I thought that the ID systems in IS mechs couldn't identify the timber wolf and the system kept on jumping between the Marauder (who's ID abbreviation was MAD) and the Catapult (CAT). Hence Mad Cat.
I'm thinking the JF set will be JF, RotS and HL-heavy, with SW left out. Why?
Well, the book says they're on a rampage against SW. The CA idea was Liao on a rampage against RotS, and they got left out. Since they're gunning for thw whole Republic, they're gonna beef everything up. And, the Highlander players flamed Draddog good after CA, so I think they got the message :)
Faction Characteristic? Decent, but not so high, Attack values, with Improved Targeting. Something like 9 or 10 with IT (in a game with 11 Atk nons). Why? Clans were never known for melee with their Mechs, much less charging. So giving them a low base attack for charging, but having re-rolls for ranged combat, are representative of the way a true Clan fights. Also, lower primary damage than secondary damage, so they are handicapped for default melee damage. Maybe somewhat high minimum ranges?
In the current figs, it is actually the Stormhammers Combat Dials (not Heat Dials) that are most clan-like. Decent range (Jade Falcons should have more) and IT.
Also, with the Clan tradition of choosing opponents, there should be no multiple target range attacks. Except maybe multiple target single-use Anti-Personnel. Or something like the Ruthlessness House Liao ability, but applicable to all units, not just green. Perhaps to Mechs and Infantry, as Clans disdain Vehicles.
Also, based on Aidan Pryde, the Jade Falcons, or at least some of their Uniques/LEs, should have some sort of "berserk" slot near the end of their dial. Something like Lori Kyle... cool at first, then goes berserk in the end, high values all around, even defense.
Given that we have an energy-based "Clan" faction in the Spirit Cats and a more balanced (energy and ballistic) one in the Steel Wolves, the Jade Falcons should be predominantly ballistic (they lost campaigns due to running out of ammo).
All in all, to borrow from the current factions, Stormhammers attack values and damage, Steel Wolves ballistic range and SEs (AP and AnP) and berserk stats, no multiple targets, maybe the Spirit Cats long life, Liao no-salvage-go-down-fighting dials and consistent damage levels, and possible variations of Awe and Ruthlessness.
I would personally think that Steel Wolves would be well presented in the next set for few reasons, one being that they are who the Jade Falcons came to fight! And for second based on how few units they got in CA. Hmm good chances for NON Thor's in the next set. :)
As long as it's not the MW4 Hellhound, I would be happy.
Okay, ideal mechs, Enforcer hit them on the nose:
Turkina, Night Gyr, Summoner, Hellbringer, Black Lanner, Kit Fox, Fire Falcon.
if one of these do not appear for the falcons in the forseeable future, I will be angry to say the least.
the falcons also make use of (abiet less-extensively)
Stormcrow, Mad Dog, the 3 of 4 primary assault mechs (Dire Wolf, Warhawk, Executioner, not including Gargoyle)
they are a heavily-armed clan, traditionally relying upon heavy-hitters to directly engage the main enemy force via zellbriggen. I will destroy someone if wizkids sticks the MW4-sculpt Vulture on CJF.
And no, I do not want to see a Kraken or Hellhound or Baboon or whatnot (don't care if they're CJF mechs, they're second-line ;-P ) at least immediately.

Actually, Jade Falcons don't worry about honor when fighting inner sphere barbarians. They did at first, but after IS mechwarriors started "playing falcon", the Jade Falcons said the heck with honor.
true... that, and just because the Jade Falcons prefer zellbriggen, that does not mean their weapons are incapable of firing at multiple targets. They're still allowed to mow down infantry :p
the WK people said nothing. Anything you've heard from them besides "CJF will play an important part in 2004..." etc. is just rumor.
The whole idea of the Republic is that it was formed from so many different nations coming together under one banner. There is no signature republic mech 8-)
