Our City Champs for VS have not been set to a specific date yet. We are waiting for the kit before scheduling too much else, due to recent trends in late stock from UDE.
The event will happen, but when is uncertain at this time.
For $10.00 per player, each player needs to be guaranteed product for prizes. This might be harder on CC since they might not go through UDE direct for their cards, which adds a little more cost. It also might be affected by how much profit margin they want to hold on to. They might not be able to make up the gap in food and drink sales or singles sales like Eudemonia does.
That might make a win-a-box tournament harder on them than other places.
Ask them if they would be willing to ensure 1 booster pack per player, (which adds up to less than $3.00 entry fee), and that would leave the remaining $7.00 per player to go towards more valuable prizing. 8 players at $7.00 is $56.00 worth of prizes, right? That should offer a box to first place, and the shop should still make a little something. The profit margin is higher on snacks than card packs any way, and getting a lot of people in the store helps sell snacks. Outside food, and encouraging it hurts them, though.
Eudemonia has started to carry healthy snacks alternatives, and that has helped a lot. If CC will go for that format, I'll make it happen at Eudemonia too. Even if I have to use my own discount to get prizes to give out.
This would work if CC got there product for 56 a box. But the owners are new to store, Most people should know that a new store wont make profit in the first year, unless they're incredibly lucky. The previous owners were also much better at selling singles at all they're games. With that being said it is hard for them to just give out prizes that are not reasonable towrads them.
Well, that is a benefit to Eudemonia's events then. We can afford to give out better prize structures, and apparently charge less.
But I'm not prepared to give up on them yet. I think that they have a good chance to maintain this same momentum.
I just got confirmation to do almost anything I want to for tournaments, so long as I get at least 8 players, I can continue to offer really, really good prize pack ratios.
I won't run events on the same days as CC. I'm hoping to allow cross promotion of events with them. We briefly discussed it 2 weeks ago, but that was before I got full confirmation to do what it takes to get people here.
I'm going to wait till Eudemonia gets there kits so I can work out something with Curtis. I think we should all arrange different dates so we can all go to each CC.
I'm working the 31st, so I can't make that one. :(
But, I'm trying for the one in Hayward on the 24th, I think it said. I'm working then too, but they'll have to be done before I have to be at work, I think any way. Sacramento, though, I'd never get back from in time to make it to work.
I will beat quickfate... oh yes I will.. And if it doesn't show up I will beat checkmate... and if that doesn't show up I will cry because I've teched against both of those and will lose to everything else lol jk I'm bringing the mad beats that is as of yet not playtested.. Like always huh?
Had fun lots of cool people... its too bad most of my games where with people I play with all the time.. My only gripe is paying 10 bucks and the prize support was too top heavy. Otherwise I had fun and did resonably well except a few bad draws
