I'm feeling good about this one. Ledger says Joker will be darker and more sinister and Nolan has said he's ignoring the past live-action incarnations (thank god) and basing it off of the comics version (more specifically, the early comics when Joker was created and The Killing Joke). And I'm sure Goyer has some plans for Joker. So I'm not too worried.
Hearing that, I'm very happy about the future of the Joker on the big screen. Nicholson? Terrible choice. Just because it was the best superhero film to date when it was released doesn't mean the first Batman stands the test of time. Jack played Jack and while Jack is closer to the Joker than a lot of people, Jack is Jack and not Joker. Where as perhaps a less known actor might have done a much better job actually playing the JOKER, instead of trying to be themselves.
Seeing as Singer dropped the ball on Superman so badly, let's see if Nolan can give Raimi a run for his money as "The Best" in directing super hero flicks. Not to mention the fight for best Super Hero Franchise between Batman and Spider-Man. Hehe.
I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight a lot, although I'll admit, even though I like Batman a lot more, I'm looking forward to the sequel to Superman Returns (assuming there is one) because I actually enjoyed Superman Returns more than Batman Begins.
But that's just me. I really like the casting of Ledger as The Joker though! I actually brought it up a long time ago when I saw 10 Things I Hate About You, as there is a scene where he has a toothpick in his mouth and does this wide, Joker-style grin.
