My friend uses an orc cyclops in his 2000 point conquest army and i use brp with hill giant. The cyclops is the hardest thing to kill in his army. He has a formation of goblin volenteers in front of it, and when he gets close enough, he splits them and lets the cyclops through to destroy. Do you have any suggestions on how to take it out?

Just a guess here, but I think Tyrantelite is looking for a way to defeat the DBOC with Black Powder Rebel figures... just a guess...
I know that my suggestions are not that great, BUT, I did suggest BPR...
BadMonky, if you stay far enough away from the VSD it' won't get first strike... The most it will hit for is 8/7 since the Cyclops should hit it first on the front
Best way to deal with the cyclops AND the gobs all at once:
The Tank.
The Dwarven Steam Behemoth can drop moartars from 20" out, blasting everything within 3" of the central target for 5 damage.
you hit 3 imps and the cyclops, next round, follow up with a Standard (non-mortar) shell to the cyclops and WHAM, he's down below 6 damage. next thing you know, he'll be trying to fall bakc, you'll be rolling towards him.
Alternately: The GFD has a 20" maximum range, or a 26" bound attack (side, side, rear, then shoot out the front) which can be comboed with Flame/lightning for goblin-killing fun.
Unforunate, but true. Also, the explosive damage can be reduced by Toughness.
So, you could hit the Imps/Volunteers and destroy them, but the Cyclops would be unaffected until you made a direct hit. And with a 10 or better to hit, It would be hard to pull off.
This is important to me as well because my buddy just bought one of these nasty creatures. For BPR my favorite formations for taking out big guys is definitely with ranged attacks. These are my two favorite formations.
First
Dwarven Stomper
4 Sniper (use whatever strength you have because they are supporting the Stompers heavy attack and damage.
Stomper: 13 attack + 4 =17; 4 damage +4 =8. That is definitely a great first hit.
Second
Amazon Huntress
4 Snipers
Huntress: 11 attack+4 = 15; 3 damage +4 =7. She has pierce so the damage inflicked will be the same as the stompers against his toughness. Either way if you roll a 5 or better you've nailed him.
As for the imps let them screen you as you set up your attack. I'm sure you can take care of the imps. or watever it is he is using. If you can use both of these you will hurt him bad in just one turn. Once you drop he defense a little bit you should be able to base him with a good strong melee squad and have no problem taking him out.
Tyrantelite if you want to take down my DBOC try using you're IRHG it will work wonders against it but it needs limited support.

The best way to deal with the Orc Titan is through the use of terrain. Unlike the all the other Titans, the Orc has no range attack. This can be a big disadvantage if you set up terrain just right. My favorite is using 2 deep water terrain pieces placed next to each other that can allow a formation to fit between them and nothing else. You can take potshots at the Orc Titan as much as you want without having to worry about being based by him.
well, you could first make a mortar hit to one govlin volunteer, then a tank shot, and they will, die, if you fixed the tank in the correct posittion, you can hit with the front, the orc cyclops!
The best way to deal with the Cyclops or the Giants is to eat up their actions while you kill off his support.
The best way to eat up their actions is to base them out of arc with a sneak-attacker. Nightfiends are perfect foils for the big Titans. They can't do a move-attack when based, so they either have to waste an action breaking or waste an action spinning.
You trade action tokens on a ~50 point figure for tokens on a 436 point figure. If you can't win the rest of the battle while that's going on, you can't win anything! :)
Obviously, the Giant/Cyclops player will have some support if he's smart, but unless that support can kill your sneaker in one shot, you've still disabled the titan. Meanwhile, you can go after his support with your stuff, of course!
And the cool thing about the ** and *** Nightfiend is the Quickness, good amount of click, and the Vamprism allows them to have good survivablity on the field against other units.
Another Sneak Attack alternative is the Spirit Taker. It is much cheaper, has Stealth, and still has 10 inch movement. At 19 points a piece, you can field 2 * Spirit Takers and have a few points to spare instead of the ** Nightfiend.
you can pretty much kill the Cyclops any way you want to, it's pretty stinky, just base it with any decent formation and it'll die, it will have support, you'll have more support...
also, base it with Quickness figures just to tie it up, stalking skellies are the best against titans because if they Dodge the attack, what a pain! and if the Cyclops player wants to waste an action just to Ram a stalking Skellie, great!
BobChalmers, sounds like you are suggesting using Sneak Attack on the Cyclops... which would not work since Titans don't have rear arcs.... but it does keep the Titan from being able to smack the sneak attacker.
