How did the award thing go on, how long did it last , did they present you with mech trophy?
I know you would beat my army, still i wished we could fight for the second time too.
Again congrats on your new title.
Thanks to Anup, ComRaven, Bewolf,Rearly and all the players for a 3 days of fun, i'm still gasping for air.
It's interesting to me that the Jack/Julz/BAP-Nebula/Kisho/Double Rate army didn't fare as well as it did. That's another army concept I'd been batting around in my head as a possible Worlds idea, and it seems to match up pretty well with the other posted armies I saw.
Trev, that was my army and it went OK. I only pulled a double rate at the Kill n' Keep on the Friday, so the playtesting was a little thin! The synergy between Jack and Nebula is amazing - they are pretty weak when alone, but add them up and they're great. In the 3 constructed games, it really struggled against a Jack/Alpha/Kelswa drop army (same idea, bigger range), only just lost to a Shiro/Black Blade army - my opponent was incredibly slow, couldn't work out how to use his Shiro with Caverns in effect while I was allowed to shoot through terrain. Had he been playing at normal speed, then the Shiro that had 1 click of life left would have gone. Game 3 was against Brinxter's twin Lokis and it won pretty well.
My progress stopped on Sunday morning when I came up against Brinxter's army (again!). I had added Merc FP (that 11 att on the Nebula isn't the best, and you usually have to exposse Jack to get that extra minus 1). Bottom line is that my first 3 rolls of the game were all crit misses, Nebula was 2 clicks down - game over. I still like the army and am working to improve on it - best of all it meets the criteria for the UK Nats - I'd love to hear your views on the build (pm or open chat).

Well tbh, your army was scary as hell!!
And imho you should have won, because i didnt have a clue how i could beat it.
6 dmg on the CJF Loki would have put it way past its pulse goodness, and i really think you need to make a capture formation with that inf drop. (maybe try to put some bypass in it... that will scare the **** out of any mech playing opponent.
Mercy Zeus + Tony Rivera
CNC Nightstalker + att+1 def+1 gen. pilot
2x RD Undine
RD CBA
RD Gnome
2x WH CBA
BR Thunderbird BA
I played the Zeus before and I really hated it then. If something accidently hits it. It cannot hit anything else. It has 14 inch streak and a 22 Defense, those ability’s in draft/sealed are king. I made an army of 599 points and this was the prime reason for success.
My first opponent
Had a Violator and Haria a lot of inf. He tried to pin my Zeus with his HS Slyph and a VTOL. While moving Haria in the rear arc of Mercy unfortunatly the Zeus also has Reactive Armour so My opponent that he would try to throw Crits……
He did throw very good indeed averaging a 13+ but still either he is a very skilled dice roller or someone in denial of statistic probablities.
2nd opponent
I played Tom Tjpandv’s son he might be called Mr. Pringles the 2nd. The youngest competitor around 12 I belief. The kid has true hart and went on He played a Liao Loki and Julian Davion + 5 HD inf. All pretty expensive and the HD FP, the damage one. He had some trouble positioning around Mercy and he knew he had to attack as my army was 599 vs. his 594 I was in fortress mode with Mercy inside a H-building and my inf. and 2nd mech behind it. I took out his loki and violator after he missed the Nighstalker. Then his infantry marched up the field and did their darnest to capture my nightstalker the last piece succeeded.
3th opponent
This was a very tactical army,
I played vs. Boldrick of Slovenia. He hangs out a lot in the SH/HS strategy threads. His army was 2 RD pieces HH with a 23/24 defense and a Medium with 22 Defense. We manouvered around each other after which I got 3 attempts to shoot at HH all miss, his Medium tried to flank me at which point my whole army wheeled and faced it. After several attempts to hit it I finally hit. They degrade slow but He failed to hit Mercy as well HH joined the party but I wisely left it alone as his damage output is only 2. He finally managed to hit Mercy at which point I elminated his Medium.
