 1 gang-pile the Sub-Giganto. This allowed me to advance towards the center. By then one of my Hers had the Reality Gem attached.
What happened next defied logic. Team 2 pushed to send Prime Javelin into Giganto, hitting him with BCF and rolling a 6. Sub-Giganto took 3 (per Invincible). Then he pushed his other Javelin to attack Sub-Giganto and hit, rolling a 5 on blades. Sub-Giganto failed Impervious and ate another 3 damage. Then he sent Devil Dinosaur in and he hit, too and rolled a 5 for blades, dealing ANOTHER 3 to Sub-Giganto. 9 damage!!!
Since we were allies, I focused fire on the Devil Dinosaur, hitting it with a Her for 3 straight.
I thought Team 1 was going to try and finish off Sub-Giganto, but he backtracked and lit up Gamora with Venom. A misplay, followed, when Iron Patriot mindcontrolled Rocket Raccoon to hit Nebula for another 1 damage.
I tried to hide Nebula in a room but Venom hunted her down. The only good thing was Nebula dying gave me a +1 to all combat value and willpower to one figure. I decided to just pile up the points on Her - giving her the Reality Gem, and +1 to all Her values.
I sent a Her after Devi Dinosaur who was savaged by my ally's Devil Dinosaur. A crit hit dealt 4 straight, ending it.
I had 175 points.
Team 2's Moondragon and Black Widow tried to escape and bumbled towards my team, setting up a Rocket Raccoon attack on Moondragon. He hits, burying his teeth for 3.
At this point the clock has expired and it is a free-for-all. My dual Her's started blasting away at the other Devil Dinosaur, but he managed to limp off. Rocket was knocked to Flurry / Blades.
Team 2 bemoaned how he was going to die first. Rocket obliged with his swings, first finishing off Black Widow and then getting anther 3 damage on Moondragon.
I had 285 points.
I finally got a shot set-up on Venom and he failed his Shape-Change. Pumped up Her blasted the symbiote for 4 penetrating and Venom got lot less scarier.
Team 1 was finally able to finish off Sub-Giganto and claim another 200 points. I was able to finish off that Venom, soon afterwards, increasing my total to: 410 points.
Iron Monger felt the fury of the pumped up Her and I added the final Devil Dinosaur to my haul:
510 points. I took a Javelin and Iron Monger - which got my total to around 600 or so points, and put me in first place about 2 minutes before the bell once I cleared the rest of the board.
A very fun game, overall. The set was enjoyable to play in this format and I'm glad I attended even though the price was high.
The judge added an LE to the prize pool - Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle (one I already had, naturally. Its getting so hard to get the monthly LE's lately).
Time to open the final prize booster:
Did it have Cosmo?!!? No.
Did it have Photon?!?!?! No.
Did it have that SR Wasp? No.
Giant Girl? No.
Green Hulk, maybe?
Chase?
It had:
Spider-Buggy, Kismet, Anti-Vision, and two other things I don't recall.
Craptastic for prizes. None of my top wants from the CURSR slots are on the table and the LE is not one of the 4 monthly LE's I need.
Team 2 just starts wailing about how he will die if he doesn't get that Spider-Buggy.
I got to pick first. There is nothing I really want. I decide to take the Iron Patriot since it is a Rare.
Second takes Venom. Third grabs Sub-Giganto. Whiney takes his Spider-Buggy and grabs the Rocket Raccoon.
Third takes Devil Dinosaur & Moon Boy
Second snags the SR Golden Skull.
Oof - I take UC Moondragon and the Prime Javelin (in hopes I can trade it for something I want).
Eventually my prizes are:
Iron Patriot
Green Moondragon
Prime Javelin
Ego Generic (given to a friend)
White Moondragon
Second Jaime Reyes
Black Widow
I can't play next week but will be back for the Hunger Games event.
Until then, peace!
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
It was a good turnout for sure and it looked like the event and set was pretty well received. Glad people liked the extra booster that I contributed for the each table’s prize pool. Sounds like the other groups, aside from yours and the one I was in, got all the Super Rares and chases. Ah well.

I can't play next week but will be back for the Hunger Games event.
Build:
200 pts, 2 actions, Coliseum Age (see below)
TRIBUTES: Your team will consist of two figures exactly -- no more, no less. Each of your figures must be between 85 and 115 pts.
Restrictions:
- Nothing but your 2 figures and 1 standard object will be allowed.
- No figure larger than a 1 x 1 single base.
- No figures with the Duo Attack ability.
- No figure may use Pulse Wave. A figure can have it on their dial, but they will not be able to use it.

Tournament Play:
THE CORNUCOPIA: There will be a wide variety of advantages scattered around the map. These can be equipped as a free action. Until a figure has a relic or special object equipped their movement, attack, damage and range values will be -2.
THE CAPITAL: When both of your figures are knocked out you will join the side of The Capital, helping the judge control the arena's monsters and machinations! You'll still be able to score points as well.
Scoring:
You'll receive 1 point for every click of damage that a figure is dealt from one of your attacks. At the end of the night we'll tally up those points to determine placing for the event.
Prizes:
I'll have monthly OP Kit LE figures for 1st, fellowship and 2nd place, as well as possibly some more goodies thrown into the prize pool.
Buy-in:
This will be a free event!
Movie Madness points:
All who attend get 1 movie madness point. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and fellowship get 3 extra points.
I have a short list of pieces to use but haven't committed, yet. I need to hurry...
Wasn't able to complete the game. On to June 1st.

Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
He won map and after setting up he got in line to get a drink because he was thirsty.
I suggested he take his first turn and then go get his sodey-pop. He moved his team forward.
Round 2, he pushed his team to move them up even closer.
I explained that you can't use Charge and then shoot someone and how elevated terrain breaks adjacency.
Oh yeah, Elsa beat Thor down and She-Hulk shredded War-Machine and finished off Thor thanks to Perplex and Scarlet Witch's Unleash the Beast.
100-0
This freed up Elsa who teamed with Nico and Ms. Marvel to drop FCBD Hulk.
200-0
Pluto KO'd Medusa.
200-75 and then time was called.
Round 3 vs a Monster keyword team of:
Giganto 200
Giganto & Namor 10
Black Lantern Batman
Abominable Snowman 150
Horror Clix Vampire
Vampire Baron
Dr. Jeckyll
My son was crushed by a Giganto during the Pre-Release so I knew what to expect.
