The point is, be aware that not all ideas presented on the realms, not matter how confident the idea's originator may be, are not necessarily based on the requisite amount of proper conceptualization and/or playtesting, whatever is needed for that particular player to develop his/her theory. You cannot blame each person singly if his/her theory is not "up to snuff", because each player has no real way to gauge his/her play ability (or at least, many do not exercise their play abilities often enough), and similarly, you cannot expect them to let their ideas go despite explanations (which most will inevitably disregard as some kind of attack towards their character), as the player obviously did not understand why their concept does not work if they were confident enough to share it publicly in the first place.
I would like to know why the other thread was pulled. From what i can gather it seems like it was an aggressive exchange of ideas -- many of which were controversial. Is that against the rules at the realms now? What is proper cause for pulling a thread anyway?
There wasn't much nastyness in that thread. I am sure it was going to get there. I do wonder why it was pulled.
I am always ammused by "GA (or whaterver) sucks. But that isn't what I am here to talk about." If it isn't what you wanted to talk about then why bring it up. Oh yea, that's right you need to be annoying.
Had I posted any of that with a realms name with a high post count, I seriously doubt the mods would have touched it. While I was obviously having fun, I did keep my posts at least game related, and I did move Collja's conversation to PM, because he is a representative of WK as a warlord, and I felt he was potentially going to embarass himself in overreaction; obviously not totally malicious. I do have the entire "guide" still. I could post it again, and some sort of bedlam would likely ensue, raising the post counts of many, but need I mention how alive the realms were when it was up? The community needs stimuli. Though I must say, I was impressed that anyone read enough of the actual "guide" to find a topic (the topic of this thread) to discuss.
Anyway, I wouldn't necessarily call the thread a "bash". To me a bash is an insulting public post proclaiming that something "sucks", but without any underlying logic provided to support the opinion. As I used GA as an example for a larger point, the theme of the post was in fact the underlying logic and its application. You don't have to agree with that; I'm obviously not a professional writer and won't claim I can clearly communicate anything to anyone through writing, but that does not mean that I did not intend for the post to be constructed thus. I knew either way it would draw the desired response, but I prefer my original post to be properly structured if I can help it.
Now now, I didn't post this to "bait" you if that's what you're suggesting. If I had meant to, your responses would have been satisfying enough, trust me. But in reality I was looking for a more civil response, one that had an opinion expressed within, or none at all. The reason why threads such as the "guide" turn into "flamewars" is because of posts like that. If you think I'm wrong, show your superior maturity and use your logic to dissuade me, but until you do that, I think it's silly for someone to sling playground insults while pretending to look down on the person he's slinging them at.
"handles" on a internet board. Collja along with a group of us have actively went out to find the better players to test ourselves against. I do not think there is any pretending of looking down on anyone going on here either. Do you have a point in all of this? Yes but we do not use langue to persuade others. We allow our game to speak for itself. So if you would liked to be "dissuade" then Collja or any of us would be more than happy to set down and play a few games. The boards are used as a communication tool. Some of the communication is not worth anything and parts of it are. It is up to each person to choose what they feel is worth it or not. Theory, stab in the dark, strategy, pulling it out of your ***, or whatever one would like to call or define something as is all fine but saying it and doing it are two totaly different ideas. So if you would like ot back somethings up then lets go.
By the way the faith healer*** works fine. that is what we have always used (Golempower to 32 in nationals and Wkura final 8 in nationals)
It would be quite convenient were we able to play over the internet, as I prefer to teach with figures as well. However, it seems the only game going on here is the Milton Bradley favorite, "Who is condescending who?" I find it odd that you, whom I do not know and have not addressed, feel threatened or challenged by me. I trust you won't feel so strongly in a few hours time, at least. And thank you for your input on the Faith Healer (you are referring to my army, correct?) I have found that in practice I like the Faith Healer more than the shaman, at least mine anyway, which seem cursed to miss.
Now, I can't make comments about myself because they aren't 'opinion'? (come here mini-fly). Just about every post I have has a backhanded reference to me. Including the last one.
All we have on the realms is talk. No game, no terrain, no dice, no time limits, just talk. All statements are just a valid as any other. Such is the joy of the internet. It is up to the reader to filter the good from the bad. You have no idea how old, wise, rich or educated the poster unless you know them personally.... wait, I just got a good deal on Nigerian oil millions.
Guides almost turn into a flame war because of phrases such as. "That tactic is bad. If you can't understand that then it isn't my problem. Please don't talk about it any more." There is something intellectually wrong about that
Now, I remeber my I like walls, sunrises and gunpowered so much.
"I find it odd that you, whom I do not know and have not addressed, feel threatened or challenged by me."
Well who on these boards do you know? Most of us do not know any of the people who are on the boards. I do know Collja and others that I have either traveled to play or play localy.
Others have come forward without being addressed, though i can understand your surprise.
I do not feel threatened and challenged is questionable. Maybe where you are from it is different but here it is put up or shut up.
Now I am not sure if there is some underlined meaning in the "internet...teach" but I am sure we both could teach each ther a few things.