He could not CC or Charge Mercy as it was in his H-building screened by inf. I let him attack Mercy While I slowly destroyed his support. Till time was called.
It was a most enjoyable battle a very tactical and difficult one.
4th opponent
We switched to constructed and because I was on 3 wins already probably in the top 16 I decided I could afford to field test Vengeance. I only needed 1 win.
I played vs. Stefano of Italy a nice guy who knows maybe and I didn’t relish playing his army as in my mind he had the tactical advantage. He was surrounded by blocking with Jack in the middle and a WH TD+Merc FP. Next to this there was SW Alpha.
All in all a good army. He had a good position. And this would be trouble for Esperanza and Vengeance. After some manoeuvring he suddenly moved Jack against Esperanza after which I shot and finished it of the next turn. Without his ability to negate blocking I could fight him on relative even terms and killed the Mjolnir in short order. The lone tank was salvaged and all he had left was 2 Miniguns and 1 R10.
5th Opponent
I played Ashen who used Yami+Kuro Ha and some atv’s basicly it was a range monster. He claimed to be a beginner who just played for fun, he made some mistakes and felt the rules where a bit in the way of gameplay. I must say it is not an attitude I care much for. He beat me more by time and me being able to miss a 6 with a 12 IT Esperanza. He won.
6th Opponent
I now faced Ian Pelgrim, he is a player who I rate at my own level. He is levelheaded builds solid armies and understand the tactics of the game. He played the CNC NC vet. The other 16 inch mech. Next to that he played the WH Mjolnir and a TGR Bishop drop and some ATV’s. A very flexiable army. In My own country he is my main opponent.
He used his range advantage very good I attack him around a corner with Esperanza and failed, my Vengeance tried the same it also failed. After that he made short order of my Mechs.
I qualified as 10th for the next day finals. 4 rounds elimination.
After an exhausting day and night I decided to rethink my army.
I decided that I prefer to fight at range. And switched out the CJF PH1 for a CNC PH1 and upgraded the HD Bishop to a RotS Bishop 1 click of life more.
MC Pull together
PC Perfect Day
PC Heavy Fog
PC Dust Storm
1st opponent Knock off.
My First battle in the Knock-off stage was against a flamboyant Frenchman He played 3 WH Mjolnir and the WH Mongrel and the Merc FP.
When I saw this army I was a bit worried. I mean I expected all kinds of army types but not a whole Lance. And fighting the unexpected usually nets results. He also had 2 +3 attack pilots. Fortunatly for me he was very reckless allowing me to knock out 2 Mjolnirs at range after 4 damage they are not much of a threat any more. I then withdrew to take advantage of my range while he overheated to get close. Making sure that 2 Mjolnirs where destroyed an 1 salvaged Mjolnir when time was called.
My 2nd opponent Knock-off
I had to play Ian again.
He also tweaked his army a bit upgrading his TGR’s from Highlanders to BR and taking only CNC Atv’s.
This would be a tense battle as it always is between us. We manouvered around a piece of blocking staying at range. Then he dropped his TGR drop to kill 1 of my ATV’s indirectly. Which he did.
Time was pressing me a bit and I started to move closer, Ian made one mistake and left his Bishop high and in range of Alpha who took the shot salvaging his Bishop and killing the TGR as they don’t have JJ. From then on the pressure was with Ian. He took some daring actions and pushed his NC to base my PH1 The Mjolnir exchanged shots with Alpha and was salvaged. At that time I was thinking I must be able to win this. I was hammering his NC with my TTL’s and salvaged it as well. He ran his Mjolnir towards his CT repaired it then charged my PH1 he failed his plan was to salvage the PH1 and repair his NC salvaged at this point then use his MC to win VC 2 and VC 4. He did not get the time to do this and failing the charge meant he could not salvage my PH1
A tight battle indeed. His only mistake was the Bishop and leaving it within range of Alpha. As such he recovered magnificently.
3th Opponent Ghost
I played a very polite quiet Frenchman who I played last year as well, he was then a pure beginner and his army impressed me.