He became impatient and made his big attack. Crit Hit - prob with Marvel - 3.
Set up Medusa to be adjacent to the Giganto: Perplex and Unleash the Beast with She-Hulk (-1 to defense thanks to Dazzler and Outwit Impervious with Ms. Marvel): Charge & Flurry 12 vs 17 - hit for 6 straight! Second attack: 12 vs 16 - hit for another 6 straight. Still alive?!?!? Wasp 10 vs a 15: hit for 2.
200-0
In come retaliation Giganto - 9 attack, whiff!
Ms. Marvel fails her breakaway with HSS but when Vampire Baron comes running over to Exploit her Weakness, Carol punches him in the face for 3 and send him into a wall KOing him.
230-0
Dazzler then shot the beached Giganto: 10 vs 16 for 2 straight:
245 - 0
And that is how the game ended.
2-1 with low points.
I liked my team but that first game they did not match up well at all. Range was too long vs my limited mobility (with some poor early misses).
I hope WK does away with elevated and blocking terrain having no meaning on outdoor maps with colossals (and giants).
It was nice to play, overall.
On to next week for the monthly movie madness game with the classic:
WestWorld!
Prizes were drafting from 3 boosters of Avengers Infinity:
I own 4 Avengers Infinity figures I want keep
Moondragon Green - drafted as a prize
Moondragon White - drafted as a prize
SR Cosmo - bought as a single
FF Hawkeye - bought as a single
And I have 2 I don't want to keep:
Prime Javelin
Black Widow
The pieces from 4 boosters were:
Chase Moondragon
Thanos
Giant-Girl
Hulk
Nebula?
Flippin' Starfox
Her
Not Her
Moondragon White
Black Widow x3
Vision
Rocket Raccoon
Prime Javelin
Javelin
Red Space Knight
Rare Captain America
Why I bring this up is because out of 20 figures, I already had over 1/4 of them - and I only have 6 figures of the 78 or so in the set?!?!?!!
Bah, whatever!
Thank goodness there were some LE's as well. I walked away with:
LE Rocket Raccoon
Vision
Made a trade to get the LE Blue Beetle Ted Kord
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
This week is the long standing monthly event. The movie theme is Westworld.
Description
Let’s build our very own West World like theme park — a mess of robotic minions that have run amuck from various periods in time.
Build:
500 pts, 5 actions, Coliseum Age (see below)
Each figure on your team must have at least one of the following keywords:
Robot
Sentinel
Scientist
Past
Future
Metal Men
Pirate
Space Knight
Warrior
Martial Artist
League of Assassins
The Hand
Police
Tournament Play:
REBOOT: Once per game when a figure on your team with the Robot keyword would be KO’d, instead place them on their last non-KO click and heal them of two damage.
Restrictions:
- None
I think I'm going future keyword on this one, likely Legion of Superheroes.
Team to come soon...
My team was my pretty nasty Legion of Superheroes team of:
499 points
Round 1 vs a swarm team of:
Thrillkill Batman
Spring Break Wonder Woman
Harvey Bullock
2-3 PD officers (newest - that call in Police keyword pieces)
LE Booster Gold
LE Skeets
Probably someone else
The match-up wasn't ideal for my opponent early on and I played softer than I should have. I KO'd Batman and the missing piece early on and kinda explained how he could attack my team.
My biggest mistake, however, was knocking Skeets into Mr. Mind mode. The 9 range Psy-Blast and my opponent's good use of PD and Enhancement KO'd Superboy and I was screwed at that point.
It went to time with me only having Shadow Lass left on the board and him having Booster, Diana, Skeets, and 2 PD officers.
0-1
My team was designed with those crappy Colossals on mind and I got my match-up in round 2, interestingly against the person who annihilated my team in the first round last week.
Kree Sentry Generic
Kree Sentry Generic
Kree Sentry #8675309
Supremor @ full cost
He won map and put us on a map that had a HUGE section of blocking terrain. I used this to my advantage so he couldn't park next to my team without standing on the blocking terrain.
He was flustered by Shadow Lass' Smoke Cloud (as designed) and so I was able to blast Sentry 8675309. He ran the damaged piece in and I KO'd it for a quick 150.
150-0
I then focused fired on the generic and it fell, too.
225-0
Then I had Gates move my team across the map and out of the Sentry and Supremor's range as the remaining pieces cleared. He retreated.
I pushed Gates to bring the team to center. He sent the Sentry in and missed his attack. My team focused on Supremor and knocked him down - then he used the Scenario's Reboot to bring him back. I finished him off again.
425-0.
Sentry took a wild shot and missed and when Superboy made leadership to take a token off Lighting Lad, he conceded.
500-0 Felt good, I won't lie...
Round 3 had a team of Robots:
Vision
Supremor
Javelin
Another Space Knight
Anti-Body
My dice crumbled in this game while my opponent rolled more 10's and successful Super-Senses / Shape-Change than I've ever seen.
He played the team very well, basing my ranged pieces with Vision (who carried Supremor). 10 vs 17. I used 4 PC's and he only missed once (which he PC'd wth Supremor), crippling Lighting Lad.
Supremor than attacked and hit Superboy - costing my my 11 attack. 2 PC's and he never missed.
Tellus used TK to maneuver Lighting Lad to blast Javelin and Gates got us the heck out of there.
This became a game of pure positioning.
I was able to KO the other Space Knight to put me ahead. He would bring Vision over and shoot at my team. I'd target him - and either miss or he would make Shape-Change or Super-Senses, and then I would fly Gates and the team 14 squares away.
This continued for the entire 50 minutes with Superboy failing Leadership 10 times.
Eventually I KO'd Javelin and the Anti-Body. As I said during the game, I'd normally feel bad about maximizing Gates' potential but he made SC and SS so much I was fine with it.
Game ended 170-0.
2-1
Shadow Lass is still a great figure and this team has such synergy, especially with Superboy giving Leadership, Enhancement, Willpower, and IT/IM Hindering.
I was hoping to go 3-0 but the venue has some pretty strong teams run by solid players. Might be a while before I go 3-0 ever again...

Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Description
Build:
You'll build 2 teams for this event an A-Team and a B-Team. Your A-Team will be 400 pts and your B-Team will be 200 pts.
