If they are such different figures (which it is obvious they are), then why even screw around with naming it the same as an older figure?
This is why I think they may break from the HC issue (even though the odds are I am wrong):
I know that people will claim that it is done this way for that stinking story-line reason........ But, if it would be story line:
1) How does an older/wiser Anunub lose certain SA's he had 15 years ago? Physical abilities = Maybe; Magic Abilities = More of that "really cool fiction".
2) How could you actually play both Nub's (and future figs this happens with), while trying to keep with storyline........As goofy as I think some of these story-line excuses can be, and as seemingly unbelievable some of this new fiction has become, not even I believe that WK would create a story-line in which both Anunubs are present at the same time.......
Perhaps they are like John Smith, and there would be many John Smiths around the MK world. Actually, their real names are Anunub Smith and Anunub Jones. Surprise: They really are two different guys!
Enough of the goofiness, but I believe that what I have said many times before would hold true here. Personally, I believe that there will be a rule prohibiting "same name" unique/LE figures in the same army. This would make more sense(....and I can't believe I am using story-line as my evidence....) as a story-line issue, and as another way to move players away from using 1.0 figs.
I've always claimed that this would be a slow, progressive death to many 1.0 figures, and right or wrong, this is just a cog in that machine. Don't bother telling me that 1.0 figures will be playable, etc., because that is not what I'm saying. Sure, some figures become more playable, but not necessarily playable.
The perfect combination to do this is:
1) Limit the effectiveness of highly played 1.0 figures
2) Enhance the playability of lesser played 1.0 figures, but not necessarily making them that much better.
3) Re-introduce popular named characters from 1.0, in 2.0, but limit to one or the other in an army......not both......and which one do you think will be used? LOL....the ones with relics silly!
I don't even think its a bad idea to make these popular figures, Uniques in 2.0. Actually, I think its a pretty good one! Just don't try to convince me that this isn't well thought out, and a "strategy" as we move into the future.......I ain't buying!:D
Sure, if they start releasing bigger, better, more playable 2.0 figures to phase out 1.0 uniques, I'll be mad, but I don't see them doing that.
Really ?
Let's be realistic here, they've been doing this throughout the games development with pretty much each new set of Uniques and LE's.
How else can the game survive, if everyone can just keep their favourite army and not bother upgrading then sales go through the floor and our game is no more.
So long as what is produced is still fun and good quality for the cash paid, I don't mind too much how many versions of 'nub or any other Unique they make.

