Actually, now that I think about it...I don't think there are any non-rare direct KO effect for 3 or less (non-stunned) in a Random Punks environment..Or is there? I'll have to invesigate.
Uh...dude, we're talking about Random Punks here. If you Avengers Mansion your Black Panther...trouble isn't far behind ^.^. Panther is a problem but otherwise, Hawkeye/Druid are still big, Dane is still Dane, although he's Overload bait. And, if Rick Jones is getting Overloaded, you shouldn't be freakin' pumping him anyway, ^.^.
The original poster didn't say just in Random Punks... but regardless... Heroes in Reserve is still legal in RP.
The point is Overload hurts any combat-oriented deck, which is what Avengervists are. It even hurts them more because they like to hit back while defending which sometimes means pumping up your defenders into Overload range.
And if "Panther is a problem"... isn't that pretty much the core of the deck?

I find it humorous that the complaint people have against Ahmed is that he brings consistency to the team playing him. Ummmm...so does Enemy. And Mobilize. Consistency is just one of those things that you want in a deck.
Ahmed is not broken. He is a damn good card, and the best part about him is he slows the game down. He makes the game about COMBAT again, instead of about which deck can kill on 2, or which deck can infinite on 4. You can hit Checkmate harder than they can hit you.
As to the argument that his own team has a way to negate his drawback - you are correct. They have a card they can't search for that prevents them from playing a better location, which they can't play from hand.
Ahmed provides you with an enormous drawback: an auto-lose effect. The only possible thing that may make him broken is the opposite: an auto-win effect. And, I'm sorry, but location search IS NOT that good.
Let's face it. Ahmed is good. Ahmed is probably the best 3-drop in the game. Ahmed does not even approach needing to be banned.
(and Yancy Street doesn't save him from Madelyne Pryor)
Dude, you don't NEGATE his drawback. You minimize it. You're still kill-filing your LINCHPIN. The decks built around Ahmed often break down and run out of gas if he's whisked away on turn 3 or 4 whether he auto-loses the game or not. It just means they still have a _chance_ to win after he gets KO/Bounce/Remove'd.
Yeah, it's definetely not auto-win. From so much testing of Ahmed, I'd say 2-3 activations and you're above the other deck's capabilities. Any more than that without losing, and you win the game.
I'm sure there is more than that not listed. Characters with 3 or less are easy to deal with if you tech a few cards. You just have to be careful and make sure it fits your decks theme.

We're in agreement that Overload SHOULD NOT come back. But, I'm just saying Overload, as a card, doesn't murder all combat-based decks. It weakens a few, sure, but it doesn't take them out of competitive play completely.
As far as Ahmed goes, he's not broken, especially after DGL gets the boot from Silver and Fifth Dimension goes away. Then there's no "I Can Save Ahmed without a team affiliation!" cards left, so, a team-up with something along the lines of Villains United or Kree will be necessary.