5 actions, Coliseum Age (see below)
Tournament play:
CALL IN BACKUP!: When 200 or more points worth of figures have been KO'd from your team you may, at the beginning of your next turn, place your 200 point B-Team into your Starting Area.
Restrictions:
- Any special objects or ID Cards that have a point cost will count against your A-Team's points.
Since there is nothing keeping anyone from using those Colossals again, I have to think keyword themed team so I can get map and play indoors.
12-13 range not affected by elevated and outdoor blocking is just terrible design - so I gotta suffer through until opponents get tired from using them so much...
Maybe Avengers...?
Since I need a shot at map roll, it looks like I'm stuck using more WK deemed keyword themed teams.
Just won her, dying to try her out.
What is better than a Hulk to smash some colossals?
Never used her and I need a Team Ability to copy...
...for this guy. Avengers keyword! I'm curious how he will do if I face some 200+ colossals.
19-22 defenses, right? Ugh. Why, WK? Why?
400 points
REINFORCEMENTS: (If/When 200+ points is KO'd)
With replacement sculpt affixed! 10-11 movement and an attack coming out of the starting area - I just hope mine is nearly as effective as my opponent's last week (and those frickin' dice!!!)
We're dropping this Clint onto the venue tonight. We'll see how crazy he can be...
I LOVE this version and he should be able to help whatever is left of my team when he gates in.
200 points
Hopefully this team can do enough damage and earn me some points.
We're getting to the point where I can write and after-action report ahead of time - the results were everything I expected:
Round 1 vs:
Wasp: Heart of Avengers
Moondragon Green
Rare Captain America Female
LE Dr. Voodoo
Batman Ape x2
Cap came flying out and hit Hulk and then got to make a free attack to blast Yellowjacket. This brought up the Outwit which was key and eliminating Cap's Impervious. Hulk was sent in and pummeled Cap for 5 damage.
Photon headed out via HSS and KO'd one of the Apes.
15-0
This brought Wasp over and she smacked Hulk for 4 damage. Wasp then hit Yellowjacket, KOing him.
15-60
Hulk didn't like that and went after Wasp. 13vs17, need a 4 and roll a 3. And so it begins...
Spider-Man was TK'd out and hit Moodragon for 3 but the other Outwit Ape is keeping Spider-Man in check by outwitting his Charge.
Finally, Photon breaks free and fires a blast into Cap, KOing her.
115-60
Wasp bounces over to smash Spider-Man but he makes his Super-Sense roll. She pushes and clobbers Spidey for 3.
Hulk barrels over, 11 vs 16 for 6. Rolls a 4. WTH, Hulk?!?!
Photon drops the other Ape and with Spidey getting back his Charge, he KO's Voodoo.
175-60
1-0
This sets me against the judge: Secret Six
Giganta
King Shark
Cat-Man
Knockout
Jeanette
Harley Quinn (The Flash)
After initial positioning, Moondragon was 8 squares away from Giganta. I decided to swing for the fences and make a Psy-Blast attack, knowing they were going to team-up to take out the Hulk. 11 vs 19 - I need an 8. Roll a 7.
Yellowjacket eats a themed team prob - Crit Hit! 4 straight to Giganta which is a HUGE hit.
Knockout and King Shark "whale" on Hulk, putting him on his final click and with 5 rage tokens. Hulk swings back for 7 damage, one-shotting King Shark and getting rid of the team-wide +1 to combat values.
90-0
Moondragon took another shot at Giganta and put her down for good.
180-0
Spider-Man smacks Knockout and I eventually finish her off, activating the reinforcements.
240-0
In comes Deadshot, Nightshade and 50-point Enchantress.
He commits to trying to take out the Hulk. Hulk is a happy camper as his 19 defense is too high. However, by pushing Harley she picks up her penetrating poison and down goes the green Goliath.
240-110
Yellowjacket shoots Catman, KOing him.
290-110
And Moondragon blasts Harley at the buzzer:
335-110
2-0
Since I always go 2-1, I'm not expecting to win my final game. I draw Tmacaroni and his team of:
Science Police x3
Thrillkill Batman
Spring Break Diana Prince
Cowboy Martian Manhunter
LE Bishop
Things start off awful as Monica with an 11 attack can't connect with the Sci-Po's 16 defense. Definitely a harbinger of what is to happen this game...
I'm reading up on the Sci-Po's unavoidable damage - but for some reason it isn't sticking and I screw up royally by pushing Moondragon to TK. Mathematically, I was able to get Hulk, with 2 rage tokens to hit Bishop for 7 damage. Stupidly, I put it in the wrong order and end up eating 3 damage which means Hulk can't get to Bishop now thanks to the loss of the Perplex. I'm annoyed as hell. Hulk wastes his attack on a Sci-Po.
45-0
Yellowjacket gets blasted to pieces and smacked down by J'onn.
45-60
Spider-Man gets his Super-senses outwitted and he gets destroyed, too - without ever making an attack. Crit Hit from the laser turret will do that.
45-130
Hulk has a clear shot on Bishop, after getting blasted by psy-blast. 13 vs 17 - but first I have to breakaway to get to him. Fingers crossed: roll a 4! Hulk Leap/Climbs back and gets to free Charge in (knowing I'm going to eat an unavoidable for my efforts). I just need a 4, roll a 3.
Moondragon blasts a Sci-Po for 2 and eventually it is:
90-130
Hulk gets shot by Bishop and Photon gets taken out after pinging Batman off of Outwit.
90-315
At least I get to use my back-up team! And Bishop is in range of FF Hawkeye. I shift focus on Strange to bring up the rare and his +1/+1. Hawkeye side-steps up - Bishop is dead if I make this: RCE, all to damage.
12vs17 for 5 damage
Crit Miss.
Vision eats a themed prob token:
3. For S&G's I roll my dice: double 5's, double 4's, 5&3, double 6's, double 5's, 5&3.
Bishop and Batman run towards my team and ping Hawkeye.
I bring up Strange and push him to Psy-Blast the Sci-Po for 2.
I then Running Shot Clint, targeting the Sci-Po, case really, I need points.
11 vs 16 for 4. Need a 5. Roll a 4.
Vision eats a second themed team prob (pushing him) and Hawkeye finally hits the 5 needed.
135-315
Batman and Bishop finish off Hawkeye at or near the buzzer. Game over.
135-365
135 puts me in last place of the 2-1's, as usual.
