If BLS is going to end the game in one turn by attacking, he'll do anwhere between 100 to 6000 lp damage in one turn, depending on the monsters he destorys. Assuming you opponent will not have any monster with less than 1500 atk unprotected, the likely range of damage is 2000-3000 in one turn. Assuming that 2000 damage will kill you, then your opponent has already done 6000 damage to you throughout the duel. BLS might have finished you off, but it certainly didn't singlehandly defeat you.

As for beating it in battle, how often do you see a monster destroy a monster with 2500 atk or def in battle (excluding equipments, Injection Fairy Lily, Kinetic Soldier, ect..)?

I would like to start off by saying that I do NOT play BLS. Never have and never will.

If BLS is banned than what is the next card we ban? Almost certainly people will be
complaining about the next card that is so insanely broken.

BLS creates a challenge for those who don't use them. How great is it too defeat someone and thier BLS, are there any better duels for those of us who don't use BLS?

If BLS goes to the wayside then everyone who has to use the most proven deck type will just run to the "next best thing".

Perhaps a simple card errata of remove 2 darks and 2 lights will fix the problem and make everyone happy.

On a lighter note this guy makes OJ not look guilty or ummm......broken.

How bad does it suck to see your opponent pull POG, Graceful and Dou the first hand. God luck overcoming that. How about we ban 2 of those 3 first.

I think the reason BLS missed the Ban List is because he is still weak to m/t. Now, of course, we can all come up with the list of stuff that can stop him, but follow me here -

Black Luster Soldier's effects are both monster-based. Both the double-attack and the removing.

Chaos Emperor Dragon has that priority thing, and removes everything.

Magical Scientist, wow, he has no requirements whatsoever, and he can summon a swarm of monsters in one turn that can conquer both monsters and spell/trap effects.

Yata-Garasu is a hand-control spirit monster, this means two things: 1. Hand control is indiscriminate, so in my mind this counts as monster - m/t control, and 2. because of its spirit effect, the opponent really needs a Spell Speed 2 card to get rid of it, and traps were gnerally scarce in pre-ban era due to Jinzo paranoia.

So, I stress my point - BLS only effects one part of the game, whereas other banned cards like these effect multiple aspects of the game with ease. Besides that, we still have some prenegation and graveyard flush available in Advanced Format (not to mention that Royal Oppression ^.-). I'm not saying he's balanced, I'm just pointing out why he's not ban-worthy. I'll agree he could use some adjustment, but still not ban-worthy imo.

I think that the reason the BLS has not been banned yet is because, Konami/UDE has to make an even better card before they ban him. Otherwise, they would lose a whole lot of money because alot of people would quit. Did anyone else notice that they rereleased the IOC variant Boxes so everyone would buy them for the slim chance of pulling BLS. If they truly wanted BLS to be a "chaos monster" they should have made his summoning cost be that you must remove 1 monster of every attribute from the game then he would actually be closer to being not broken.

Ok I know I'm going to get flamed for this but.....
here's my opinion BLS-EOTB doesn't need to be baned. There are many ways to get rid of him including my favorites Ligtning Vortex and ROD. He is to vulnarable to s/t. Like someone said earlier "if you weren't ready for BLS you wouldn't be ready for any monster". I will end with a quote from my judge.

I was going to defend BLS but screw it, he's not the MOST B-R-O-K-E-N card......that CEdragon( and i love it) and then Yata-garasu, so i place BLS in 3rd place........now as broken goes, this card is the personification.....in adv. you DON'T GET BROKENER...No there just isn't a card better!!!!!!!


NOW IF THEY BRING Black luster soldier out in MC2 i will not be a happy chappy, my meta hasn't been assimilated by chaos, i'm the only chaos runing deck in my meta.....now give people BLS and Chaos will run rampant ANYWHERE...

I love the fact that BLS-EOTB staying on the field is viewed as a draw back! If the player using him is dumb enough to summon it when they their opponent has 4 or 5 cards Yes it can be easily removed but if (far more realisitcally it comes into play when they have 1 or 2 cards in their hand) its VERY HARD to get rid of! I've only lost to it once thus far and I had the opponent down to 1200 life topdecking I was at 8000 with three cards and it took the opponent six of their turns to beat me with it!

Well, I too wish that this card would get banned. However, it's not because it's too broken (though I do think it's incredibly powerful), but because I am sick of everyone playing the same deck.

