Yes it's cool initially that Disney is purchasing Fox; however, need I remind everyone of what Disney has done to Star Wars- from one of the biggest film franchises ever to now burning it to the ground. It's cool to get Fantastic Four back but I think the cost is more than we know- Disney gobbling up another company is bad for the competitive market. What happens when no one else is able to challenge Disney- two concepts come immediately to mind... 1) Without another company to challenge Disney they can charge whatever they want and 2) Competition creates friction- friction helps ensure capitalism endures. Disney is already a monopoly, so I personally am very wary of them buying or purchasing any more of anything.
Someday eventually we'll wake up and the only choice we'll have will be Disney tv,news, sports, movies, video games, comics etc.

Please, keep this garbage out of these forums. If you have constructive criticisms, that's one thing, but this is a step in a very toxic direction. Not only that, your statement is objectively false, given how much money they've made. All this is going to do is lump you in with a group of people you hopefully wouldn't want to be associated with.

To be fair, I follow box office trends and Solo was one of the biggest flops of all time.
On the other hand, Force Awakens is the biggest domestic hit of all time, so, they’ve had their ups and downs.

I wouldn't relate money made to quality of movies. Mind you, I have no strong opinion in regards to Star Wars. Not my cup of tea.

Neither would I, but that's not what the post I was replying to was saying. "Burning the franchise to the ground" implies that it is somehow not in healthy shape, which is objectively untrue by any measure, despite what certain people try to claim. The "biggest failure" still brought in $400 million. You don't bring in ~$5 billion over 4 releases by not being quality movies by most reasonable metrics.

$400 million is pretty terrible when your production plus marketing budget was larger than that. They took a huge bath on Solo. And the complete lack of overseas interest is worrisome for the future of the franchise.
And box office isn’t necessarily the best indicator of quality. See the Transformers franchise.