Reflection:
Dice are dicks
Hulk is pretty solid when he can roll over a 4 and terrible when he can't.
Moondragon is terrible down dial. She needs help. 85 is lot with 2 cheaper newer versions just arriving.
Spider-Man was pretty meh. The one time I could use his special Super-Senses, I rolled a 6. Lack of range hurts and I'd have Side-Step than low movement Charge.
Photon was nifty for the points. Insane mobility is my jam and after the first game, if she made her Leadership or Shape-change roll, she was amazing. Too many low cost figures for my team, though, which was frustrating.
Yellowjacket was fine for his cost. Nothing spectacular.
I'm really bummed I never got to use Vision. He was there to attack but since his time was used getting Hawkeye out of crit misses, I feel like I didn't use him at all.
Blech.

Reason: Added team
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Description
Build:
425 pt, 5 action, Coliseum Age (see below)
No figures on your team over 75 points.
Restrictions:
- You may have a maximum of one figure that has a base larger than 1x1 (single base)
I built a team based off of the Netlflix Defenders show + friend but the extreme range and ignoring of map effects of colossals had me rethinking it.
I'm also bringing The Serpent Society:
425 points
While I always go 2-1 with teams I think are decent - it will be a challenge to go 2-1 tonight.
Here is hoping the dice give me a fighting chance...
Well this team performed as expected.
First round vs:
FF 50-point Hulk
Chase Hawkeye that keeps shooting
FF Hawkeye with recurve arrow
Captain America with a sword
Captain America that got old
Manifold
Fast Forces Spider-Man with Perplex
SF Vision
I won map and chose the Yugioh maze to limit his range.
My team advanced. He blew up a wall with a Hawkeye and sent the Hulk in hitting Anaconda, Death Adder, and Cottonmouth.
Cobra made his leadership and I cleared a token off of Death Adder. Cottonmouth used a Computer to try and hit Hulk. He makes the hit - but Hulk Impervs out of it.
Somehow, Death Adder uses Exploit Weakness and rolls the 8 to deal 3 to Hulk, KOing him. I'm feeling pretty good.
50-0
On the next turn, Chase Hawkeye gets perplexed up damage and begins his only run of terror. He shoots King Cobra - Super-Senses is a 5 so P-Strike hits and he takes 3 damage.
He then runs to a Hallway and shoots my Python - fails SS, and dies.
He then shoots Black Mamba, who fails Shape_Change and hits her for 3 damage.
He then shoots at Diamondback and her 19 defense - and hits her for 3 damage after I burn a themed prob...
He then shoots Princess Python for 3 before running out of targets.
Manifold carries Vision and the 2 Captain Americas to base Anaconda, Death Adder, Cottonmouth and Cobra.
Anaconda pushes and uses SSSneak Attack to wallop Manifold for 3. Death Adder SSSneak Attacks, too and KO's the taxi - but my team is sucking wind, big time after Hawkeye's reign of terror.
108-0
Cobra escapes to heal on the Vine and the Python greets chase Hawkeye.
Captain America Sword swings at Cottonmouth's sad 16 defense and hits, KOing him.
108-60
Spider-Man pushes and hits Death Adder, finishing him off.
108-120
And that is how the game ended.
0-1
Round 2 had me facing Generation X:
Banshee Headmaster
Skin
Chamber
M @ 50
Penance
Artie Maddox
Leech
Husk
Torso 3-d
ID for Broo
I won map and chose Yugioh rooftoops - not a good choice in hindsight.
He took the elevated and I had to come to him.
Black Mamba used her Smoke Cloud to tie up Penanace long enough to get the Python adjacent. Between pushing to breakaway and Smoke damage she was hurting.
Leech came out too far to Outwit Death Adder and so Diamondback shot him.
30-0
Meanwhile I sent in Anaconda and Cottonmouth to take care of Banshee.
Anaconda was able to hit Banshee for 3, which was helpful but Cottonmouth failed his attack, wasting the computer.
Skin and M teamed up to blast Cottonmouth to KO.
30-60
His death allowed Death Adder to SSSSneak attack into his spot. 10 on a 17 to finish of Banshee. Miss.
I push Anaconda to swipe instead and hit with the ensuing Poison that appeared finishing him off.
105-60
Skin attacks Death Adder - 10 vs 19. Pfft. Rolls a 10. I push Asp to use a theme team prob.
Rolls a 9. Death Adder takes 3 to the face again.
Then time is called.
1-1
Final round vs my son:
Green Oracle
Green Lantern 55 points
Skeets
21 Ape and Snake Bystander Tokens
The first barrage was insane - Outwit, 11 attack, BCF / RCE.
Death Adder took it to the face, as did Diamondback.
0-110
Asp Side-Stepped in and then broke away because she is a BAD Girl, killing 2 Pogs.
30-110
Cottonmouth Phased in and smacked Skeets for 3.
65-110
Asp gets loose and Incaps a Pog, dealing 1 damage to Green Lantern and another 3 pogs.
110-110
Cottonmouth gets dropped as his 16 defense is terrible.
110-170
Anaconda positions to poison a slew as long as she can hang-tough! The Pogs are swimming in Black Mamba's Smoke Cloud!
First attack - Miss!
Second attack - Miss!
Third attack - Hit, but Super-Sense out of it!
Fourth attack - Hit. Fail Super-Senses. Well 2 damage isn't - wait, these dang things have blades-- 5.
110-230
Asp pushes and collects 3 more!
155-230
A snake charges in on Princess Python. Needs a 6 - Hit. Blades, again: 5, again.
155-260
The range pieces start blasting away at Cobra - who fails Super-Senses.
155-315
And the buzzer sounds...
1-2
Good enough for two from the bottom.
The team lacks a lot: no support powers outside of Leadership, no taxis - it was a lot of work to earn the points I did score.
Black Mamba - needs Side-Step or a 6 range to be worth it. Just so limited without one of those.
Asp is the bomb. I really like this figure.
King Cobra is the MVP. His leadership is sick. I want to use him on a Thunderbolts team. His Leadership bonus is too good! I was getting +6 to Leadership!
Princess Python, while limited, is worth her measly 30 points. That Pythin Bystander put in some work today.
Anaconda - is okay. I think on a better team she would shine more.
Cottonmouth at 60 points sucks. I'll never use him at that cost again.