Oh, forgive me. Not everyone plays Chaos. Some play Gravekeeper's to counter Chaos.

I play a Fire deck, which I realize is gaining popularity. However, I would love to duel against someone who runs a Water deck, or an Insect deck, or even an Archfiend deck, I don't care what it is. But, whenever I go to a tournament, I see the same three things: newbs with their starter decks, Gravekeeper's, and Chaos. Something other than the above three decks would be refreshing.

I've owned the BLS-EOTB, twice! But I traded 2 of mine away because he's broken as hell. I mean, come on! Easy to summon, EVERYONE in the game uses him and being jerks about it, and so much money! I get bored EVERY single time he's used in a duel! Someday, I'd like to bash this card in the head.

Well, I see it in pretty simple terms, what is the MOST HATED MONSTER in the game?
The people I play may hate my Black Luster Soldier, but they hate my 1000-Eyes Restrict even more. What is this crud: special summon by offering a Sheep Token for Metamorphosis, inhale your opponent's face up or face down monster, make DDWL and DDA useless, attack under LLAB/Gravity Bind, no other monsters can attack or change battle position, you can't flip anything, sac it for Jinzo and shut down all the traps?

1000-Eyes Restrict via Scapegoat/Metamorphosis is just as "broken" as Black Luster Soldier. But, no one is screaming for the ban of 1000-Eyes. And it's not even limited.

Now first of all i would like to state, that they never should of made a banned list, however i realize, that the state the game was in, it was completely neccesary.

My view, is that they should never of made the card, if they were going to ban it, now i realize 2 things.

1. the restricted list is completely necessary and good
2. Konami cannot see the future, and realize not to print a card, but reigeki... cmon thats obviously broken and other are obviouse not to make.

Also i think CED isnt as good as BLS (watch he get slammed for that comment)

I would like to agree finally w/ some of my other yugioh fans, as to not ban it, but to fix it (errata) because the state it is in now it is BROKEN like crazy... i was rather fond of the remove 2 lights and 2 darks idea... along w/ a few other card on the banned list i think some should be errated, not banned.

On a final note, i realize that konami realizes, that new players enter the game every day, and that it is near impossible to get staple cards, from old series. As such i think they should take a page of the MTG book, and bring a series much like the core set (1st, 2nd, 3rd ect...) were there are 80% of the same cards reprinted, with the same effect. Now of course the other new sets would still be released, adding new flavor to the game, but this way it would be on a much more widescale playing field. (h3ll it might even attract more players) Out all

Personally, I'd say, VANQUISH Black Luster. He is a staple heavy card in almost every deck. If anything, I think that BLS should be limited like Dark Paladin in the fact that once he's gone, HE'S GONE FOR GOOD.

If you not going to ban him, at least give him some kind of handicap.

Really though, I agree with every argument that's been made against BLS, hi sadvantage he gives is sickeningly easy. Normally I have no complaints at all about BLS, but at some point, my patience with him is broken. Last weekend at regionals, I was dueling a pretty skilling guy, and we were going neck and neck. He summons King Dragun, I find a way of taking it down. He manages to pull out a pheonix, I bottomless trap hole. Jinzo comes out, smashing ground. Now, here's where things get rough. I had enough removal to handle the other guys, but when BLS comes out, I start to get worried. At the time, I had 3 cards in my hand and a DD Assaillant f/d on the field, with no m/t at the time, bu the only has one card in hand. He removes my assaillant from game. Next turn, my hand is Fussiller Dragon, Lightning vortex, Metamorphisis, and a Bottomless traphole. I discard bottomless for vortex in a last ditch attempt to rid the field of this nuisance, and then summon Fussillier and metamorphisis him into King Dragun. Normally I would be fine. Next turn, he summons BLS with premature, attack attack. Ouch, 3600 damage. I'm still in the game though. He sets a f/d trap and ends. I draw, get torrential, set it and hope to god he does. He summons DD warrior lady and I remove them both with torrential tribute. Yes! A stroke of luck! Then..I hear the words I fear the most.

"I activate call of the haunted to bring back BLS."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Ok, 1 time I can do. 2 Times, maybe, but 3?!?! I can't kill BLS, Jinzo, Pheonix, DD Everything...and just..ahh. BLS should not be so easy to pull out, and on top of that, not recurrable. The Creator is an awesome card, but, it can't be special summoned from the grave. Now, no one uses it. Why can't they do the same to BLS? His effect is infinitely better. It's just..not right.
