I have played Magic: The Gathering since 1995. The only years I didn't play magic were because of VS.
While I love Magic, it is an ugly hag of a sister compared to the VS Princess.
But, at least, I can get some hag play on a regular basis since it has been more and more difficult to get a date with the princess.
I have also played WoW, Star Wars TCG(wizards), Pokemon and a single game of LotR. Of those, the Star Wars TCG (the one with the three areas of play: character, ground, and space) was the most fun to play.
Was this recent? I have nearly a complete set of the game (missing several of the Dragonball Z cards). I even have all the promo cards. I tried teaching it to a friend once, but we quickly realized how badly the rules were written and how unbalanced the cards were. I didn't think there was anyone else who still remembered this game!
GI JOE is similar to the original Star Trek game, in that how you built your deck was the only important thing, in game decisions are frequently border line meaningless. It's a lot of fun and at most VS events I bring a pair decks with me and either teach new people or play with friends who already know.
I still have my super saiyan 4 Vegeta deck from GT and my awesome Blue Style Buu deck!
My other fav ccgs that i used to play (VS is all i play now) are Yu-Gi-Oh (Got too expensive), Magic (Got too big, too many damed cards), Yu-Yu-Hakusho, and second best next to VS is DBZ/GT!
Hey dude I'm not going to be at Gencon, but maybe Quackers will be I have to check. Either way, at the Next-er big event*, I'm totally bringing that deck with me.
*This assumes, of course, that there will be a next-er vs event on a large scale. Which mind you I sorta-expect.

40 something replies and no one even mentioned Spellfire? I know it's got a bad reputation, but as far as 3 player games go, it's one of the best! You have to be a rules lawyer deity to remember all the minutia/bluelines/interactions but probably no more so than any other poorly worded game. :)
As far as your standard 2-person CCGs I have WoW, Conan, Overpower, and ReCharge but never really got into any of them since Vs is SO much better.
GI Joe looked interesting when I demoed it way back then, but I was reluctant to try it out.
I'll second Marvel Ultimate Battles as a pretty good game for a quick round or two. I've heard a lot about the Highlander game, but have never bothered to buy any cards.
Ugh. Spoils. That game left a bitter BITTER taste in my mouth.
"Okay, I'll send this guy in who can't be blocked" ---me
"Okay, I'll make a blocking party of zero and add someone to the blocking party to block him" ---some guy I was playing against in a tournament
"Wait, but he's unblockable" ---me
"Judge!" ---guy
"Yeah, that's legal play in this awful game" ---Judge
*Takes deck and literally hurls it across the con* ---me
[/one of my favorite con stories] And that's how babies are made.
I'm sure we sound the same to people who don't know the rules of VS very well. I had a similar game once, The guy got angry because he thought the "can't rule (any effect that won't let you do something beats any effect that does let you do it) was stupid and needless. We obviously understand vs better, so we know why it works. You should cut the game some slack, I heard a lot of people liked the game. It just made the same mistakes VS made, times 10.
