If they start banning, I'm gone, it's that simple. I learned the hard way from magic that banning and even having different type for tournies sucks. Plain and simple. No figure is truely obsalate some are just easier to use then others.

Santa was intentionally made without a green starting area, and he hasnt been errated like some figures. If you look at the game rules, the part about setting up the game, it says set all figures to their starting positions, which is determined by the green box. Santa doesnt a green starting area, so he is not legal, even on Christmas Eve.
Or they could display some common sense, instead of depending on a relatively obscure rule.
Define Santa as a promotional figure. By definition then, he's ineligible for tournament play. Just like the rest of 'em. :D
Do you guys really think banning ruined Magic? They have only banned a hand ful of cards. In doing so they have insure the formats have been flourishing for years. They also incourage the use of the banned cards in casual formats, and are constantly watching to see if the formats are strong enough to allow the cards to come back. Big events are getting more players than ever, and the players are happy with the game unlike Mageknight. They even offered redemption packs for each rare you sent in that they banned. Mageknight has publicly stated that they will use the "head in sand" technique and just pretend their is nothing wrong with the game. Which is better for the long term of the game? Magic has been around for a decade and is growing still, MK is going down in numbers after just a few years.
If you would quit because they made the game better by removing their mistakes than the game will probably be better off with out you.
I believe magic bans the old sets themselves so that you must continue to buy their cards from the newer sets to make new decks. I play it as well and still play though i like star wars ccg (by decipher a whole lot more!) Thats a good card game. But anyways what is the normal time for a game and average point armies and what is conquest?
AgNRyudo: That is exactly what WotC does to support magic. I cannot play my classic Red lighting deck...because half of my cards are Tournament Illegal. Of course...all of my cards are beta, legends and unlimited...but it still makes me mad.
Anyone out there who supports Banning care to make a list of those figures that "unbalance" the gaming environment beyond the hope of resurrection?
i know what your talking about. I cant hardly play my kill em all blue white. i have a nasty combo in it. I play this card that gives me 20 life when it comes into play. then when it leaves play you lose 20 life. However i play it then turn i change it so its under my opponents control then destroy it dealing 20 damage to them which in most cases by that point in the game im at 30 hp and they are at around 10 or less.
First, I hope they never ban figures, I just don't see it as a correct policy. And as far as I know, WK has firmly stated that they don't intend to do so. Restricting figures, like no MDFs and Titans in Rebellion games, would be the way to go IMHO.
I quit playing MtG because keeping up was getting difficult. When I started playing, there were no different formats like today (Type 1, Type 2), so you could play your cards, except for the ante cards and a few other banned like channel.
So, after years spending an obscene amount of money on cards, my Mana Drains, Drop of Honey, Island of Wak Wak, Moat and others would only be playable in Type 1. That's when I sold almost everything and traded a little later the rest of my cards for a DVD player :D

Your source for this information?
I would think the speed at which Minions sold out would indicate that Mage Knight is still going strong and growing. I know at my venue it is the only game that is constantly getting new players (MWDA is growing, but at a slower rate).
they might not have already banned units, but the release of figures like corpheus, the striker, amazon draconum, stonethrowers, and the other long striking figures have made so the use of about 80-85% of the current figures is suicide to use in the current enviroment??
Some of you thinking having armies that ALWAYS include the same 4 or 5 figures is a good thing?? I mean if you got rid of those 5 or 6 figures, everyone will admit a ton of figures just became..gasp..useful again!
I know there are some power gamers who couldn't live without their precious bounders but a majority of gamers would probably be happy to kiss their butts goodbye from this game and free a large majority of figures from their "useless" box.
everyone will admit a ton of figures just became..gasp..useful again!
While it may appear that way, it really isn't.
Remove any dozen figs you want from the game; it won't make a bunch of new figs playable, there will just be a new dozen figs that move up to take their place.
Figs are not equal. In any subset of the set there will be the 'top dozen'. It's the environment that should change if you want variety.
Bshrug, I must have spent thousands of dollars and magic just to keep my deck 'legal'. Never mind the fact that commons that are powerful are no longer made, hymn to touarch baby. Mk on the other hand, I can pretty much play what I want. I know that banning ruined magic for me and my group, I was just an idiot and took longer to figure this out.
My source? Looking at how many people are showing up at MK events in most areas, large tournaments, the billions of MK is dying posts, and the amount of traffic on the MKrealms forums and Mageknight.com forums. Minions selling out? Of course it will, they are not printing as much as they did lancers or WW as a ton of the factory time is being taken up with MWDA, heroclix etc
Wizards offers multiple formats for Magic including type 1 (classic) that allows all non banned cards to be played. The formats can be equally supported by venues all over. The reason venues dont run them is because the players dont come, they enjoy the refreshment of new formats.
Wizards realized early on that rotation is nessesary to keep the game healthy. If they kept all the power cards viable in every format than the only way new cards would be popular is if they topped the power level of the older cards. The escalation would ruin the game. Wizkids is trying the escalation approach and as a result we have corpheus, AD, Bakus, OST and the other figs that most of you guys are complaining about over on different threads.
How many of you who are against banning are also posting in other threads that constructed formats are no fun because of the "cheese" figs, or that there is only a couple of viable army types?
If you got out of magic because you thought that you werent allowed to play your favorite power nine deck than you got out for a stupid reason. No one held a gun to your head and told you that you couldnt play it. Wizards of the coast bends over backward to make their players happy. They have made mistakes in the past, but since they were the first ones to do it they are allowed to make a few mistakes. They admit their mistakes and try to correct them. Wizkids screws up on a regular basis when the collectable games market has been around for a decade, however their approach is to say "um we meant to do that" and "there is nothing wrong with that" in most situations. They are getting better in some areas though.
Drache: Commons more powerful than hymn to tourach are still being printed. A couple of Basking Rootwallas(anti-Discard as well as great creatures) in hand is much better than Hymn to Tourach, and the precission nature of Duress or Cabal Therapy (Discard cards similar to Hymn) is often more of a game winner than the Hymn can be. I have made thousands of dollars both trading Magic as well as winning in it. I have followed the formats and am completely convinced that if they never split the formats, than the game would have failed.
