it's a 90tonner(ok...finished with nitpicking)
i've got one and i can say, that speed decreases really fast
btw. this speed is one of the few possibilities to make fatties playable...i like it a lot
in CBT-terms i'd agree(was only 4/6 movement)
I dunno, if I saw an oppurtunity to remove a tankdrop with reasonable safety, I'd probably do it. But then I'm not one to use assualt mechs in the first place.
I use Assualt Class 'Mechs every once in a while, depends on how I want to play. Normally, I take dual :^^^: Targes and wreak havoc on whatever my oponnent values most in his/her army. The trick to this 'Mech is equal speed in its support. Some Fulcrum Tanks and some Scout ATVs will fit the bill.
Why is everyone going on and on of how good this mech is?! People: It aint that great. Its a very playable decent mech, but it is very fragile. It loses a lot of speed point, attack points, and defense points in only a matter of clicks! It starts off beautifully, yes, but keep in mind what your investing for 271 pts. For what areas it lacks in, I think Wizkids did a great job on the point system. I have run this piece a couple of games and I play Liao religiously, I think im pretty sure I know what I am talking about. I dont think I will be using this piece very often, neither anybody else. People are making a big deal about nothing. A smart player would play it defensively, but still capitalize on the speed. This mech simply allows you to not play Arty, thats about it. I would seriously play a couple targes, the jung Chae in his hellstar, or even a very over looked mech, clara parks.
Any intelligent thoughts, or am I just an idiot that doesnt know what I'm talking about?
Originally posted by NightMoor I wish the Yu Huang didn't have crippled ranges - why oh why give it 14 inches on its garbage gun, and only 8 on it's heavy hitter?
Because the heavy hitting cannon represents the LB20-X Autocannon, which, if memory serves, had a range of about half that of an LRM system.
Steel Wolves are like dented coke cans, then crush under the slightess presure.
Liao are known for their short ranges on a lot of their 'Mechs. Parks is the best 'Mech that the Liao have got for the points. I haven't played with any of the CA units yet, get back to yall later on it.
I do play Liao religiously, the 'Mech is well balanced. All of you who scream, "its broke, its broke" wouldn't know what broke is unless it kick you in the jimmy. Learn to adapt and overcome.
Actually, CrakRabbit, saying "this 'Mech moves way too fast for an assault 'Mech with JJ, considering it outranges 3/4 (at least) of light 'Mechs that have the same SE" has nothing to do with not being able to take this thing down.
Its saving grace is that it doesn't KEEP that speed very long. And that's a good thing for game balance. I don't want this sort of precedent being instituted.
Take it easy. My gosh, quit worrying about the way the mech looks like and play the game, the stats fit its points and if it charges for 7 clicks its takes 3-4 can't remember if its round up or down. Id be more than happy to watch my opponents 271 point mech take 3-4 damgea nd 2 heat. then its garbadge.
