I like how everyone is assuming something that isn't there, I love it.
carlosthedwarf: Rofl, who said I wanted to win more matches? I don't need to learn how to win against my friends at hobby league. You really don't know what your talking about, honestly. You assumed I said you didn't deserve to be paid. You assumed that I wanted something from realms. You assumed I was trying to make you look bad.
Kansasshoops: you proved my point, always hurts when the finger is pointed at you (and it really isn't). You assumed the same as carlos, and proved my point that this was going to be long and drawn out, and in the end no one wins, because I won't change your opinion and you won't change mine.
In the end people need to learn to ask questions. Look at my original post again and try to see what I am saying. Sigh, I said the quality is lower than before. More effort was put into it before. Never said you shouldn't get paid. Good Job realms, you prove how bad this site has become, we don't even talk about the game anymore, GG.

What a selective memory you have. Yes, you DID make solid points at the beginning of the post - I understand you don't like what is up on VsSystem.com. But then you cheapened your entire argument by throwing an insult at the writers. People who were behind you with your "we need better deck builders to write" argument (me, 'hoops), suddenly stopped supporting your cause because you felt the need to take a cheap shot at people who care about this game.

Trust me, RocketGurl, you could never make me look bad.
Your comment "What they pay them for that? What has the world come to." was slightly insulting. I didn't assume you were implying I didn't deserve to be paid. But I DID assume that you were insulting the writers on VsSystem.com, which you were. I called you on it. You got pissy. Now you're trying to back out of it by saying 'hoops and I are misunderstanding you. If you're going to talk trash, be man enough to stick to your guns or apologize for your rudeness.

Haha, I don't know how to moonwalk. You're trying to make it seem like I'm throwing a tantrum, when all I am is posting on a forum and your trying to make it look like I'm doing something I'm not. I said in a nice way, but now you can hear the blunt version. The current writers aren't good at writing Vs articles. When I get "pissy" you'll see me stop using capitalization, start using curse words, and call you names. But again it all comes down to this is a pointless arguement and...

I really don't want to start a long drawn out argument.
Argue all you want, I'll do the same, but I hope you know that no one can ever win in a battle of opinion. Doesn't matter if you think it's fact, when the other party believe in something, they will almost never change their mind. So here we are in the middle (hopefully a soon end) of another pointless discussion that will end up just getting the thread closed and no one will have won or lost anything. I just hope you know that you're the reason we are still arguing over nothing. You turned an opinion that you didn't like and kept trying to push your opinion onto me. It's not going to work, when I go to sleep tonight, I won't even second guess everything I said tonight. There may be consequences but that's a different story.
So the summary is:
I say "Can't believe they get paid" CtD says "thanks" I say "That's what I believe" CtD says "I don't like rudeness" I say "I'm not being rude, forget about it" CtD says "You're rude, and now pissy and not classy" I say "Yeah I'm wrong, your mad cause it's personal now, just drop it" CtD "Your making yourself look bad, I'm a hero" I say "You guys don't know what you're talking about, just drop it" CtD says "You're trying to change what you said, your not manning up, and you can't make me look bad, you're being rude" so full circle again and again. Seriously just drop it. I'm going to think this way because it's a free country. I said what I said, and now you can keep arguing, or you can just leave me be with the same opinion I started with. I don't think I was rude and believe in the same things I said, and that is final.
You have an opinion on the Vssystem.com writers. I have zero problem with that opinion. Nowhere have I written I have a problem with your opinion on VsSystem.com writers.
You insulted the VsSystem.com writers. I have a problem with that. You insulted me. Whatever. You insulted 'hoops. I have a problem with that.
Recap the situation any way you'd like. You've still crossed the line with your insults and should be man enough to apologize or stick to your guns. Trying to get out of this by constructing arguments that aren't there doesn't seem to be working for you.

Did you mean

The current writers aren't good at writing the sort of Vs articles that I want to see.
Because, and I admit I'm talking from a slightly entrenched viewpoint, I think the quality of the articles are, for the most part, very good. Are you saying that the articles are poorly written or that the articles are of no interest to you? If you're saying the latter, then fine, if you're saying the former, then I would disagree.
I have been staying out of this, because I knew it would come to this.
Ludin "Bubblemailer/RocketGurl" seems to only know one way to try to get things done: Sarcastic Insults. He answered his question in reverse. Insulting the current writers IS NOT the way to get Patrick a gig.
Patrick is the best of people, I would love to have him on the team. Too bad he has that kind of spokesman for his campaign.
To be fair to him, until the "they get paid for that" jibe, he was fairly level with his critique on other threads (plus he said one of my articles was "actually helpfull" )
As for the whole "getting paid" thing. I honestly would do it for nothing (although that's not an official declaration in any way Mr. Wachter). As it goes, by the time I get my cheques converted into Her Magesty's mighty Pound, factoring in conversion rates and banking fees, I get very little considering the time that is required. Too many people have taken writing a weekly column for granted. It is hard. Damn hard. Especially when you have to consider the time you must put in to researching your article each week (either playtime, tournaments, testing etc) and then the time it takes to put a couple thou words on a page. Plus you hae to do it every week. It is a lot harder than I ever thought it would be when I was on the other side of the fence.
I do believe that the official Vs System website should have content for everyone and I would like to see competitive articles re-introduced, but at the end of the day, we don't have the competitive market we used to.

Quoted for absolute, gold-plated, mother ####ing truth.
And I wouldn't get your hopes up. Ludin has never been able to stay civil for more than four posts in a row.
I have to say that, while I don't post often, I enjoy reading more than most people. I enjoy the comic-themed content as well as the more in-depth, complex strategy stuff.
I have read most of the articles posted on the various fansites and on both Metagame and VsSystem. Not all the articles "do it for me", but that's okay. We all come at the game with different ideas about what we want to see and what we want to get out of it.
That said, I have no doubt that anyone who took the time to formulate an article idea and then the time to work doing the actual writing, deserves to at least have that effort respected. I may not like it, heck no one may like it. That doesn't mean that work was not done and someone didn't put effort into it.
Unfortunately, with modern methods of opinion transfer (i.e. message boards, email, IM, etc.) there is a new anonymity to opinions which brings out a darkness in people they wouldn't express otherwise. Some people claim that the way they speak here is the way they speak everywhere else. This is almost always a bold-faced lie. Rarely would one speak to co-workers or family or complete strangers, the way they would to pseudo-strangers on the internet.
People put work into all kinds of things that show up on the internet. Some of it I like; a lot of it is crap, in my opinion. If I don't like it I load another page or go back to work. I would hope that most people would do the same.
I'm not sure why Patrick says "when we used to have featured writers". The only reason he stopped writing for us is because he never turned any articles in and ended up telling me he was just too busy. I'm not offended because I guess in the world of Vs. writing, vssystem.com is the "big leagues" or whatever, but the ending of writing stint for him here was his decision, not ours.
Outside of contests, we do pay for well-written professional articles. I have a preference for long standing relationships rather than "freelance" or whatever. There has just seems to have be a shortage of writers who can consistently deliver who do not already write for Vssystem.com, and I guess there's just so many things to write about, which is why kamiza isn't really writing for us anymore.
I haven't actively pursued new writers because we've kind of got the "podcast" niche thing going now.
