L5R's playbase has shrunk extremely from where it used to be, and also remember that L5R has no license fee to pay out as AEG owns the property. That's a big difference.

Its funny but every time someone makes a complaint or suggestion, there are 10 or so post saying "No thats not true" "No thats not true" and I think the plain simple matter is YES the problems are true and there is no fixing going on. Just like in life we have elections and you can write your congressmen but the laws of the land don't really change. Thing with Versus is we have these forums and we don't change the rules or make our own. Doesn't seem like UDE is interested in doing much to fix problems. I havent heard many drastic changes from them. Like a players union. VSRealms should be. I mean I just laugh sometimes and think about cards and see how there should be like a 75 cards to 100 cards just banned and restricted. Cause its funny when the game is just supposed to "play" a certain way thats it. But it just doesnt. And people complain and nothing changes and the game doesnt get hot. Whatever...

but i agree, i have been doing everthing i possibly can to get kids to play this game, and it really doesnt help when kids expect prize and i never get prize kits. so i have to keep giving out the remains of the, defend yourself, and i still hate magics that i still have as prize.

having crap prize really sucks, since alot of the kids are college aged and could be workign on school work instead if their is no motivation to play.

Yeah, UDE needs to hire someone to fix this mess I guess.

I don't expect the VS portion of the site to fold, and if I had ever bought cards there, I might have been disappointed upon hearing about the lack of singles.

I LOVED starcityvs! It said I was player of the year last year (which I deserved) and that I would be player of the year THIS year too! (which I deserved as well).

I love it when people finally realize who is the best and put it on paper.

I agree with you completely. Now I've been doing some detective work in my hometown, and I think that one of the major reasons HOG hasn't been selling very well in here is because it hasn't been released yet and is not for sale anywhere.

'Big' personalities with charisma seems to the emphasis of Metagame. VS Realms is certainly willing to support anyone willing to write regularly, regardless of fame or intellect. I mean, they keep me on, so the standards can't be too high. lol I think the biggest problem for the active pro players is that there's a definate impetus to keep the best info secret, so that an advantage can be gained at tournaments. Personally, if someone had the balls to share and teach that higher-level strategy and tactics without holding back out of fear of diminishing returns at tournaments, I'm sure that person would become quite popular very fast. A "People's Champ" is something the game could really use as a sort of rallying point. We need our JFK... our Barack Obama... someone with the talent to play and the voice to build up the hopes that anyone can make it practice and a little luck.

I agree. The game needs a spokesman that can promote the game to a national degree. I watch 'Gamehead' just to keep up to date on games. I dont play like I used to but recently I've started to play games because VS is lacking.

I'm pretty sure Vidi wrapped up player of the year for this year a while ago.

UDE has been on a bit of a hiring bindge since June, but most of the posts are still up, so I assume they haven't filled to many of the positions. Several of them have to do with the hobby league and demo/judge stuff.

they've also sent out several messages since October to the distributers and direct purchase(hobby league stores essentially) about the new direction that they are going with delivery of the hobby league stuff that will hopefully vastly improve thier ability to get stuff out on time.

I don't think its fair to say that UDE has decreased their support of the game. I think it is fair to say that UDE is in a transition period for a lot of the OP areas, as they get new people and redifine the postions of some of the old timers. I believe that many of the staff was stretched obscenly thin, which resulted in a lot of the problems we saw with hobby league.

I don't think its fair to ask UDE to "put their money where their mouth is". To my knowledge I don't believe that anyone has ever supported a game as much as UDE has with VS. Certainly mistakes were made and the hobby league delivery fiasco is rediculous, but as I've said its not like they're sitting on their thumbs over in Carlsbad.

I don't think its fair to say the game is dying based on low turnouts at local events. DC releases have always had lower turnouts then Marvel ones. I'll be happy to change my tune should we only get twenty or so for Marvel Team-Up but I think we'll be back in our usually average. Also, this game has never really had a strong casual appeal. UDE can't really do anything locally, that's our responsibility

I also have never been to Star City VS for anything but to look at previews. This site and metagame is all I've ever seen, so I'm totally unconcerned by their sell off. Also I've never bought singles over the internet cause I believe in supporting my local stores and trading.

Meh being amazing at VS is like hoarding silver rather than Gold, from what I can tell most 'pro' VS players where people who couldn't quite 'make it' in magic. However there have been a few spirts where people who played VS well suddenly started doing well in Magic. Go ahead an prove me wrong, otherwise do we really need the ego (i think vidi has it in the bag anyway) hurting this game?
