I'm not too crazy about the repair gear. You throw it on to a mech and it has no problems moving around behind 1 or 2 other mechs acting as a mobile repair station. The repair vehicles aren't so obnoxious because they generally can't keep up speed-wise with mechs. You can't really disrupt the repairs with an ATV or a Sylph because the two main mechs will just wax it in 1 turn so you'd have to swarm with a buncha them in order to prevent him from repairing. Hitting one of the main mechs directly is pointless because he'll just repair it. Going after the repair mech itself is iffy cause first off you'd have to be using something with streaks because LOS will be blocked by the other mechs ... and you only get one shot. After that the other mechs will eat whatever took the shot. And chances are 1 hit won't be enough to put the repairmech out of commission anyway. So the only way to really go after this army type is with arty (damage ALL the units at once and hopefully cause enough damage to multiple units that he can't repair it all at once and eventually the repair mech itself will get wasted.) If we see even more repair gears then the multi-mech-repair combo will become more common which will then increase the proliferation of arty-based armies to counter them which is certainly not a direction I think we want to go again.
Was this an early preview or a bonus preview? Do you think we'll get another peek today? I'd really like to see the non Stalking Spiders (if they are in fact part of the set) or some of the new infantry sculpts.
LOL, I like these too and I am SPEECHLESS over the RoTS one...it is a thing of beauty:
Besst...
RoTS ....
Repair Vehicle...
EVER!
I like the use of the armor on it, I do believe that there will be a forthcoming quick response to parking the thing in the woods tho...but the speed and the right "escorts" would prove to be an effective sheild for this...over all I like the vehicle and think all the others are solid if not stellar....more practical when more than 450 points are on the field but all things being equal, one or two succesful repair attempts in a standard game should all but ensure victory, so still it is a useful tool and not so cheap as to be abuseable easily..
Oh yeah the Sculpt DOES in fact ROCK, I like the ideas these new pieces are taking conceptually, its a nice thing to see.
No, you can't. Not until everything is broken. These guys didn't like SS A4s? I can make a REALLY powerful arty! I'm gunning for your job now, Kelly! Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
Well, it's great that actual repair vehicles are coming back,:) since we didn't get any in AOD or FI. That SW APC and the salvagemechs don't count, in my opinion. But the Saviors are a little too pricey for my taste. Sure, they've got awsome defense and attack, but they remind me of the SalvagemechMods that way. They've got high attack with repair, but they can't do much of anything else, and they're too costly to have sitting around when they're not repairing, which is most of the game. I'm a little disappointed BR doesn't get one. Yes, we have our "1-click-of-repair-that-doesn't-ignore-repair-markers-faction pride," but that doesn't really cut it. Our units' stats degrade too fast, and our starting defenses are generally too low, (besides OEJ) for 1 click to be all that useful, because on my opponent's next turn that unit will get hit again. So without a BR dedicated RV, I still won't be able to play faction-pure Bannson's Raiders armies in restricted tournaments. Not with the units I actually own. I can understand new factions needing units, but with the smaller sets, those units come at the expense of many other factions.
