Only a litte thing about Pure Faction players...., like me...
If you put Raydan Marz and enough Delphana Master miniatures, you can play the card for free... making it a compańy of pure faction pieces... and with the aditional abilities granted in the card...
With this card, it looks like I'll be playing my 5 or 10 *Prieskan Warriors (125-250 pts) with double, extra auto healing! What a pain that could be. Token sitting anyone?
I hope there's a Shyft adventuring company, that includes the MATRIARCH :P.
looking over on the omens section of the WK catalog something jumps out at me,
NEW WEREWOLVES!!!
by the power of the Dragon Gods, the Heirermen Gods, Tezla, and every other Mage Knight deity in existance, PLEASE let them be as good as the old ones!!!
You know, having Harkas on the card might mean that Harkas will not be retired anytime soon, at least not until the Adventuring Company card is retired. Then again, who knows.
Faction purity is a strange contradiction in MK. I play Atlantis figures almost exclusively. I belong to WK's Atlantean faction forum. You can buy faction oriented merchandise like shirts and mouse pads. Each faction has its own war cry. Yet while there are some benefits for pure faction play like Crown of Khamsin and the location domains, pure faction play is only rewarded with the formation rules. We all know how much things like formation fire are used.
The sneak preview was a big dissapointment to me. Actually the more I think about it, the more disappointed I feel. Rewarding a player for using the strongest army arch-type... And that makes the game better how? I can't help but feel like WK is trying to dismiss the idea of faction pure armies altogether. I mean 5 harkas cost you just over 100pts. And you get 5 decent harrassers for that. Now, on top of that, you also get to potentially heal every member of your army when 1 of your harrassers are eliminated.
Originally posted by JonnyRockets Did anyone notice the AC says to roll a die for each figure you choose and then it gets healed? I guess I would always choose all my figures all the time.
There are times you don't WANT to heal a figure. IE, let's say that Oracle Daheia was in your army (like I said, just an example here) - if she's at her first Bound click, you might not want to heal her, so that she can KEEP Bound! :) That's my guess on why you get to CHOOSE, instead of HAVE to roll.
I see this as a potential method for getting certain underused figures back into play. I think it's an interesting concept, but I see it being abused. It would be fun to see some *slightly* sub par units being fielded to meet a requirement on the cards, but what I imagine happening is people fielding the best unit the cards allow to eliminate the cost, then cheese out the rest of the army.
*shrugs* I dunno... this is probably gonna fall into the realm of "Good idea, poor implementation."
1st - FORMATIONS!!!! no longer are those can Atlantean empire group move with Atlantis Guild, Necropolis move with Dark crusaders questions be too much of an issue... MK 1.O and MK 2.O finally solved....
heck it even takes care of Magespawn formations... shyft may no longer be that integral... but man.. the shyft had gotten a lot stronger (not to mention cooler by the way)...
2nd - Faction pure and mixed armies get a boost. Thats practically every army out there.
If you wanna go more toward faction pure, just use 5 of your faction's figures listed. Then add uniques/other nons to fill. You still get the bonus abilities and the thrill of sticking pure with your favorite faction.
5 Harkas, plus Rava, plus...
1 Delphana, 4 Prieskan Warriors, plus 4 Golem Familiars, plus Technomantic overload...
Etc.
I don't see this as something that is for or against faction pure armies.
The thing that jumps out to me is that with these cards we are being led back toward more of a melee army build.
In order to gain the maximum benefit of the AC card, i.e. reduce the value to 0, you need to field more figures (cohorts). This leaves less room in an army for that "big fattie" tricked out with relics/items and 1 or 2 support figures.
That may not be such a bad thing. In my opinion, it's really going to depend on what other abilities are granted by the cards AND how those abilities will interact with existing ones.
From this "sneak peak" I already have questions. Suppose I use one of the cohorts as a call familiar. When that figure is "eliminated" (and returned to the battlefield) do I still get to heal? I sure hope sigma is ready for this stuff! ;)
