My gut instinct says that a faces deck that more proactively plays Marcus Daniels is going to be the "easy" call... mostly because it's just as easy as it always was to flood the board with guys, and in the battle of weenie decks Marcus reigns supreme. But there are stall options... El Guapo + Creeper is a pretty cool way to make it difficult for you to take damage; and if you can throw out 1 cosmic guy Adam Warlock is an uncommon that could "Game" opponents on his own (sadly, the anti-weenie 8s are rare).
I haven't looked at it to much but Future Foes looks possible. There are a few rares you would miss but most of their plot twists and characters are commons/uncommons. It also hurts Squad and AGL with them using most of their hand.
Edit: Computo <> Mr. Venge, Hidden File really screws AGL if timed right. After they use Chomin just activate him and recover their guy dealing them damage.
Judging by past trends, this event will not be available to me (city champs here would have been nice, but I realize that UDE doesn't care about non-US players). As such, let me clue you in on how things went down over here when we played this exact format as an alternate for hobby league:
* If you do not abuse Fate Artifacts, you will lose horribly.
* Playing Ahmed will significantly increase your odds of winning.
* Did I mention the Fate Artifacts?
So play Ahmed if you can, play Fartifacts if you want to have a chance, and play some cards to deal with both. I think that unless you live in an extremely casual environment, you will find that this format is significantly more restrictive in the deck types it allows than even GA itself.
Well... since Meltdown is back in the format... you can avoid losing horribly by running equipment hate.
And run KO effects... Ahmed can't search for an escape pod in this format so he has to rely on other things to keep himself from just being an alternate lose condition.
Erick means that you're still restricted to 4 copies of any given card unless it's an Army card. No restrictions on common/uncommon rarity have been released yet.

There are no restrictions on the uncommons other than the 4 copies of non-army character cards.
People were assuming that there may be a limit on the number of uncommons you can use but there is not.

You would think so, and you would be right. You must run Meltdown or some other equip hate, and you must run KO effects for Ahmed and Alan. With the addition of Alan, Checkmate not only offers the best consistency, it also offers the best offense and defense in the format. It's a better aggro deck than no-vought TNB, and a better control deck than no-reign Doom. It easily beats Darkseid, which I thought had a good chance against it (until I realized it has no tutor). How will you beat a deck that has a 6/6 3-drop, a 9/9 4-drop, Fate Artifacts and the means to get them, and the ability to toolbox while never ever missing their preferred drops? You don't even have access to Deadshot or a good way of getting rid of Threat Neutralized for the king kill.
Basically what you need for this tournament is a team with excellent aggro ability (defensive ability is a plus too), synergy with Fate Artifacts, space to include equip and concealed hate, and (probably the most important thing of all) an uncommon tutor.
I'm not claiming that there isn't some hidden gem in the card pool I missed, but all I'm saying is that to prepare for this tournament you better fill your gauntlet with a ton of Checkmate/X decks with Fate Artifacts and Threat Neutralized. And Meltdown. And a way to get into the concealed area. I suggest starting with Checkmate/LOA (both tutors are uncommon and you get access to Merlyn/Rook Control shenaniganz, plus Lazarus Pit).
alot of ahmed decks will run hellboy at 4 for his ability to spin ahmed back to safety. I see Villians and i-gang seeing alot of play
Villains loses Science Spire, and with it about 60% of its power. Its only appeal is a wealth of KO effects with which to KO kings.
I-Gang is just as bad as it always was, only it's a bit worse now because the format is filled with Fate Artifacts that allow players to dump their hand easily.
Kree is actually pretty good if you can find a way to stall to six consistently (no more Political Pressure or Check and Mate), as well as a way to offset the loss of Stargate/Science Spire.