Diamondback was okay. I wanted more but at 50 points with 6 clicks of life she is an okay piece.
Death Adder never faced an attack roll he didn't take to the face. The guy was a damage magnet. When a 19 defense vs a 10 attack with a Prob can't hold, that is a problem.
On to next week for my next 2-1 one series...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Figures on your team must be either Common or Uncommon (no Rares, Super Rares, LEs, Chases or Primes). You may include figures from Starter Kits and Fast Forces as they are Commons as well.
Restrictions:
- No figure with a base larger than a 2 x 1 (peanut base)
Lots of choices on this one, but I'm leaning towards:
448 points

I had high hopes for this team. It felt like it would mesh really well - so how did it go?
Round 1 vs Harlekin and his team of Avengers - it was Civil War!
FF Black Panther
FF Black Widow
FF Vision
FF Iron Man at 150
Moondragon 70 - due to getting the wrong Hulk (same sculpt but different rarity)
Gamma Bomb
Thor brought up a Loki to deactivate the Gamma Bomb and failed.
This allowed for Iron Man to come blasting in - unless Loki makes his special Shape-Change roll! He fails. But it is an illusion so the score remains 0-0
Thor responds with a blast of lighting (Psy-Blast) and tears a hole in Tony's armor.
Hercules runs up to tie down the team and protect Thor from getting attacked.
Vision slides into position but needs an 8 to hit Hercules - 9. Dang. Hercules is on Toughness.
In comes T'Challa who cuts Hercules down.
0-90
Thor tries his luck at deactivating the Gamma Bomb. Fail.
Thor then dual targets Vision and Iron Man with his penetrating lighting and hits both. I decide to dump it all on Tony and his armor is fried.
150-90
I send in a Loki to harass. He is targeted by Vision - unless I make a Shape-Change roll. Fail. Loki is hit but luckily it was an Illusion.
150-90
Between Outwit and CCE, Black Widow and Black Panther harass Thor down his dial. Then the Gamma Bomb EXPLODES!!!
Thor takes 1 damage due to Invulnerability. Black Panther, Black Widow and Moondragon each take 3 damage. This helps me a lot!
Thor uses Flurry to finish off Black Panther.
200-90
And I use Valkyrie to run interference and protect Thor from the ladies.
Meanwhile, Vision and Loki are locked in combat. Vision attacks Loki, unless he rolls Shape-Change: Fails. Luckily the 18 is too much as my opponent's dice are throwing lots of 1's.
Loki is able to Incap Vision to do 1 damage - at least his dial is moving. Valkyrie is able to Leadership a token out of Thor so he is attacking a lot. Flurry finally drops Black Widow and Moondragon.
320-90
Finally, Loki succeeds in a Shape-Change and I get to bring in an illusion. They try and throw some Incap on Vision while Valkyrie struggles to roll the needed 6 to start dealing some big damage.
Eventually she hits! Rolls for blades = 1. No damage due to Toughness.
Thor hits Vision with a Crit Hit - but dem themes probs thwarts that memorable moment.
Eventually, Vision succumbs to Valkyrie's wild swings and Loki incaps and I'm 1-0.
450-90
On to round 2 to face:
Weaponer of Qward @ 211 - man, I hate this figure - most powerful generic ever!
Gamora
Drax GF
Jakita Wagner
It totally makes sense for Weaponer to appear and yet I didn't expect it at all. I make it my mission to kill that jerk - plus I gotta because Full Move RS/Charge is better than HSS - especially when the geniuses at WK decided to make him Indomitable and give him pick a power with a 10 movement / 8 range...
I move Hercules up to bait Weaponer into coming in. No way he would target a Loki.
Weaponer goes for it and from 16 squares out hits Hercules with a 5 damage Psy-Blast. But Herc still lives.
More importantly, it brings Weaponer into Thor's range.
I push a Loki to pinch off Gamora's prob control by fitting right between a Weaponer and Gamora.
In comes Thor, calling a bolt of lighting. I need a 7 and Thor buries the blast in the generic's face. 4 straight and Weaponer loses Move and Attack - but has Outwit, now.
I just gotta keep Weaponer there so Thor can hit him again next turn!
Weaponer poisons Loki - Koing him. But it's an Illusion! I decide I need Weaponer to stay there so I decide to have Valkyrie come in to get Weaponer to waste his Outwit.
Gamora pushes to hit Valkyrie with the Heavy Object. 12 vs 17 - she hits and deals Valkyrie 4 damage after Toughness. In comes Jakita Wagner with Exploit Weakness. 11 vs 16 and she gets the 5, putting Valkyrie on her deadly final click.
Weaponer outwits Thor's Penetrating damage and decides to go after Valkyrie. 10 vs 18 - yes, my pretty, take your low percentage swing! First try: 9. Valkyrie's dead.
0-130
Okay, Thor needs a 6 to deal 2 more damage to Weaponer, getting rid of that Outwit AND pick-a-power. 3 and a 1. Miss.
Drax comes running up to base Thor as I position Loki next to Weaponer to prevent Thor from getting Psy-Blasted.
Hercules, not to be forgotten, yells "take a gander of what a god can do!" takes a computer and throws it at Gamora. 11 vs 17. Need a 6. HIT! Gamora takes 3 damage!!!
Drax swings on Thor. 11 vs a 17 - but misses! Suck it, Drax!
Jakita runs in and using EW, hits Thor for 3 damage - bringing up Charge / Super-Strength.
Meanwhile Weaponer chooses Poison again and hurts my newest Loki - who arrives on a stop-click. The true Loki, revealed! Illusion Loki disappears.
Gamora uses CCE to deal 2 to Loki, bringing up his 18 defense, Invulnerability and Outwit. Weaponer targets Loki - but has to make the higher chance of failure of needing an 8 to hit - double 4's. Loki is KO'd.
0-205
Things are desperate. If Thor can charge out and smash Weaponer from behind, he will fall and take falling damage!
I just gotta make breakaway... Screw it: rolls a 4. SUCCESS!
In comes Thor, flying over Weaponer and landing behind him. He winds up Mjolnir, needing a 6 to deal 1 damage but send him off of elevated. a 6?!?! That is a better than half chance of - 3 & 2. Fail.
Meanwhile, Hercules runs up to Jakita Wagner and grabs equipment she was holding and crumples it up.
