yeah the only problem with this is that a head judge doesnt always see every deck list before a tournament.
also I never said three minutes for each person to shuffle a deck. I said you have three minutes to shuffle a deck and thoroughly randomize a deck. the reason that the 2222 deck was deemed impossible to shuffle was do to the sheer size of the deck. it was impossible to hold let alone shuffle.

Actually, they did hold it xD, but that's for another day.
The fact is, Judges CAN deem something "impossible to randomize". If the Head Judge thinks that applies to a 300 card deck, then it does. If not, then it doesn't.
The 2222 deck was a deck that appeared in a tournament in Germany. As the name implies, it contains 2222 cards. It was deemed impossible to properly shuffle it to randomize the arrangement of the cards, and thus, it was DQ'd for being unable to do that.
Wow, that probably ran three of every card it could. But, with my luck, i'd still pull a starting hand of 3 skull servants and 3 shapesnatch.
what is the best number of cards to have in a deck? does it depend on your strategy or what? surely if you have 40 cards you would run out of cards quickly and if you had 80 you would have too many as your spells and traps would be all over. some advice please
well in terms of probabilities 40 cards would be considered the best to draw what you need fast. you have to realize that if you draw the cards you need quick enough you end the game faster.

Unless there is a degree of redundancy to your deck, 40 cards is the ideal. Its the minimum, and it will make sure you draw the cards you need when you need them more often. Even with that, you'll find that people still love to play as many extra cards that draw them cards as well. A deckout rarely occurs unless a deck is designed to deck the opponent out. Usually games end in 5-15 turns, so that, barring extra drawing cards, you'd only have drawn about 20 or so cards.
