First his name is Hyra! however Hydra is kinda of cute!
Secondly look at Kree? Divinity? Quicksilver? These are your major power houses? They are not well known & neither are they very iconic! They are so disturbingly powerful that it isn't enjoyable for most people to play or play against.
Hydra makes him sound more like the evil anti-VS villian he is :).
You're right... these cards are not icons (well, Quicksilver is, but still). BUT, that's more the fault of the teams. The proof is that he was willing to push the boundries. Yes, Quicksilver went "out of bounds", but Kree and Divinity provided PLAYABLE and good opportunities to play. Not broken, but nobody could deny their power. It's a shame he didn't design Batman or Spiderman... I'd greatly prefer to get to make decks around these guys.

You are also forgetting about other formats such as multiplayer which you may not have played much with.
The 2 decks that are viable against torch abuse decks are worlds finest & hellboy decks!
You cannot run effective rush decks aside quicksilver without running bat got ru tongue becuase human torch will stun all! The only other thing that can partially save you from this is brpd signal device! I don't think i need to say who helped design those!!!!
Even multiplayer would rather have more "cool" conceptual cards. You shouldn't feel like you're at some horrid disadvantage playing your favorite team. Yes, there are some oddballs who play Crimelords or X-statix just because they can; but most people want their favorite characters. Now, wouldn't it be better if those characters were some of the better characters in the game to begin with

6 drop Batman completly changed the meta game for Indy. All 3 batmans are are useful & worthy of play in certain instances. The only Bad match up the worlds finest decks had were quicksilver syndicate, 4 drop divinity & 4 drop silver sable which luckily few people played.
IN a screaming mad world of nova blast abuse decks that is so ridculously overpowered at least their is one designer that is making stuff that we can use to combat this crazy stuff that came out in hearlds.
6-drop Bats did nothing; the format was all-aggro characters, and would not have changed even if he didn't exist. I like 6-drop bats somewhat conceptually, but he proved too weak in practice

Now I will admit everyone has their flaws! I don't in anyway think Matt is the god of design but neither do I think that of Yip.
Do you guys really want more unplayable rares like Anti-Life Equation? Remember the greatness of DLS? HELL YEAH! Vote for Hydra!
The reinvention of cosmic to a powerful weapon, the institution of mechanics like press which were interesting, new, and meta-game changing... Yip is clearly the man you're wanting to design your new set.
A vote for Yip is a vote for a binder full of playables :).

Actually, it would just make the Captain America much more playable.
And, half the reason everything else is unplayable is because of the cards that are 'not broken but nobody could deny their power'. Considering formats like Modern and Silver ... while it is possible to skew some stuff 'too weak' ... the extremely strong cards tend to make the weaker cards THAT MUCH weaker.
Interesting concepts are ignored because ... why play that when you can play Ahmed/Quicksilver/etc. Considering that the idea is to make a sustainable game, having every set need to be "undeniably powerful" so as to make people want to play with the new set instead of just continuing to use their old undeniably powerful cards ... would lead in a bad direction. Especially because it could quickly become un-fun for players, which is something to consider.
Ultimately, TBS is doing both DC Legends and Marvel Universe back to back ... hopefully that brings a certain level of consistency where the sets 'sink up' in terms of power levels and the like.

I'd like to take this time to be both a forum troll AND a grammar nazi and point out that "sink" in that context should be "sync." Unless he was just being clever in combining the "downness-ness" of "sink" with the "uppiness" of "up."
Though it WAS embarrassing that EvilDave slipped and thought Yip was designing the whole set. Although who could blame him for WANTING Yip to design the whole set?

Also, that thought becomes more correct if you substitute "interesting" with "crap." Also, I'm aware that like the concept of "perfect" you can't really be "more correct." Unless you are about to take an SAT test, then you better be "more correct" than not, because that is what those are all about. Sorry, HS flashback.
Speaking of flashback, I thought this exchange was pretty amusing:
