Does anyone else look at these and think “Wow at least they finally got Locusts right”? These are quite interesting, they can do a lot of damage on a charge but they aren’t likely to live long afterwards because of their heat dials and terrible defense. Kind of like a “one shot” Battlemech.
Decsent mech for any faction, depending on what strategy you use; but poor Highlanders and poor RoTS keep getting shafted in the previews. the HL Longbow doesn't make up for what hasn't been shown. If the next several previews don't feature HL or RoTS heavily, it could lend weight to the rumor they are both on the way out or possibly teaming up as one new faction...
BTW, though i am SW pure usually, my buddy who introduced me to MW is a HL pure faction player; I feel bad for both.:(
They are tank chargers, not mech chargers.
The locusts should have costed that (less than 100 pts)
i love SC one, DF is good too.
3 Mjolnir, RV and some bikes. nice little charge army.

Literally, mini-me. 63 points less... 1 point less charge damage... equally capable of charging... actually better at shooting (not that Arnis ever actually shoots)...
Oh, and Danni Haag, the pre-Arnis chargemonkey queen gets a mini-me too!
Yeah, this is exactly what the game needed. Lets rehash and upgrade all of the most detested forms of cheese in the game and put them into one set. Yay!
16 defense?? Most INFANTRY have a better defense than that! I already consider 20 defenses as borderline capture-bait. 18 nearly screams capture-bait. But this?!?! A mere SINGLE infantry would hardly have a problem capin this thing. Why in the world would I want to hand over 1/4 of my entire point total to my enemy? Most ICE mod mechs are a good 10-20 pt. cheaper and have a 20 defense by comparison. You'd do better fielding a buncha John-deere's. Granted a 14" move is nice (but rather insane when you figure that means this thing can outrun some AIRCRAFT). I suppose as a disposable mech they might get the job done ... but yeah ... once you throw it in to battle you should pretty much NEVER expect to see it again intact.
People who are complaining about SH and Highlanders not getting one of these are kind of missing an important point; your 'Mechs are slow, these 'Mechs are fast. It would be a little out of character for the Highlanders to get a 12 speed 16 defense Battlemech.
Wow, the Swordsworn version has negative heat affects on the STARTING position. Just when I thought the Swordsworn heat dials couldn't get any worse.
You know I don't think I would charge with this mech. The dials are too short, so I don't think you can afford to waste the clicks of damage. I like them though. Cheap, decent support mechs. I'll use the Bannson's one.
P.S. Bannson's seems like it's going to ROCK in this expansion. YIPPEE!!!!!!!
People complaining about SH, HL, etc, not getting one of these are missing an important point: these things are garbage in a competitive environment.
Sure you can charge 32" with it. Sure you'll do 4 damage if you do it on the prime heat slot.
But if you do, you will be shut down. Period.
And you'll be left with a defense value that a single peasant company could easily capture you on an average roll.
Whatever you actually hit with the charge - assuming you hit, that is - will, unless it's a similarly-priced mech, still have what it takes to pound you into the ground.
The only thing these things are good for is dealing with light vehicles, like towed arty.
And anyone who doesn't screen their arty is wasting it.

I'm thick, but I just don't see the purpose for these things.

i gotta say that im a little disapointed with it being thursday and i havent even seen a hint of a ROTS peice. But those mechs arent bad. I'd use them oin an all mech army top keep my costs low.
