That's what I was wondering. I think they might be a little overpowered, even if they would fit in the point value of the game. A 23" range is frightening. IT seems to me that the only one that might be viable is the Living Balista, since it doesn't have indirect fire rules...it seems to play more like the regular peices.
If they do fit in Rebellion, it could be really fun to have an 'assult the cannon' senario. So far the've tried to make everything fit within Rebellion/conquest, we'll see about these too.
They're definetly viable in regular MK Games, the costs on these vary(some are obviously stronger than others). In a 200pt game you could easily use them though it may be swarm bait, as the points get higher their usefullness goes up as well. Anything over 400-500pts would allow for one to be used fairly easily. But they do have a Titan base so gotta watch out about those swarms!
Some work well against castles and MDF's, others work well againts hordes of figures in Conquest, and I think all could work well just singling out any one figure and taking a shot at it.
A castle really can't do much on its own, in general during Sieges the catapaults, etc were kept back and hammered the castle while the castle could do nothing. That is unless you give it its own cannons/catapaults/etc!!!!
About the 96 page rule-book, please don't let that discourage you. Its size is deceiving and its more of a guide than one big rule book, it includes Conquest Rules, rules on the various Conquest figures(Tanks, Castles, etc) and the basic Rebellion Rules, in addition lots of other cool stuff!
O.K maybe it won't be THAT bad kinda cool now that I think about it
I reckon after another few years wizkids will have crushed warhammer since now we have the whole fullscale battle thing going
They most definetly can attack in close combat! How I'm not quite sure but the book doesn't say they can't.
The book is really quite nice, very little new info, basically just all the stuff put in one place(Tank, Titan, Castle, etc), more a guide than a rule book.
1 million points is just... too much. lol
I guess the artillery attacking in close combat thing represents the crews and stuff fighting... Kinda wierd anyway, since you never even see the crews on the base. ;-)
