So far 75% are saying tey'll stay in the game . . .maybe buy less, but stay in the game.
SO, where is the overwhelming pull out? IF 75% of players are going to stay in and wait to see what happens then WK has the chance to pull this out of the fire. Or at least distract us with shiny new toys . . . . ..
I'll be interested to see how this % changes over the next few days.
Does anyone know what the average % annual drop out rate for any game like this is? Could it be only a little less than this %? What's the rate of new players joining? Not just in your venue, but nationally . . ..
Lesse .. just a lil over 100 votes now. First off lemme say that when people agree with something WK does they DO express it on the forums. One of the latest polls here was for if players were satisfied with the changes to charge and a good 60%+ said it was acceptable. So the argument that the only people who are on the forums are nay-sayers just doesn't quite fly.
So far:
1/2 of all the responses said they will buy less
1/4 said they would QUIT
and 1/4 said they would buy the same
If this batch of 100 is representative of the MW population at large (and I concede the fact that it probably isn't ... but I would argue it is at least somewhat close) .... exactly how many new players and how much would those new players need to buy in order to offset the losses from the existing people buying less or getting out of the game entirely?
From the looks of it ... it would have to be a lotta new players ... somehow I just don't picture that happening.
Given that scenario I have no trouble picturing WK/Topps taking another loss in the quarter they do the first retiring of a MW set ... and probably from every quarter thereafter. At which point Topps may put them up on the auction block. I hope that doesn't end up happening though.
I will still buy those 2-4 boosters in month as i have done before but mostly LI and CA(becouse of Lio), and FP in it comes out(becouse of JF). I will quit all old factions and conserrate to Lio and JF becouse they are new and most of my retiring minis are from all other factions. Still i don't like it.
I haven't bought a booster since December but instead just bought singles. I don't play on buying any more singles at all, just trading. I will also be selling off 4 of my factions completely.

(P.S. I am very computer stupid, so I could be very wrong, but that is the way it did work out for me)and yes I still do drag out that old computer and I use it, not often, but I do, so by WKs reasoning, it is still useable.)
A fairly acurate description of the computer market as a whole.
placed into context with WK-DORKS I can see a possible 3 things happening from their fairly poor choice.
A: WK goes out of business and takes a major financial hit as well.
B: WK sales suck so much that pulls the plug before they get in over their financial heads.
C: floats WK till they recover and the game will really never be the same.
Personally, I wouldn't mind set "retirement" if they manage to keep the factions balanced and it really does bring in more players.
But I think the former is unlikely and the latter is a complete pipe dream.
I buy boosters to support venues I play at when I play. If I don't play, I don't buy. Since I expect almost everyone left will be quitting I don't expect I'll be buying much at all.
This all goes back to the comment I made a while back regaridng all the new sets WK was trying to get on the market before December. Creepyfreaks? I see tons of figs gathering dust on various store shelves. Crimson Skies? Haven't heard so much as a peep since the initial release. Shadowrun? Same as Crimson Skies. HC? still hanging in there....somewhat....
WK is still growing, but instead of focusing on three successful product lines they decided to chuck their capital into three new money pits that all but died after their release. Now they want to foist off Sportsclix on the public. Obviously no lessons learned here. I want to know what happened to all those "you don't know what you're talking about, WK can afford to go into more clix games. They'll survive. You'll see" commentaries. Uh huh, yeah, right :p.
Survive at what cost? lower quality in their products, disgruntled consumers, laid off employees, more biatchin and moaning, etc. No thanks. Pull the plug, this patient's flatlined.
I voted "less boosters", but I feel so dissapointed that rather buying nothing will be my answer to this unloyal move from Wizkids. Is there any new player encouraged to start a game which everybody else is leaving?
I think we (old players) should boycot this new policy, WE SHALL NOT BUY ANY BOOSTER from the next expanssion or set, even if we like any figure, we can wait several weeks after the launch to get one.
I like this game, and no matter what Wizkids did I always bought what they sell. But for now I think there's a lack of honesty end ethics on the way they do business with us.
They want new players, ok get them. As soon as they realize what we already know, they will leave them too. Market has a hard set of rules for retiring entire companies.
Well stormfox, change my vote from quit to buy only singles. Seeing as thats all I have done since DFA came out, the only times I have bought packs was for each marquee.
I'll buy boosters for sealed events and Marquees and a few out of curiosity. I will discontinue collecting and will no longer purchase booster cases any further. I'll buy power units on eBay when I feel the need/desire.
In all, I believe that the retirement of units will lead me to spend significantly less on MWDA and MK, allowing me to shift my entertainment dollars to other pursuits.
It will not effect my collecting. I am loyal, and would probably buy MW no matter what. The problem NOW, is that everybody that was playing when I was a BM, has quit. NO ONE has shown at the last 2 events. I am told it is because of their distrust of WK. They have the opinion that something crazy is going to happen at least twice a month, and they get no responses on "their" important issues.
We see all of these "fixes" for problems that we did not know existed, and no "fixes" for the stuff that concerns us.