7-205
Weaponer chooses Steal Energy. He needs a 7 and has two chances to make an average roll. 5 & 5. Thor is KO'd but Weaponer wastes his second attack...
7-355
Jakita and Drax miss Hercules' 18 defense the first time. Herc can only clear and Jakita pushes to hit him (needing only a 7).
7-448
1-1
Final round I face my friend Tmacaroni and:
Lighting Lad
Timber Wolf
Superboy
Cosmic Boy
Celeste Cuckoo as Saturn Girl
I move up a Loki to distract Lighting Lad as Thor barrels in to blast Timber Wolf. 11 vs 17, need that infamous 6. Rolls a 4 and a 1.
This allows Superboy with a heavy object to hit Thor for 5 - unless Impervious... No. Just - no.
In comes Timber Wolf who was not knocked off Charge and his hits Thor for 4 damage (2 after Invulnerability).
I'm kinda chasing shadows as Tmacaroni's team keeps moving around. Thor, on flurry, has a terrible choice. 18 Invincible or 17 CR? Thor decides to try for the 9, twice, since the damage will stick. First attack: 6 (where the hell has that number been?!?!?!?) Second attack: 9!
Yay, Thor hit something!!! Timber Wolf takes 3. No more charge.
Meanwhile Lighting Lad flies out and targets Valkyrie, Hercules, and a Loki with Energy Explosion. Needs a 7 to hit everyone. Herc has Invuln and Loki has Super-Senses so I'm not too worried about - CRIT HIT!
Loki does NOT have Super-Senses and Hercules was NOT safe. Still, the Loki was an illusion.
0-0
Hercules is not going to let that happen again He runs down Lighting Lad and bases him.
Timber Wolf pushes and hits Thor for 4 damage, KOing the Odinson.
0-150
Superboy attacks Valkyrie and needs a 5. He hits and she takes 2 damage. No problem - Flurry, 11 attack, Blades...
Lighting Lad blasts Hercules for 3. I'm afraid the dice are going to let me down. I decided to have others attack, first. Valkyrie is up. Needs a 7. First attack - HIT! That's what I'm talking about. Roll blades = 2. No damage. Second attack - fail!
Okay, those terrible rolls are over. Hercules dumps all his CCE to damage. Need a 7 for 5! Roll a CRIT MISS!
Lighting Lad blasts Hercules for another 3 putting him on his last click.
Superboy swings on Valkyrie and CRIT MISSES! FINALLY, a ray of hope!
As Toughness comes up I decided I gotta push Valkyrie. 11 vs 17 - need a 6. Hit! Blades = 4. Second attack: need a 5. HIT! Roll a 6. Superboy is downed.
100-150
Hercules is free and actually rolls the needed 5 to drop Lighting Lad.
214-150
Cosmic Boy and Timber Wolf combine to shoot Valkyrie to her final wonderful click. Charge / 11 / 18 / 3 Flurry + Blades
She is clear and I have her go after Cosmic Boy. 11 vs a 16. Need a 5. Attack 1: 3. Attack 2: 4.
Cosmic Boy and Timber Wolf run. My team goes after them. I use the Lokis to block off some paths as Hercules approaches the Timber Wolf who is now on Regen.
While I can't reach him - Hercules is holding an object! Surprise! He throws it. 11 vs 17. Need a 6.
Roll double 5's. Yeah baby!
Theme Prob.
roll 5 and a 2. Yeah, baby!
Theme Prob.
Roll a 3 and a 2.
The Legion escapes as I take out my frustration on Celeste - except she can roll an 8 and KO's Hercules.
214-240
Valkyrie appears where Hercules was and Charges -hitting Celeste to her Stop click. Meanwhile Timber Wolf rolls a 5 for Regen and Cosmic Boy gets incapped to running shot, Pulse-Wave.
Celeste finally falls and I use a Loki to pick up Tmacaroni's Dueling Sword and use it in an attack. Gimme them 3 points.
267-240
Our teams collapse on each other.
Timber Wolf flies in and attacks a Loki. Battle Fury means no SC for you!
Luckily, the Loki was an Illusion. I use this to call over Valkyrie so she can finish off TW.
She and the Legion go through a series of misses while Loki and Cosmic Boy tussle. CB gets to 10 attack / Pulse-Wave and uses it hitting everyone because 8's are easy for others to get. This finishes off Valkyrie while bringing Loki to his STOP click.
267-370
Loki KO's Cosmic Boy.
337-370
And it is down to Loki vs Timber Wolf.
Loki can't hit the 17 defense. TW can roll the 8 to hit Loki to his final click.
Go for it, says the Trickster. 10 vs 18. 1 shot. Rolls a 9.
1-2
While it was a fun evening, Thor REALLY let me down. He was 7-0 until tonight.
Hercules was cannon fodder. He was up and down.
Valkyrie is so random. Sometimes she is awesome and other times it's Whiff-City.
Loki - so much -potential and he was cool but I made exactly 1 success shape-change this night.
Back to the drawing board because my teams are getting worse...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
The final result may not look great, but that seemed like an exciting tournament. I know your frustration at dice letting you down and the opponent laughing in the face of the odds. Those games happen. I've been there, a lot!
From what I can make of the two matches you lost, exchange one hit for a miss with your opponent and you win the match or make it MUCH closer. I really enjoyed this read. That team was really good. Don't lose heart. The dice like to steal the show sometimes.
I love this thread and your contributions in the units section. Cheers, mate!

So how did we do?
First round I drew Clix Cast's TheRunningShot and his Masters of Evil scientist team of:
Dr. Chen Lu aka Radioactive Man
Anton Vanko aka Whiplash (Con Ex)
Ulysses Klaw aka Klaw
Dr. Otto Octavius aka Dr. Octopus
Abner Jenkins aka Mach-IV
Elihas Starr aka Egghead
This team was really cool but the dice were not in his favor plus he hasn't played in a while and rust does set in.
He won map and chose the zipline custom map. We positioned near the center. Whiplash came running slashing at Booster Gold but the 20 defense was too much. Mach-IV flew up, bringing Radioactive Man adjacent to Booster and Blue Beetle.
I can't let Radioactive Man irradiate my team so I have Ted Perplex down Chen's defense one and up Booster's attack 1. He attacks and hits dealing Chen 4 damage (3+ Power Woman's Empower - 1 for Toughness).
Next, Chief Outwits through Ted Kord Mach-IV's Invulnerability. Power Woman snags a heavy and 12vs17 = 7 damage, one-shotting Abner. This allows Flash to HSS in with Power Woman's Empower to hit Chen for 4 damage (2 after Invulnerability), dropping him.
160-0
Whiplash lashed Booster for 3 and Klaw blasted Flash for 3, bringing up Charge and Perplex.
Blue Beetle smacked Whiplash for 2 and I brought in Power Woman to one-shot Dr. Octopus (4 Probs used - 3 against and 1 for) for 7.
240-0
Booster blasted Klaw to his last click but he was able to regen back 3 clicks and escape. Egghead beat feet once Whiplash was brought down by Kord and Nightwing.
339-0
Egghead was bouncing around but Flash was able to Side-Step and Charge in, finishing him off.
389-0
Klaw used EE to hit Booster, Blue Beetle and Nightwing - bringing up on some final clicks. However, Power Woman was in charge range and flew in blowing Klaw up.
499-0
1-0
Second round was against one of MightyQ's sons. He brought:
FCBD Hulk
SHIELD Hulk at 100
Balls of Fury
Harley Quinn (puddin was Balls)
Chase Rick Jones w/ pog generation (Captain America)
Weasel
498
He won map and chose that awful bridge map with little to no terrain and only 2 squares of blocking to keep Balls off my face.
He advances the two Hulks and I position behind blocking and out of range of Balls. He advances his force to get Balls into range of the blocking terrain but he misunderstood how Weasel helps with range - it only works with Enhancement and you can't use Enhancement to target blocking terrain.
This allows me to use Flash to hit SHIELD Hulk for 2 damage.
He has to advance his Balls closer to destroy the blocking I'm chilling behind. This brings him into Booster Gold's range. Using Outwit via Chief and Perplex via Blue Beetle (and PD via Nightwing), Booster targets Rick Jones for an EE attack. I'm hoping to plink some damage on Harley, Balls, Rick and Weasel. 11 vs 16 defense. Need a 5. Roll a Critical HIT!
Weasel is KO'd outright. Harley couldn't Super-Sense out of it due to the Crit Hit so she took 3. Balls took 2 damage after Toughness and knockback and Rick was blasted off elevated terrain being close to the edge of the bridge and took a total of 5 damage.
102-0
In came Flash - 12 vs 18 against Harley. Need a 6, roll double 5's.
167 - 0
The Hulks brought the pain but his dice failed him. This set up Power Woman to smash FCBD Hulk for 5.
Balls said Power Woman couldn't use Invincible and Hulk set to Flurry on her. First attack 11 vs 18 need a 7, roll a 6. Second attack need a 7, roll a 7. Power Woman takes 3.
Power Woman uses CCE to smack Hulk for 4 on the following turn.
267-0
SHIELD Hulk goes for a quake but his 9 attack isn't helping. I send Flash to get kick some Balls and Nick fails Shape-Change and takes 3 damage bringing up Regen and Earthbound.
Nightwing and Booster combine to drop SHIELD Hulk.
367-0
Balls decides to shoot with a 9 attack instead of Regenerating and misses Blue Beetle. The second token pushes Balls since Earthbound and this KO's him.
487-0 Booster then kills the Captain America pog and that is game.
2-0
The final round has me facing an anti-PC team of:
Immortus (forgot card)
Spider-Man 2211
AI Flying female Captain America
Victorious (forgot card)
I lost map, again, and got stuck on the wide open western map - basically another Bridge Map.
I position into the interior running along the side. Captain America moves out and takes a shot at Flash. 11 vs 19, needs an 8. Double 5's. Super-Sense fails and Flash eats 3, losing HSS. Crap.
She gets a bonus attack and tries to hit the 20 defense of Booster but misses.
Victorious phases in and targets Flash. 11 vs 18. Need a 7. 6 and a 1.
0-85
Chief lets Ted side-step up, blocking Victorious's LoF to Booster and Chief uses Outwit through Ted to remove Victorious's Impervious. Power Girl drives a heavy into his face for 7 damage.
140-85
Ted Incaps Captain Americette to get her off Impervious.
Immortus blasts Power Woman, getting the 7. I forget the KC TA and take the 2 damage, losing Charge. Spider-Man 2211 needs a 7 and rolls it. Ted takes 3 (losing Perplex) and gets a web token.
Power Woman side-steps up. I shield her from Spider-Man's PC and bring up Nightwing to PD this attack. Chief outwits Immortus' Super-Senses and Perplexes down his defense. I don't mind Immortus using his PC special because I'm going to use Booster's to ensure this hit.
10 vs 15 defense. Need a 5. My opponent then tells me Immortus has Shape-Change along with Outwit, PC, and dealing damage to my PC figures. I'm annoyed there is no card to easily reference - I get it's an accident but this whole turn I'm planning isn't taking into account there is Shape-Change in the board. You know what happens, of course...
(Interestingly, the exact same scenario happened in my son's game in the previous round)
Captain Americette shoots, needing a 7 and KO's Ted.
140-145
Spider-Man 2211 positions to hide Immortus. Nightwing double-sidesteps to him and gets off the free attack. 10 vs 17 defense (outwitted and Perplexed down by the Chief). Need a 7. Roll a 3 and a 1.
Nightwing has the bookcase. He uses his action - 11 vs 17 for 4. Need a 6. Rolls a 3 and a 1.
Immortus takes a shot at Booster Gold. 10 vs 19 - rolls 6 and 3 and bye-bye Prob Control.
Captain Americette takes a shot a Nightwing. 10 vs a 17. Dumps a 6 and a 1, bringing up Flurry and Willpower. I can use that. She then gets to free shoot at Power Woman. 10 s a 17. Drops a 5 and a 2. KC says, it still hits! Impervious says, "ow that frickin' stings"
Power Woman decides Cap must go, not that she has RCE. 12 vs 17 Crit Hit, baby!
240-145
Nightwing pushes. 10 vs 17 - need a 7. 5 and 1. Second try: 3 and 3. Dick is killing me.
Booster takes advantage and shoots at Spidey. 10 vs 17- hit, putting Spider-Man on click 5.
Spider-man needs a 7 to hit Nightwing. 6 and 1.
240-220
Immortus pushes to target Booster Gold. 11 vs 17. Needs a 6. 6 and a 1.
