Everyone is focusing on how funny it was (which it truly was hysterical) but take a step and see how much truth actually is in this parody.
While admittedly most of the 'translations' were extreme, they usually hinted at what really was being said behind their mask of propoganda.
The gist of that chat was, "We don't care about how angry we are making people who have spent thousands of dollars on our *game* we're going to keep telling you the same story until you believe it".
I am so reminded of the Saddam parody done in South Park. Can you just hear that voice doing that chat, "Hey, relax, no problems buddy"
And to reiterate, yeah there are some just flat out angry people lashing out... but for every one of them there is a score of us who are simply tired of the lies but really want to play this game we love. It's frustration that is creating the negative vibe. Frustration that has built with every bad decision. We can see something we enjoy dying. An era ending.
We don't hate Wizkids or Mage Knight... we are mourning what we perceive as the final deathblow to something we will truly miss. It's natural to get emotional.
This is the most worthless piece of tripe written in the name of the anti-rotation movement. Any respect I had for the opinions of the anti-rotation movement's members is gone now. If this is what WK has been getting, no wonder they've stepped away from listening to the customers directly.

With *all* due respect, that's a pretty small loss.

Exactly how is it worthless? Sure the translation is a tad extreme, but it basically hits the nail dead on. WK doesn't care what it's doing to the fanbase, the same fanbase that got them to where they are today. That transcript is nowhere near worthless.
I think that the hopefull in you wants it to be worthless 'Lighter, just so it makes your cause easier and makes it look a tad more nobler in your eyes.
Just remember should MK come tumbling to the ground, i think i might be playing that fiddle, the way johnny did in "devil comes down to Georgia" the whole time, nero would be too sad, gotta have a little joy when a company slashes it's own throat. ;)

For heavens sake, will you guys get a life !!!!
This was funny, it was meant to be a Parody, you know, humour.
We all need a little light relief and this was just that.
I can tell you truthfully that every business has to make money to stay alive. I even said this statement several times a show when I worked for WizKids:
'WizKids wants to make games for all people to play and all ages, and yes we are business so we have to make some money to survive.'
I believe that only the last half of the statement is true any more. Of course I do not work for WizKids anymore. (We parted on extremely friendly terms. I was extremely frustrated over it and sometimes mad but our parting was the best for both WK and me. At least I can honestly it was the best for me using 20/20 hindsight.;)
I wish them the best, and hope that they do well. But many times now I just shake my head when I hear what they are doing.
Then I go back to work on the games and projects for the company that I work for now.
Will the truth set you free? Yes
AND it will also frustrate the hell out of you. (Insert your own word for frustrate if you want.;)
Dagonet-"With *all* due respect, that's a pretty small loss"
are you not doing exactly what your whining that WK is doing, ie:not listening to you? I am sure thats how MK thinks about you.
Mustang-"I BELIVE that it is (and always will be) about making money"
When is it ever not about making money? If you beleive that WK is here to cater to you then I feel sorry for you.
When MK first started with the approved play and giving out LEs for winning tourneys I thought "great, thanks for the Free gift". and I still think that way now but I also thought that this could turn on them because people will ultimiatly start expecting WK to feed them LEs and scream like a spoiled child when anything interferes with it. Any of you who think that WK owes you LEs are very high on yourselfs. Thats what this is mostly about, not that you cant play some of 1.0 in 2.0 because I really doublt that most of you complaining about it actually use or plan on using your 1.0 in 2.0. but your upset because your 1.0 LEs are preceived by you to be not worth as much (although I have not seen any price decline on Ebay) or that you just paid big bucks ot get them.
Tripe? naw That post took some time and effort and I applaud you for using your skills to make it...but I still look at it as the rantings of a spoiled child
Zazzin - the number of people who bought LE or sold them over EBay is a small fraction of the people complaining. An obvious attempt to paint the the anti-rotation side as spoiled children - you might believe it but to the majority people your arguement just doesn't make sense.
The 2000 nons I paid good money for (about $3000) are far more important to me than the 10 LEs I won at events(worth less than $40).
It's the buckets of nons that will never see play in an LE supported event than have people up in arms.
Yah, I posted it on all the Major Wizkids forums. Been getting a lot of response. And guys, it's a JOKE. Kinda like the stuff they have on Comedy Central, you know?
WK is in this to make money. They have families to feed, bills to pay, just like all of us. But they have to keep the customers happy or they'll loose them. I don't begrudge them trying to make a buck, but I do disagree on the methods they're using to part me from my money. This change, and a lot of the changes in the past few months has not increased the MK customer base, it's erroded it. You can't blame the customers for not buying the product. The blame lies with the company for not giving us a product worth supporting.
The tournaments and LE's were nothing more than a publicuity stunt, if you will. A way to increase intrest in the game. "Check out this game, you can win cool prizes." it later became a way to play the game, a time and a place where you were guarenteed to find others to play with who like the game as much as you do. But many feel this decision will destroy what is left of that.
Thats what this is mostly about, not that you cant play some of 1.0 in 2.0 because I really doublt that most of you complaining about it actually use or plan on using your 1.0 in 2.0.
What leads you to this opinion, because I have an entirely different experience? Isn't the whole point of many posts, that players would like to use old, bought pieces? I mean, we wouldn't have a problem without this problem.
B.t.w., why is everyone using the term "complaining"? It does have a negative sound. I think, "criticising" would be much more appropiate
Yeah... and the reason WK is going to this rotation is exactly because old players weren't buying enough 2.0. I mean, I'm guilty of it as much as anyone. I had a ton of 1.0 so I didn't buy much 2.0 (just a starter, a few boosters, and some singles). But if older players aren't buying new stuff, then does WK still have a responsiblity to them? No, they have a responsiblity to their customers, and you aren't a customer if you aren't buying.

And why, I wonder, weren't veteran players buying enough 2.0?
