I never answered that questions with that response. I've gone back to double check it, but I never did answer that question that way.
Same with me. I also disliked very much the fact that one of the very few questions I wasn't able to give my own answer was the one about choosing a scult to reuse. In court I believe that's called "leading a witness", in other words steering the outcome of the question. Other than that I truly enjoyed the survey and am thankful for the chance to share my thoughts. Thanks to all who worked on it and put it into action.
Afterthought: Perhaps my real answer for the sculpt reusing question isn't available since it's already being planned to be reused. Since we can't know what's already planned for that, any answer that anybody gives is an uninformed and thus invalid answer, "I'll take door #2, Monty!" :)
interesting survey, i just hope they can use the data...and i got to fill in the blank about how horribly broken the SSw Arrow IV is! hope they listen!
Well, if they do get rid of some of the "splinter factions" I hope they bring back their original clans like the wolves and Nova Cats. This survey was very well done, thought out, and done. Kudos to those who were involved with it, they took the concerns of the players. Also, what they think are the major concerns of the game itself like the problems with artillery and tank drop and what they would do to fix it, maybe we will be heard and the game can be saved from what it has become.
This survey was excellent, and it got right to the point.
I chose the Vulture to re-release. It's an iconic 'Mech, with only two examples so far, both of which bite.
(The Ryoken II is the only one similarly underrepresented for its age, and both of them are pretty slick, despite being similar factions and point costs to the Vultures.)
The point I tried to get across, especially with "extra comment" questions, was that the "uselessness" proportion of each booster is why I don't buy many anymore, nor do I plan to. The rules still make it so that 99% of the pieces are a waste, and the other 1% are the only competitive ones. And that's simply unacceptable if the boosters cost $10 and give only 4 units.
In fact, I wish they'd had more options for that question; like we could pick the number of pieces of each type and it calculates booster price based on that. I'd have liked to see an option where not every booster contained a 'Mech, which could make 'Mechs rarer, and thus each 'Mech more powerful.
The game's in a sorry state right now because they're treating rarity and competitiveness like they would in a CCG, and they have to realize that when pieces don't get "special rules" (Cards' text, in a CCG, overrule the games rulebook where they conflict) there's no way to make a "lesser piece" (worse, for same points cost) worthwhile. Which means that most of the boosters we buy contain junk -- more so when set retirement hits.
They need to have special rules on different pieces, but there was no question asking about that.
Originally posted by ObeeKris Kevin, MAJOR problem with the survey. On the question:
"Do you play any of these games" and you have CBT, D&D minis, etc, you do not have a "none" option. I don't play any of them, and yet it's mandatory to answer one to go to the next question.
I had the same problem. MW is the only game I play and I've never played any of the others. I just chose to mark a game that I thought might be cool. But that was a relatively minor problem with the survey, I think.
I was really glad for the opportunity to push for faction purity benefits and for completely removing artillery from this game. How can artillery be practical on a battlefield that is less than 2 football fields long? Artillery out, Mechs in!
Excellant survey, and it really goes to the heart of the issues with MW today. I replied in favor of the importance of factions, storyline, and adjusting the rules with the aim of making 'Mechs the kings of the battlefield again. If they follow through with some of the concepts floated in the survey, they will probably succeed in revitalizing the game and boosting sales figures.
I am a skeptic for everything, but this survey was great, and really seems like they are asking questions to go in the right direction.
Can you take this more than once?
Or can different persons in a household take it?
Like many others I expressed a big problem with the poor playability of mechs, and the overpowering of Artillery.
I picked the Atlas for remake, because it's just such a cool mech, and a Non Atlas would be great.
I don't see why they think there is anything they could do to get people to buy packs vs. Singles. Packs are a lottery for the blind who like to take bad risks. Singles are for the reasonable who like to get what the pay for.
Well here's to hoping they improve.

Darn won't let me edit. Well, I sure hope they address making Mechs stonger, as well as the importance of Faction purity. Those are two aspects of CBT that most want to see implemented anyway.
Kudos to the people at WizKids for putting up this survey. Letting the community directly comment on their thoughts of the MW:DA game and its universe will go along way toward healing the rift that has emerged over the past several months.
Everyone, make sure you tell all your Mechwarrior friends to get out and take this survey! WizKids wants our opinion, and the more opinions they can get, the better!
so far nothing but love for the newest survey by everone so far, I am just wondering when the warpoggers are going to come in and give their 2 cents worth and then turn around and sell it on ebay for $20.
if i could change one thing... at that enswer i wanted to type *few* things... and survey crashed, so i had to fill in questions again.
since i dont want to feel i typed my reponse to that question in vain, ill just poste it here.
well here is my reponse to what i would change if i had a chance do change one thing :)

currently, and i belive that is not just my opinion, the mw game has serious problems with inbalanced units that are exploiting current mechanics.
i would like to see that you would do something about the QA of units released. while in understeadn that power units like ssw arrow IV that came in CA set is something that make peaople want to buy more boosters and hope for one of these units... while in udersteadn this, it also hurts to see the game getting drawn into extremes, one of whcih is warpog these days.
as some other players and mwrealms members, i feel that such units are not good for the game and only create enviroment of unit combinations that are way too powerfull.
while i at the same time understeand the logic behind unit combinations, if game is to be played at any level of competitvness, than there surely are combinations that form army templates, for example in mechwarrior game.
various army combinations that are able to beat other less effective army compositions are also what we on forums also describe as metagame. basicly metagame consists of units combinations that are dominant in a certain time of game.
for example in the DA set we had various army templates, when FFE came out the whole positioning game that DA was changed and metagame changed. Metagame included less effective amry templates, artillery efectively removed so called turtle template, infantry swarm army template was removed ect. with DFA came new game mechanics came, that where also changing metagame and we got down to few amry templates that could be effective (that is huge reduction in variety of amry templates compared to DA set). when game came to LI expansion it was pretty obvious that army templates with mechs are less and less effective and that vtols and arty along with fast ifiltraring infntry was more and more dominating. only handfull of mechs where still cosidered to be in metagame, that means only few mechs where effective enough (becouce of their advantage in SE and stats abilities compared to other mechs) to be actually used in competitive play. with CA set, and introduction of units such as ssw arrow IV the metagame has narrowed down to one single army template.
this army template uses multilple ssw arrow IV units. this kind of army template is called warpog.
if you will have the time, i would like to encourage you to consider spending a day or two, perhaps few afternoons and read the topics on mwrealms.com that are discussing this so called *warpog*.
so to get back to the question, what would i change if i could, one thing that i could change.
i would change the way units are produced, while i am not fammiliar with the current process, and im limited in my knoweladge of the playtesting that is done for mechwarrior game, i would try to remove any possible power units.
again i can mention arrow IV, but in no way this is the first such unit, asm im sure you are pretty aware... we can go back to bart, br lego, ssw balac, sw padilla, sh di towed, sw j-37's, df smi tank destroyers, ssw aa arty, df donars, all kind of tirkes, now atvs... these are all units that are too powerful and these are also units that dominated in a certrain time in mw game timeline.
so i would change the way game is playtested, and actually make sure that no sets would go out into stores with such power units. i still long for the days of DA enviroment and metagame that we had back than. you could take a mech into the battlefiled and feel good about it, you could also take many different mechs, not just few top mech units (arnis, stephani...). nowdays, in a competitive enviroemnt mechs are a huge point investment that can easily be countered by smalled and more point effective units.
of course local metagame is different from place to place, here in slovenia we are still in the time of post LI metagame with touched of CA metagame, but that is becouse we dont have any way to actually buy boosters in stores around here, well our metagame still allows us to field mechs.
