The "reasons" for this "testing of the mods/filters/other people's sensabilities" are not the issue. It is the behavior itself that matters. You guys were behaving badly. There is NO excuse for it. There is NO reason it should have ever happened in an open community. Your behavior was that of first graders seeing what they could get away with when the teacher had his back turned to the class. Pathetic.

No, I didn't get to read the exact comments, but I was online at the time and very easily could have...as a member of the forums or as a lurker. The "intent" of the comments, whether "tongue-in-cheek" or not is not the issue.

Ban the offenders and ban this thread.

He doesn't need to get banned for one stupid post. That'd be lame. He got warning points. The thread got nuked. That's all that needs to be done.

i think banning me would have caused an uproar and i'd have ended up a martyr. the Mods did what was appropriate, i didn't think i'd get away without some form of retribution. the desired outcome was achieved.

No offense dude, but your actions were inexcusable for a public forum. I know that Mike seems to be saying that banning you would open a floodgate of bannings for off-colored posts, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. This wasn't a one-post issue. The language started before that particular post and continued through it.

Trust me, banning you would not create a backlash here on the Realms, much less make you a "martyr". Martyrs have causes. You sir, are woefully short on that front. Your comment speaks for itself. You didn't think you'd get away with it without some form of retribution. You consciously committed the act knowing their would be consequences involved. That in of itself shows how much you actually care about this community. Zero, zip, zilch. That should be reason enough to put you out of the community by banning.

You're right; clearly, fascists care more about the community than those that prefer civil disobedience.

I was the one of the few who saw and started this ball of criticisms,but when you go to a forum and the title is 3 words and 2 of them are the most racist words there are towards Black people and Mexicans, that is wrong. But then you read the post and it ends in a racial joke,then that is twice as bad.I read the postings on other thread with preluded this and yes it was to test the filters but it also was done as a joke for them not a martar thing. In my opinion the banning is more than fitting and hopefully this will be the the final shot over the bow.

Well it is almost Midnight somewhere. I suggest to the moderators that this thread be removed and we go with realms as we should and put this behind us. It is over and been resolved so please close and remove this thread.