First off... you're wrong. They haven't been doing that throughout the game, they did it with Sinister and Minions. Through Whirlwind, you could still field a Storm Golem, Magus, or other early unique and still have a chance at winning. With the release of the Striker and Bakus and AD and other uber bound in those two sets, Wizkids completely destroyed that. Even Uprising wasn't an increase in powercreep, with the exception of the shield golem which really only sees limited play. So they really weren't doing it until the Solos were introduced and the Striker changed everything.
The game can survive by adding new combinations of SAs... making unique and interesting different figures playable, and tossing in a lot of good nons. This game isn't all about the uniques. As long as Wizkids makes quality figures to fit a certain niche which they haven't capitalized on before, sales will do just fine. I agree Orc Mage, as long as they're producing good stuff, I don't really care either. Given an infinite amount of time, sure, old uniques would become unplayable, but that's only because we find certain strategies and innovations that make them so. And I stick by my belief that we're not going to see a huge string of releases of old uniques into newer uniques. Remember guys, the reason 1.0 and 2.0 factions can't move together is because of the timeline... so by the same assumption, the old uniques have either died in battle (or however) or evolved into the new factions... those we'll see made into new uniques - but I don't see that number being very large.
Really, that's quite interesting.
Personally, I'd say that the Charge and Bound showing up in numbers during Lancers as well as the likes of the Arcane, following up with the more powerful Uniques (Orc Captain, HTB etc) in Whirlwind along with some interesting LE's from those sets steadily becoming the staple figs for tournament play was powercreep.
Then we get into Sinister and Minions with the Solanavi and increased LI useage, not to mention some interesting Dracs popping up. Uprising Is a bit of an exception isn't it ... oops no, what about Anendu. I don't even want to start on the LE's and outside stuff (Dungeons and Heroic packs) in this timeline.
I have no problem with you disagreeing, nor doo I care about powercreep, it wasn't a complaint more a statement on the inevitability of it.
Most importantly just remember :
Opinions are like a##holes. We've all got one, they all stink :D
When is the last time you saw a bounder from Lancers being used? Really... I didn't even see them used when they came out. Sure, the KI cavalry from Lancers are still used today, but really, besides ***Fells, that's the ONLY thing useful from Lancers. When is the last time you saw a unique from Lancers being used? The Arcane was made so goofy little kids could pull one and be like "OMG... this thing is insane!!" when in fact, it's pretty much garbage. Calling the Orc Captain and HTB a 'more powerful unique' is stretching it a bit, isn't it? Calling them 'grossly expensive, completely useless uniques' is really a bit more of an accurate description.
Yes, LEs did make a mess of things, but really, except on a National level or at an extremely competitive venue, when are you going to see someone bust out a Mooch or Elroodon? I know I'm probably one of the few people in my entire state with either of those LEs. Again, I know it's different elsewhere, but the LEs really didn't have a huge impact on most areas.
Which Dracs would you be referring to in Sinister and Minions? Besides the Amazon... There wasn't even a Drac in Sinister and really I only see the Vampiric and Amazon being used from Minions. I've already mentioned those and as I said, this is where Wizkids really started to mess things up.
Uprising is an exception. One touney-calibre figure out of an entire set certainly doesn't contribute to the 'powercreep' in MK. Anendu is not the farthest bounding magic blaster and frankly, I don't consider Anendu much of a problem at all. Sure, Corphy coming out in the Heroic Packs was a HUGE mistake, but that was somewhere between Sinister and Minions, if I remember correctly, after Wizkids was already messing things up.
Well the thing is, I'm not sure I believe that powercreep is a necessary thing. Yes, we've gotten used to it, but is it really necessary? I find it hard to believe that Wizkids can't come up with new figures that are fun and exciting to play (not to mention competitive) while also keeping our older uniques viable. *shrug* We'll see what road Wizkids takes in 2.0.

LMAO... I'm going to have to use that in one of my college debate classes... it should get a good laugh. ;)
I as a follower of the storyline am happy to see Annub back
I hope they redo all the original LE characters
But for example Snow should have Leadership or command
as he is the leader in the comic
maybe make them dual faction heros to explain how they could work together
Anunub 1.0 and Anunub 2.0. Hmmmmm! I see an alternate time line story where Anunub must travel to the past to save his future. Along the way he encounters the Borg. They are a new faction with the ability to form formations with all factions since they assimilate all they see.
question- since when is this 15 years into the future? where did wizkids say this? 15 years would make no sense at all.
but back on topic of new uniques in 2.0, I'd really like to see some things like Keraii and Digger Khep (hopefully a full fledged necromancer, I mean nub went from demi-to full magus, why not Khep?) and people like Doomathiak and Ravarshi would be fun to have ;)
Shyft/mage spawn, Solonavi, and the draconum can make combined 1.0 and 2.0 formations as they dont change faction, i mean honestly would anyone really want 2 Mondravalis in the same formation?

Its 15 years since Snow killed Karrudan rather then 15 years since the last expansion.
I would expect to see Snow in this expansion, leading the Bloody Thorns (the remark of the actual Bloody Thorn character will not come for atleast another set due to the original LE being redistributed the month before).
Remember all 2.0 uniques have thier own names now (which means instead of "Arcane Draconum" there could be Arcane Agron and Arcane Dromar, both of which are Arcane Draconums but do diffrent things)
Duncan was okay, but the Duchess could really use a reissue. Just she is too knew and the Dwarf wasn't a high comodity. Interestingly, both Anunub and Duncan aren't all that huge players in the MK world (we only hear a few tid-bits about Nub and Duncan has been mentioned once since the 1st campaign). Hmmm...
As far as the legality of Le vs unique Nub... consult WK's omnipotent dartboard
For me I dont mind having a new Anunub. I like to see new improved figures that match the storyline.
I wouldnt mind finding new versions of snow, byrch, rowan and the like with BPR and Northlander subfaction symbols after all they work for Blackwyn now right? :D
As for using figs with the same name in your army I am against that. As far as I know the rule states you can put into play one (1) unique of the same name in your army. So I guess you play with either your old LE Aunub or new Unique Anunub.
Hey afterall your LE Anunub will always be an LE Anunub. I would still consider it as a collectible. :D
