Can't you guys see? It is Clan Wolf in Exile or that is probably going to be released. Especially since Phelan Kell will be the classic pilot in the marquee. The Madcat IV also appears to be painted in Clan Wolf red and gray.
Where does it say that Phelan Kell will be the classic pilot in the marquee? And do you even know what the Clan Wolf paint schemes are?
I suspect that the new faction may also have something to Victor Steiner Davion's assasination. Then maybe framed the Senate for it. I think WK may have finally decided to reveal the outcome of this long story arc. For now, I will code name the new faction as the "Sith" faction.
Well, I have a guess (yes, and hopeful conjecture as well).
These are the facts (sort of):
1. In the latest chat it was stated that MW: Annihilation will see the last of the "child" factions.
2. Come January, there will be four sets legal (Falcon's Prey, Age of Dest., Firepower, and Annihilation) not counting Domination.
3. Of the fours sets, the Steel Wolves are included in only one.
4. Kevin Goddard has stated that the mystery faction is brand new.
So, according to the chat, we won't see Steel Wolves in Domination or Clan Wolf/Clan Wolf in Exile either. That faction, however, needs new pieces because of the small number they would have legal with the retirement of Liao Incursion and Counterassault.
The mystery faction must have something to do with the Steel Wolves to boost their numbers (unless Ras Dominion is absorbing them which I find unlikely).
Here's my hopeful conjecture/story guess. Anastasia Kerensky returns to WIE, reinforces, and returns with a new Black Widow Squadron :) Or maybe even Clan Widowmaker reborn.
Or the new faction could be the people responsible for the HPG blackout. Either option I would love.
Nah, it's going to be Clan Fire Mandrill. C'mon now, who wouldn't want a bunch of flaming monkeys running around the battlefield :) ? Their totem animal is a mysterious grey primate wearing a white T-shirt with the letters "I.R." on it. For some odd reason it's always accompanied by a brown weasel. Clan historians have yet to decipher that and why their totem animal seems to enjoy picking its nose
You really have missed the thrust of Kevin G's points haven't you?
WK don't intend individual factions to be viable any more. They expect the alliances to be viable - hence why they exist.
So whilst you won't see Wolves, you will see Steiner...
So you're saying that with the five legal sets, the Steel Wolves will only have pieces from one (Age of Destruction) and will need to rely on pieces from their temporary Grand Alliance with House Steiner? I find this unlikely.
On a side note, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that it was unintentional, but your first sentence felt somewhat condecending. I've been part of these boards for a long time, have read and respected many of your posts and those of other long standing members, but I must tell you that the words many of you use (either intentional or unintentional) do seem to belittle others.
I know this seems out of the blue, but I've just finished reading the "retirement" rant and although I don't agree with the original poster, I can see how he got so "rilled up".

I'm not justifying it. Maybe you're in Domination. I don't know. I think they're having a Wolf hiatus because I honestly believe Clan Wolf is around the corner and that you'll be launched with more fanfare than any previous faction.

That wasn't my intent. Problem is with electronic communication the intonation is missed. Some call my writing pompous but I've always been this way, always written in this way. If that offends I apologise.

:)
herne222 just gets riled. He's an angry kind of guy. And he tends to write in such a way that he provokes a like reaction. Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don't. I definitely do not like the way he presents his case. He seems to write straight from his heart to the keyboard. ;)
But you gotta admit, he has character. Definitely our "Mr Angry".
And if that's condescending I apologise. It's meant to be humorous.
I bet the BR will be absorbed completely sometime in the future, either into the new faction or into Liao. The storyline I see is something along the lines of new evil faction A comes into play and somehow Bannson gets killed leaving his Raiders to be controlled by either Liao or faction A.
Since they seem to have put the BR/Liao alliance on hold for more than a year now (at least since "By Temptations and By War" released - before the Falcon invasion), and since the Raiders still haven't been outright absorbed by Liao, I am betting that we will see some type of "Faction War"-style event to determine the Raiders' fate. Will they win the battle and remain an independent faction, or will they lose and become just another militia within the Confederation?
Seems to me that if Kevin said it'll be a new faction, then it'll probably be a new faction. Remember that Bannson's and the Republic itself had no direct "ancestor" in CBT.
