I hate hippies as much as anyone. I don't even like Aquarian.
Um, who does like Aquarian? Isn't he that fruity bearded dude with the flared sleeves? Must...consult...The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe...
If he needs to be banned for the way he posts you deserve it twice as much. When Stu doesn't have a point it's obvious and he's usually trying to entertain people. Is he entertaining? Not always, but if intent counts he gets credit for that.
You on the other hand have some of the worst arguements and totally pointless posts this side of ThugMotivation and other trolls. Not that you don't come off as a troll on occasion yourself, what with the "I quit" crap from, what? Over a year ago? And that you seem to remind people of every other post I see you make? Maybe that colors your ####ing opinion a little bit. Or maybe that's just how I see it.
UDE and VS aren't perfect. In fact UDE Europe is a rotton shame, the delays of release dates in various places sucks and some of the playtesting errors are pretty grevious in hindsight (always 20/20), but as Bendrix brought up, constructive criticism is the only reason to open your mouth if you want to ##### and not sound like a useless, mindless, shilling troll.
Well, this goes to show what comes of listening to people on the internet. :ermm:
Ok, I'd like to address the quote above.
I've recently received an angry PM or two from one or two people (people who I respect, by the way) who are upset about the above statement and the creation of this thread, so I just want to clarify a few things.
I AM IN NO WAY PUTTING THE BLAME FOR THE EXISTENCE OF ANY PARTICULAR RUMOR ON ANYONE'S SHOULDERS.
THE STATEMENT WAS MERELY COMMENTARY THAT INTERNET RUMORS ARE NOT THE MOST VALID SOURCE OF INFORMATION.
I AM NOT ACCUSING ANYONE OF CREATING ANY RUMOR ON PURPOSE. I HAVE NO EVIDENCE TO BELIEVE THAT ANYONE ON THE FORUMS HAS DONE ANYTHING RATHER THAN PASS ON THE INFORMATION THAT THEY THEMSELVES RECEIVED.
THIS THREAD'S INTENT WAS NOT TO "BASH" OR "FLAME" ANY INDIVIDUALS, BUT SIMPLY TO INFORM FORUM GOERS THAT THE RUMOR WAS, INDEED, FALSE.
I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR ANYONE WHO HAS TAKEN ANY STATEMENT I'VE MADE HERE AS A PERSONAL ATTACK OR ACCUSATION OF ANY KIND, AND WILL GIVE PERSONAL APOLOGIES TO ANYONE WHO PMs ME SAYING THAT THEY WERE OFFENDED BY THE ABOVE STATEMENT.
I'd just like to state, for the record, that
1) I'm pleased CoolStuffInc's continuing to support the game. I've dealt with a number of online stores for VS cards, and CSI has _never_ disappointed me. Not with shipping, not with pricing, not with customer service.
2) I like Stu and don't feel he deserves the crud that some people seem to like heaping on him. Do I share his opinions all the time? No. Do I enjoy every article he rights? No. Would I share an alcoholic beverage with him? Sure. He likes the game, and wears his heart on his sleeve in that respect. What gives anyone the right to put him down because of it? Unless you can show me evidence of how he came around to your place and peed in yoru cornflakes, hostility of the degree he endures from some people is entirely unwarranted.
Have some self respect, and some respect for other posters.
I don't know if someone has already pointed this out, but in the same thread that Access linked to, CCGammer has also said that they are not closing their store.
You know, I thought the sky was falling, then I realized it was just a pigeon. I guess I should stop reading what the pigeons write, but I stare at car accidents too. Whatever.
This is a great game. Is it perfect? No. Will it ever be perfect? No. If you want perfection, then try heaven. Otherwise give constructive criticism and teach someone new to play the game.
Stu loves the game and so do I. I helped to teach some players this weekend about activate. Can you believe he was blowing up resources to Roy Harper's effect without activating, to clear the board? It was so funny. He had been playing it that way for months. Teach someone.
On the topic of "corporate hitmen", The Federal Trade Commission has just said that if you receive compensation for word-of-mouth advertising (which bashing other companies' products counts as) you are legally obliged to identify yourself as having a relationship with the company you work for.
However, if you are a volunteer you do not have to identify yourself.
I don't know that anybody on the realms is hired language-goon, it all seems a bit silly to me. But according to this article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...rss_technology anyone participating in this kind of chicanery has to identify themselves.
The idea of corporate message board hitmen is ridiculous.
Our own RyanDG admitted that he used to get paid $30 for every bad review he posted of a competitor's product, in another industry. It is real, hence the FCC thing. I honestly don't think it happens much on these forums but you never can tell about these things. There may be one or two around here.

Guess what? UDE will make mistakes. It's a given. There will even be decisions you do not agree with that aren't necessarily mistakes. And, yes, there will come a time long after Stu's grandkids' grandkids' have passed on that Vs will no longer be published, no matter how amazingly awesome MTU and WF are. You are not special for pointing this out. You are not a seer for stating the obvious, however bluntly or wittily or cheerily you do it. Rather than slowly rot in your own bile trying to outsmart and condemn designers and developers and entire marketing teams who are actually paid to figure this stuff out, enjoy the game while you have it.
A healthy concern for the state of the game (see Profparm's recent thread) and mind-numbing cynicism (see anything thugmotivationwhatever posts) are two very, very different things. It would behoove both the forums and for everyone's personal sake to discern the difference. If Vs does collapse next week, and you called it with your 37 threads warning that the endtimes are nigh, what do you gain? You were right. If you spend that same week brainstorming ways to team up Legion and JLA or to exploit a fun interaction of mechanics, you had fun. And really, that's what I ask for from the game, because I'm not a pro; I can't speak to that level.
Everything ends. People #### up. The only chance we have for satisfaction from any endeavor is to enjoy what we have when we have it. And what I have, at least, is a fascinating game with limitless possibilities based on a bunch of imaginary friends from my childhood.
Massively great stuff. That post could be called "Birth of a Lesbian Unicorn." You said what I have always tried to say but better than I ever could.
I really don't believe he is getting paid to be a lackey (they'd demand better results... lol). He's seemed to volunteer for that, defending a game he loves.
It's the laughter that keeps me coming back for more, and that one busted my gut. Thank you sir.
Has anyone ever noticed that every description of a great laugh is a form of extreme pain?
For the record, I am not paid to promote the game on the message boards. Only for the articles. (Just in case the FTC is listening.)

You're welcome. I think... >_> *head scratch*

My funniest statements are usually either tremendously absurd or quite scathing, if that's to what you're refering. If you mean that laughter sounds like pain, when subjected to prolonged bouts of localized pain, I laugh hysterically until the pain overrides my endorphine rush and the laugh quickly transposes into a cry with almost no effort needed.
