:noid:
if that was pointed at me i hope you remember that :( cus unless people just prefer playing avengers turn 5 kills will be common.
I think that the correct Morlocks build can reliably win on turn 6 with Scaleface, thanks to great defensive cards such as Backs Against The Wall, Good Samaritan and Shrapnel Blast.
Although every other deck seems to want odds, so me taking evens isn't anything to worry about I guess. Woo.
Spidey wants evens... and so does Marvel Knights depending on the build. And both will be contenders now that the origins cards are gone. What those removed form the format also opens up a lot of viable counter strategies previously ignored.
There are also 2 or 3 cards in this format that will show up and swing games pretty big, and it is all about preventing breakthrough in creative ways. Thats my prediction at least.

What are you talking about, this topic is about Marvel Modern in Atlanta, NOT Silver Age.
Wow... guess it helps to remember what the hell I actually read.
that being said... an X-Men energy build can have enough stall and reinfircement to not really care which init it has. And as already stated, the HFC can go either way.
Maybe we will see a mental build that pushes for later turns and doesn't play too initiative dependant.
While Smash Face Big Guys certainly.. smashes face with big guys, I think there are plenty of viable decks in Modern that can make it to 6 or even 7.
Take the Hellfire Club. Sure, they have one visible character. But he's huge. And if you take him out, they can either Absolute power him back on his feet so you have to get through him again, or tag in someone else with Deadly Game.
Speaking of Hellfire Club, they want evens. So they can swing on 6 with Donald Pierce and then Power Play to swing twice with Shaw on 7.
Morlocks can tank it to turn 6 or 7 with the power of Backs Against the Wall and Good Samaritan. You blow all your attack pumps on your so-called kill turn and your attacker gets removed from his so-called kill attack. They even think their safe because you only have 1 non-stunned character, you can't possibly Backs Against the Wall. That is until you Good Samaritan someone to their feet and do it anyway.
However, I do concede that Smash Face Big Guys is the dominate strategy of the format.
I will also state that people who play it should look into craftier options. I am thoroughly sick of these extreme decks (and yes, I am branching off-topic into non Modern). You either stall until your kill turn, or smash face with big guys. Can't people just play a game of Vs that involves dropping a character on the curve and duking it out anymore?
Also, please note that I am a casual player and have only ever competed in one (!) constructed tournament.
