I think the Liao Shockwave might make a very interesting conjoined twin for the Gyrfalcon with it's 22 point defense, and it still fits into 450 with room to spare.

Exactly Dan, or use the SC Sortek or the Liao Danai and you get point defense of 20 for under 50 points, the sortek under 30. Plus with the danai you have a unit that can drop two pogs a turn while it is upping the defense. A little imagination goes a long way to making a mech playable. Not every mech can be the kind to sit in the middle of the board and say come and get me.

No, that is not the case at all. I did not buy any of them, as I have not had to purchase anything off of ebay for my collection. Yes, I am quite aware of the fact that there are competative players who collect as well. I have, I am quite sure, one of the most complete collections of MW that there is aside from some WK related person maybe. And trust me, as far as competative goes, until this years nationals, I am in the top.
The point I thought I was making though is this, a person that will spend 30+ on a USABLE unit, in general is not going to be the same person that dumps 30+ on a collection unit. It is of my experience, that if you are that competative, you will be winning the prizes that come out, and for those that you cannot win you will have plenty to trade for the rest. I haven't purchased anything from ebay for my collection, and honestly, I sold off hundreds of duplicate LEs that I didn't need, it is too easy for a competative person to get things they need through trading.

Wow, it's a miracle! EVERY peice in my faction already has that "can not be targeted by artillery" ability. And every infantry also gets the "can not be charged" ability. I must be unbeatable huh?

I was sure somebody would outbid me, so I placed 36 and then to make a test 37. It costed me 37+shipping, only to discover I had to send a money order through WU :( ... almost 47 dollars (but I live in europe, it was 40 EUR).
No problem, you do crazy stuff once in a while, and it's a cool mech.

The thing that gets me upset is that sometimes auction ends w/ 1 bid at 15 dollars, but everytime you bid, they always finish 1000$ w/ 150 bids!!! x( I hate it ;)

So you are saying don't ever play any unit that is not for your faction(s) or you are a cheeseball? I play almost exclusively faction pure, but sometimes it is fun (did I just say fun when talking about mechwarrior) to play something else just for kicks. I think it is pretty crazy to spend a lot of money on a piece to let it collect dust in your box until the rest of the set comes out. Anyway, to each their own I guess.

I'd just like to say that I got my Gyrfalcon off of eBay for around $30. :P
