Namor and the Human Torch (the android) - were the first two released by Timely Comics in the title "Marvel Comics". They are "Marvel's" first two characters.
Namor has never been "evil",just a selfish ego-maniacal monarch that wanted Invisible girl by any means nessesary.
My assesment that Namor is "Marvels first mutant" was actually a Marvel made slogan from his late 80s-early 90s series.Apoc IS older, but if the Austen crap holds out Angel has the dormant genes of a group of mutants that all had wings and could heal people and Nightcrawler's father is an ageless mutant that looks like a demon and the two groups battled over 10,000 years ago.Their battle was "mistakingly" chronicled as angels and demons fighting,Nightcrawler's father being Lucifer:ermm:

You are correct, He was/is referred to as "Marvels first mutant" because his comic book was first.
However inside the comic universe, he is not the "oldest/first" mutant.
I think this is where all the confusion is starting.

Franklin should be energy. His psionic powers are merely an offshoot of his larger power to rewrite reality. He did recreate all of Marvel's heroes after the Onslaught debacle.

The Azazel origin is crap.
You're telling me that Mystique and a Demon are where Nightcrawler came from?
I believe that Claremont originally intended for Mystique and Destiny to be the parents. (Mystique is a shapeshifter, you know.)

You are correct on both counts.Specific religion is something that should be left out of comics IMO.The Azazel story was Austen's way of spitting on the old testament.
Claremont's intent was to make it that Mystique could not only change shape, but chromazomes and actually be a man. It's no secret she and Destiny were lovers,Mystique just gave Destiny the best of both worlds.I'm kinda glad they abandoned that idea as well.
Originally posted by Batshido If that's an Earth-X continuity reference, be careful. Some of the misguided comic purists in here will tear you a new one.
You're the one who is misguided if you believe Earth X is continuity. ;)
And I don't believe I'm a purist. Just knowledgable about continuity.
So this has been resolved, right? Namor is not a mutant.

Actually I think Marvel has "defined" a mutant as a human that has a mutated x-gene, thus becoming homo-superior. Namor does not have this mutated gene, therefore he is not a mutant. His card correctly documents this.
