man......that was really poor quality for a call, paul is a calm guy though. i on the other hand would probably be kicked out and banned from ude events for doing something to that judge.
Basically, I played a Reality Gem targeting Bizarro World. From my understanding, you don't discard until the effect resolves - basically you lose nothing if you get PA'd.
The judge ruled that you have to discard to the Gem, and I figured maybe we tested wrong. Ironically, this misruling actually cost me the game as I discarded my lone seven. It's my fault that I was not more confident in my knowledge.
(The head judge later confirmed that what I thought was right.)
As for the Batman one, the head judge and eventually the floor judge both supported me on the Batman one. Since I was playing the EA version, I guess they floor judge that that the 'cannot play same effect' part was part of the negate and not the passive.
This event was the big coming out of Society. Mike's deck is insane. Man, the Riddler is so good...

I'll write this more in depth on my tournament report - probably be on realms Sunday -, but in the Bizarro match-up you need both disruption - HaB, Reality Gem, BGYT - and board prescence - Fate Artifacts and Batdowns.
Have a Blast does not consitute a win of itself regardless of how many times you replace their resource row.
I simply didn't draw enough of what I needed, if that make sense.
Guys... just to let you know... bad calls by judges will happen in ALL events. That is why there is an appeal process.
I am looking into what had happened but please realize that any situation has many sides to it and what may seem on the surface as a "bad" call may have some other details that heresay just does not cover.
And if any player received a bad ruling that cost them a game and it was not appealed... that was also partly their fault because I personally stressed appealing to the Head Judge on anything they felt was questionable during my announcements.

So what happened when you got the head judge involved? You mentioned that in your write-up but didn't say anything more about it.
That was Failure's write-up. I had him add it to the blog because it caused quite a stir on the game floor. I didn't witness it, since I was still playing. But I was very aware that something was going on. So when I finished my game, I asked Failure and, since he knew most of the story, I had him write it up.
Here is what I THINK happend afrterwards (all heresay): The head judge supported TDB's call, but the amount of time it took to get all this resolved hurt TDB's game considerably (they didn't "stop the clock" until the head judge finally showed up? Which was in the final moments of this issue.)
Again, I wasn't there - just trying to fill in the gaps based on "he said/she said".