Chikaku+Boris
WH Mjolnir
Highl Hadur + meatshield
Same ATV’s
TGR drop
He played Urban and I played Heavy Fog the joke was we where playing in London instead of Paris. He was very concerned about my range advantage as Chikaku was in a H-building I could hammer it from 16 inch. As such he decided to charge out with the Mjolnir he failed the charge although the move completely surprised me. It always does. I destroyed the Mjolnir after which Chikaku followed out with his TGR drop.
By parking my ATV’s on a space he needed to drop it allowed me to shoot at Chikaku from 16 inches away. He took time trying to clear away my ATV’s but Chikaku went shutdown in the process our Arty was very good at missing because of the Hvy Fog. I finished of Chikaku and was not in the Final.
4th opponent Brinxter
I am always something of a nemesis for Brinxter and it didn’t help that I designed his army for him. I did advised him to replace Kaze with Esperanza but he preferred Kaze for heat dial management and the late pulse.
I had to play a dust storm which would give him a slight edge I felt he had to play a perfect day.
He placed a large water vertical across the field I placed 2 blocking next to it and he had another water piece on top of his water creating a T shape. He advanced with 2 Loki's towards the first water keeping his ATV close. I manouvered my Bishop to my left behind the blocking while my Alpha and PH1 waited at the bottom side of the T.
He moved up to the top side and I took a Shot at Kaze his CJF Loki was behind Kaze. I hit Kaze for 5 and missed with the CNC PH1. I then believed I could base both. I made a mistake here and could not base the CJF Loki. I based Kaze and got worried.
Because of the range He had to move Kaze in order to AO with 5 pulse at my Mechs. Lucky for me he failed to break with Kaze. Then he charged with the CJF Loki at my Alpha doing 6 damage. I was in trouble and got a dilemma either I shoot at Kaze it already had 5 damage or attack the CJF Loki who was really hot 1 energy damage and it would be shutdown. I decided trying to save Alpha as Kaze was based. In the mean while my TTL’s went in overtime shooting. Targeting both Loki’s. In the next few turns I pushed then repaired them they ended up doing 8 damage to both Loki’s. Brinxter was unlucky as well. He figured that after charging Alpha he wanted to take out my CNC PH1 with his CJF Loki and he missed although I was Shutdown he was in base to base with Alpha. Then he tried to ripple fire Alpha with 3 ATV’s needing 15 to hit instead of trying for a formation shot with the he had 1 CNC ATV and 2 HK ATV’s. The HK hit but the CNC missed as it was at that time Alpha was 2 clicks from Salvage. My TTL’s salvaged both Loki’s and I won the Match.
It was a great game. I think he should have focused more on Alpha as it was.
Kotch, the fog in the London of the 1950s was nothing to laugh about either... because of the pollution it literally killed people. Hm, sounds like an idea for another Planetary Condition.
Hi! Excuse me for the delay, I have one Championship to organize and it occupies a lot of my time.
I'm very happy that Brix and Elite are the finalists of the European Championship, I know them and I consider them two of the better player I've ever meet.
They are really good player on the fields of battles and really good persons out of them, congrats.
Congrats to everyone, It was a good Champ even if I was not lucky. :p
I've not seen the armies that I waited for. (were are true grid? Mercenary contracts? Pannichello sisters?Solitude?SA BR/SwSw + Panni?)
This was my army:
Mercenary contract
2 x Mercenary Paladin D.S.
Mjolnir WH+ Antipersonnel + Graduate Certificate Albion (+0+1+1)
Jack "Nightstalker"+ Julie LE
R10 WH + Kelswa WH
600 points
I think was a good army, but evidently I wrong :nervous:
I recently got a phelan ward and his card - seems to me this guy can neutralise any mech on the oppsing team using zellbringen, and then just run away? he doesn't even need to get shot by one? that seems to be pretty powerful in a tournament setting, was that used much at gencon?
Need to gather information for uk nats, Im planning on winning this year :P
