And it looks like only the Solonavi and Draconum get to play Form Construct. Which is ironic, because the early favorite for a Form Construct was the Possessed Draconum.
Awww, no supra powerful subfaction for Atlantis:confused: Guess we'll just have to wait for next set.
I too toss in my hat for Raydan. Its not Podo, because he's not a merc. Its not Wraith, or any other regular magespawn, because it said that they were not regular magespawn.
EF subfaction review:
"Elemental Freeholds – Storm Druids:
The Storm Druids are as unpredictable as their namesakes and their sub-factional ability reflects this as well. Nature's Fury requires that the Storm Druid member roll one six sided die with making a close or ranged combat action. If the result is LESS then the unmodified damage value of the warrior, add its attack bonus (ASSUMING IT HAS ONE) to the attack. Yes, this means that you can possibly add the attack bonus twice!"
First concern: Does Rule of Three apply? If so, an attack bonus is 1, you'd add an additional 1, attack bonus is 2, again only add a 1, and at best only 50% of the time?! Attack bonus 3, sorry no second bonus for thee!
Only if the unmodified damage value is 4 (rare on a EF wand-user) is there a 50% chance of adding a second attack bonus. unmodified 5 damage value hasn't been seen yet, and 6 would be ludicrous. It is likely that this would be used at the 2 or 3 damage level that would give approx 16.6%or 33% (respectively) chance on adding the second bonus. I tend to think this is the second least valuable ability with the Orcs getting the weakest ability.
Looks like the DC got the best, then AE, then Apocalypse, then BPR (pending on EL and Dracs). Guaranteed abilities (ie no dice roll to check or add the bonus) are much more predictable and thus dependable for tactical planning...
Sorry for the negative spin, I just hate to see the DC triumph over my tree-huggers!! :D
Am I the only one who thinks that the AE ability is absolutely useless 90% of the time! For being the creating group of the most powerful magic (technomancy) you think they would have something that they would get a bit more use out of.
On another note, the elemental thing, the bonus is not subject to the Ro3 because it is an attack bonus, so technically it should be considered a printed number.

No. the Attack Bonus is not a modifier, and therfore not subject to the rule of three, (otherwise how could some of the Riders receive a +4 Rider bonus?)
Page 21 of the Complete Rules of Play under Attack Bonus: "An Attack Bonus Is Not A Modifier"
this mean you can use it when doing healing, with the Book of Lightning, and it stacks with any attack modifiers you get from game mechanics or relics and items.
I'm not very keen on Dracs using faction-specific spells, even if they have an affinity cost. If spells only had an affinity cost I would understand but even faction-specific ones. Storywise and gamewise, it does not make any sense to give them this.
I think Raydan is one of the four "ultra rare" mercs, just because he has a habit of being elusive...(in story and figure).
Remember waaaaaayyyyy back to the days of lancers when WK wrote flavor texts for the figs on the MK site? well the Liches
focuses on a character called Anjou the lich king, and im thinkin he's gonna be the unique magespawn. Wraith wouldn't make a whole lot of sense because theyre not magical :p . Elementary my dear watson.
At this point, it seems that the Draconum received the best subfaction ability and BPR second. The Atlantis ability may be decent depending upon the stats of the figures.
Dark Crusaders – Blood Cultists:
...allows a friendly figure in base contact with a Blood Cultists member to take a click of damage, and remove a token from the Blood Cultist.
Now we find the best way to get Tazia on her bound clic witout wasting action and spending time explaining your mve to your friend!
