ok, a good deck for me is any deck I enjoy playing. I rarely netdeck (not that there is anything wrong with it), except to build decks to test against.
If I enjoy playing a deck and it has OK game, not necessarily winning records against the tier 1 and 1.5 decks then I'll play it, then tweak it, then play, then tweak.
At the moment my flavour of the month is AI/Doom which has been faring quite well on MWS since its most recent tweak. Its a blast, turn 4 flip JLofArkham, Fetch one with boris, lay it, flip 1st one back with Doom, replay. No Drop for opponent, combine this with Reign of Terror, Kidnappings and you get the picture....As I said, Its a blast.
Not always consistent, but it does eat chicken supreme
Previous favourites have included SpiderKnights (kindof Netdecked), Mutant Nation, Straight Sinister Syndicate and Straight Arkham (yeah they sucked, but they were fun)
Too many folks forget that this game is supposed to be a game. Yeah I appreciate that some make a living from it but heh, I'm just a scrub.
And now, his other personality from another thread:

That's too long for a tattoo, but I love it just the same. Let me take the master's thoughts even further. If you truly believe that crashing and burning is the best thing that ever happened to you, then you will have the experience of playing a "good" deck and having the best time of your life. Then, at the next tournament, you can have the thrill of achieving a new personal best all over again. I do, it's great.
In a nutshell, the good decks are the ones with the good cards. Someone from MtG coined this, Lauer or Flores I believe. Sounds sarcastic, but plenty of people throw in awful cards to support whatever idea they've got their heart set on making work.

I disagree with this. I think you can NOT throw away the notion of synergy in favor of "better cards". After all, you can look at almost any deck that's won a recent 10k, and I bet you can find at least one card in the deck at one of the drops that there is a "better card" as an alternative at the same drop that just so happens to not fit in with the theme at all.
Now, I don't think you should play cards that have good synergy with your deck when they STILL don't do anything. If you're running ally, that doesn't mean you need to run the crappy ally powers, too. You shouldn't put in every character with willpower 2 or greater because you have Book of Oa. But, in the same light, you shouldn't put Birthing Chamber (a good card) in a deck that never has 4 or more characters on the board.

A great deal of top level players said that System Failure was an awful card, then Aaron Weil went undefeated ten rounds in a PC with it. This game forgives the addition of a few heart-set ideas, much more than Magic.
