True... but they’re already starting to “own” here. Selling out on the first issue that wasn't necessarily hyped up (if anything, it was probably criticized) is pretty impressive. Obviously, it’s not on the same level Yu-Gi-Oh is here considering that the actual trading card game and anime isn‘t even out here yet.
Yes I agree. It's an immensely huge step toward success. And you're right it is being harshly criticized. But then again I saw guys who were saying "Oh it'll be dumb." or "it will flop." going out and buying the comic.
I have also seen many YGO players talking about picking this up as their "Second game.". Mainly I think because it's so much like the game. All in all with a successful manga already and an anime on the way it has the fixings to become a huge success.
Howdy all, wow, I can't believe duel masters is finally being released in the U.S. I can't remember when I first found out about it, but I've been waiting for a while. I've only seen a brief description of the rules, so I'll have to learn a bit more, but it looks like a great game so far. Don't know if it'll surpass Yu-Gi-Oh! (pretty hyped right now), but I certainly think it'll do well. C'mon it's Wizards, a company who has an idea what they're doing. Nice to see a few familiar faces :D
I think it'll match ygo, they'll hold figures for a bit...
and .hack will smack them from behind!
whee! Well... i ran outta brain power already. I lkie DM's shield concept, which helps prevent snowballing a bit, and the whole any card is mana concept, which prevents more snowballing.
Are you kidding? If anyone has played magic in here they know about how certain decks can accumulate enough creatures in a short ammount of time to go insane no matter how many blockers you have put out so far.
With that said hello and my only real question is why did they have to add 3 zeros... i have yet to see a card with anything in the hundreds or less.
we are using up our zeros people... stop wasting them... save the zeros.
Another note, in my opinion this is the happy middle between yugioh and magic... it will defintly be a nice tool to teach someone how to play magic from yugioh.. or vice versa if nessicary.
Ok I'm new to the forums but skimming the posts I see alot of pro ygo posts, well her'e mine: I can't stand ygo I think the art is horrible, the play mechanics are bad and the cartoon makes me want to slit my wrists. I saw Duel masters, read the rules, I feel I can easily pick this game up and the art is top notch, consistent and inspired.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone but I'm very interested in this game and hope it crushes the others.
Well i'm not a big fan of magic, and i've made posts on the Dear Konami Board (YuGiOhRealms) for a change in the rules, so i guess something...
Append: ...should happen that stops making YGO suck at its weaknesses. After all, a perfect system takes time to develop.
...
Even of some people think this isnt a perfect system.
Originally posted by Darth Vailo Yes but "owning" there is much different than "owning" here.
You are quite right... Pokemon "owned" there, then Yu-Gi-Oh! "owned" there, now Duel Masters is tearing up the sales chart. Hmm... I see a trend here ;o)
ok heres the thing, yugioh isnt as strategic as magic, and duelmasters fixes the complexity and stuff that magic get plagued with Yugioh has problems because lately most decks have been the same, i see hunderds of people copying the world champoins deck, and thinkin that makes them a great duelist. Ive seen people with those fun new demon decks using pendamonium rape the world champion deck easy.... duel masters will attract people because of its anime-ness and the fact that its a jumpoff game to magic, its like a better more interesting version of portal. I personally like the idea of this better, because it reminds me of what magic used to be, fun instead of super competitive.
Heh. DM is just starting to get into the land of fun and wacky decks. My Ballom deck is so much fun lol. I run a mana curve of 4.9 yet I can still put the whoop down on decks with a much lower curve.
The next three sets are quite frankly awesome. We've got set 5 with...
Survivors
Speed Attackers
Awesome Draw Power for Nature
an awesome evo bait for Gyser
an insane mana lock card for Light
an insane mana lock card for Fire/Nature decks
a very nice unblockable for Light
a way to get infinite Mana Nexus
a great triple breaker for fire
a super evil hand kill card for darkness
a great evo bait for Niofa
an insane draw card for water
an insane triple breaker for nature
a way to force your opponent to attack you with all his creatures (even when you've got tons of blockers in play)
a way to keep armored dragons from being killed by removal cards
