I don't know. The thing is I am a Fantasy geek and a Sci Fi geek and it is tempting to think about playing MWDA. If the price is 10 us dollars well that pretty much kills that thought because of the canadian price would be 15 dollars for 4 figs. Lets just say a starter and a booster will be all i need. I think that is enough because of the alternate win conditions.
I plan on buying one booster and if the Mech is cool, put it on a Steamer base after a paint job.
If it's REALLY cool, say hello to the new Stomper!
Good luck geting it on a stomper base. Maybe you can get 1 foot on a stomper base if you are really lucky. They have HUGE bases
As for MWDA I am going to have to say from the looks and rumors I have heard that it will be my main game. The figures are really well done and it looks like a lot more fun then MK (MK has gone stale with the same drab 200 point armies and tourneys. It's quality of play has gone down hill fast as well).
I'll still have MK and HC just not as much as I used to. I'll just keep what I play which is what I have been doing since the turn of the year.
I'll be playing both, I have played CBT and other BT/MW universe games, I dont spend all that much money right now on this stuff, and dont plan to increase spending a whole lot :) but I will be doing both, I been waiting for MW since I heard about it
Oh, and Haiku, inflammatory remarks such as that wont be tolerated!!!!! (kidding :D )
btw quark, I think your sig is wrong.... 147 + 31 + 19 doesnt equal 257 arties :D just thought I would let you know....
I guess I can be considered a sci-fi geek although I am not really an avid gamer. I would like to go into BattleTech, but I do not have many funds and I do not think I should spend alot of money on collectables anymore. I am going to be sticking to Mage Knight, although the temptation to go over the Mech Warrior's more dense rules is something that I like. I put alot of money into Mage Knight (470 dollars to be exact) and I do not want it going down the drain. If I ever want to quit this game for good, I will open bids here on the Realms, which may sooner than I hope for.
Here is the line from my sig. You'll see that everything adds up just fine. I put in bold a couple of things to make sure you would read it correctly. Hope that clears it up for you :)
147 **Troll Artillerists. 257 total arties (31* 19***), troll gunners (14* 6** 5***) and woodland snipers (28** 7***).
IF I could only choose one I would have to stay with MK. My monetary investment (>$1000) is just too great at this time. But, I think I will have enough money to do both. Or, alteast I will try. ;)
I've reduced my MK holdings in anticipation. I now have maybe 300 figs, all of which are of potential use. I decided not to collect (except Uniques), and have gotten rid of all the extras, probably 2500 figs in all. With the money I made off the sales, I'll buy the MWDA.
BTW, anyone want to buy a Raydan Marz and Black Thorne?
Frenzy
They'll be with me. I am hoping to just get 3 more of those little buggers to have 200 even in total arties and 150 blue. They'll probably be handcuffed to my wrist though (the case that is) or I'll have an armed security guard with me with the instructions to shoot to kill anyone who gets to close ;)
I have also slim lined my figures down. Down to about 700 figs (not counting my 250+ EL ranged figs). Because I knew I would get hit by a new type of plastic crack
I really REALLY want to play Mech but i dont have the time or the money. at the moment i am not playing MK due to a lack of time and interest int he area so if anyone wants to buy a fairly large amount of MK including some uniques and an le send me a message
I'll give you those 3 extra Arties (I have about 20 ** and *** myself) just to see your 200 set completed. I'll look for you (and your bodyguard) at GenCon. You can probably find me playing wherever the Worlds are. Not sure if I want to play tho... (see other thread about Worlds being 3 days long...)
This is probably going to sound crazy, but I got a chance to catch the view of the minions release before it was withdrawn. As I recall, it was only 4 figures, and yet it had a suggested value higher than that of sinister. (Around 7-8 bucks, IIRC)
I've seen at least one promo Mechwarrior figure, and to my knowledge they are about the same size as a MK titan.
So here's the thought that suddenly hit me. You don't supose that the reason Minions costs more is that one of the 4 figs is a titan?
I enjoy playing all three variations of WizKid's games, but I don't think I'll get more than a few boosters of MW. A few players in my group borrow my Mage Knight figures when we play. I'll probably due the same for them since I know those players are intending on investing in MW heavily.
I got enough spent on Mage Knight & Heroclix and will be spending more with all the stuff coming out this year. Plus I never really liked Battletech before.