240-290
Power Woman targets a Perplexed down and Outwitted Spider-Man. RCE - 12 vs 16. Needs a 4. 4 and 2. Yeah, baby.
Prob.
4 and 1. I count. He counts. Yes, it counts!
340-290
Now the smart move would have been to position Chief in front of Power Woman. But I was thinking offense instead of defense and I wanted the Outwit and Perplex to take out that Immortus.
Stupidly, I hide Chief and then Immortus has an 11 vs 17 defense with Psy-Blast. Needs a 6. and a 1. Maybe Power Woman can roll her KC - nope.
340-450
I kiddingly run Chief at Immortus who hits him. Chief ain't dead!
Immortus pushes - and KO's Chief - but wait, he has Weird Resurrection! I roll double 5's and it's over.
340-500
Good ol' 2-1 Hello 2-1 my old friend...
I land in 3rd behind the 2 3-0 players, fellowship and a birthday guy - which I guess is really 5th place.
Good ol Immortus with his time travel to go to the apartment and hide the card...
Ted and Booster are always fantastic pieces. I love them and use them a ton of times. I apologize for nothing!
Nightwing did well until the final game.
Flash was great - it was a huge blow losing him on turn 3 without making a single attack.
I really like that Chief. He is insanely potent for 50 points.
KC Power Woman was a straight forward beater. She performed well and I'm glad I got her. Sure, she was pricey as heck but she doesn't have any real game-breaking effects that hurt other figures and her stats are strong without being absurd. I can use her comfortably on friendly matches and use her multiple times at the Coliseum.
I'll (hopefully) be playing in the Batman Pre-release in Las Vegas this week. We'll see about an after action report. My next Coliseum event won't be for a while - but:
I'll be back.

Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I played at unsung hero's venue: Little Shop of Magic
The venue has a great layout and the players were very welcoming and friendly. The 8 players attending (including me and my son) was the most they had in a awhile.
I opened my 2 boosters and revealed:
Catwoman
Harley Quinn
Scarecrow
Mr. Freeze common
Harvey Dent
Joker 30 pts
Common Batman
I Am the Night Batman
Lex Luthor
SR Title Character Batman
While I usually use SR's / Primes / etc in sealed, the amount of reading and thinking in a game of all new figures meant I was benching the Title Character.
I went with:
Round 1 was against a fairly new player. He didn't know what team abilities did or how some powers worked. So we worked through it together. He had:
Minotaur
Nightwing
Maxie Zeus
J-Man
Ninja
Harvey Bullock
Alfred the Black x2
I won map and chose the Star Trek maze/cave map.
I was able to take the hindering in the center which forced him to come at me. Between the Stealth, Shape-Change and Smoke Cloud his team really struggled. I was able to Outwit the Minotaur and tear through that short dial and it was the first to fall.
60-0
I pointed out ways for him to attack my team and reminded him of some powers but his dice were really terrible. Catwoman was insanely effective with her 3 range, P-strike, Perplex, BE and side-step.
In the end there wasn't a lot he could do, even when I dialed my team way down, but he did have a better handle on his team afterwards.
300-0
1-0
In the next round I faced:
Rare Wonder Woman
Prime Clayface
Two-Face
Zeta
I won map and we played in the saloon map.
I didn't know Zeta had Giant Reach 3 - which came as a nasty surprise to Batman. Ugh - bye, bye top click of awesomeness. His role was transformed into a PC piece.
Catwoman, again, was key - pinging Zeta when needed. Harley's Outwit was also key. By the time Clayface and Diana got into the fight (they were trying to sneak behind my force), Zeta had fallen but not before taking Batman with him.
85-75
Two-Face was stuck - not having any targets due to Stealth. Diana was able to get her mits in Joker with bad results.
85-105
I concentrated fire on Two-Face, dropping him.
160-105
There was a bit of a stalemate. I brought in Scarecrow, who has low attack potential. Defense perplexed up, dropping Smoke Cloud for -1 attack and stealth to protect him from Clayface's Outwit (opponent didn't know adjacency doesn't ignore Stealth). Diana winds up her fist. 10 vs 18 - rolls double 5's knocking him out of hindering terrain. Crap.
I have to clear Scarecrow because he is near the end of his dial. This allows Diana to lasso him and bring him up and with a quick smack, I'm losing.
160-165
Catwoman bounds up but gets KO'd, too.
160-205
She switches team next to Harley who is on Poison. Excellent - I'll KO Selina and get her back and then have a fresh piece to deal with the team. Catwoman attacks and hits Harley.
Harley rolls for her craziness - and gets a 6. Her best stats. She poisons Catwoman again. I feel confident - 18 Super-Senses should... Crit Hit! WHY?!?!?!?!
160-270
1-1
Final round I face:
Man-Bat
Rare Flash
I Am the Night
Two-Face
He won map and we headed to Rocket's homeworld.
We position early and Two-Face succeeds in a Leadership and brings in a Henchman.
His initial attacks are all misses as both Flash and Man-Bat fail miserably. I decide to play aggressive and just bring the pain. I send in I Am the Night and his free Smoke Cloud keeps Flash entangled enough.
My opponent brings in his I Am the Night but I'm on the right side of the action allotment - always in stealth. Joker positions - and becomes the target of Man-Bat for the rest of the game. Joker's PC and Catwoman's Perplex help my I Am the Night KO his I Am the Night.
75-0
Man-Bat misses at least 3 times and this mentally breaks my opponent. He just makes poor choices - like leaving Flash adjacent to I Am the Night. Wally quickly falls to Catwoman and Batman.
150-0
Harley takes on the Henchman and Two-Face.
230-0
Man-Bat continues flailing even with his new-found 11 attack.
305-0
2-1
I really like I Am the Night. He falls if he is hit but it is a lot of work to get him.
I am in love with that 65 point Harley. If not for the Flash-set version, I'd only ever use her.
Scarecrow wasn't as useful as I had hoped. Someone mentioned using the Smoke on my own team to give them Battle Fury to get past SC, which is a brilliant idea. I'll try him again with that in mind.
I didn't have a problem with that Catwoman. While I think I like the Starter a bit better, on those few wildcard non-Legion DC Hero teams, she brings a neat option.
I'm not a big Joker fan - outside of the animated world, so a 30 point option that looks and (in my head) sounds like Mark Hamill's version is perfect.
