So the Ms. Martian figure that people have waited 13 YEARS to get remade won't have shape change? I may be jumping the gun, but this is a new level of incompetence.
My word, this is a disaster. I've played the game for the last 8 years. I've seen some changes, and was fine to go along with them (anything we hated we could house rule *ahem* looking at backs of cards *ahem*). After yesterday's announcement I was definitely on the fence. But today pushed me over it. I'm done with playing organized HeroClix going forward. I run a small venue. But I have over 2,000 pieces. I'm perfectly happy to play with those. The folks at WizKids just seem to be so utterly clueless. Between the price hikes, the (specious) claim of improved sculpts, reduced rarity distributions, and now fundamental game mechanic and fundamental rules changes (ALL DURING A PANDEMIC!?!), I'm done. It's a shame because I've brought more than a dozen people into this game and each of us signed off today. Between all of us, we spend in excess of $15,000 annually on HeroClix. All flushed now. Maybe we'll go buy some Gamestop shares.

I agree this is a desperate try to survive pandemic times... Instead of so many crazy changes, they should make a cool online app to integrate with the tabletop figures... Maybe WW set could include redeem codes... IDK... anything except what they are actually trying to pull off...

They could had been honest about it. instead they lie about it with all the "feel bad" thing
That's a fair point. I try not to be doom and gloom about this. I think the key to WWE clix's success was the creation of new powers to fill the void left by stuff that didn't work (Pulse Wave, Flight, ETC). If we get new stuff inn the wonder woman set that fills a similar void it could work. My problem is that WWE Clix was a fairly small and self-contained experiment- can it work as the new paradigm for Clix going forward?
Hulk Hogan says, "Yeah, brother!" and Ric Flair gives an agreeable, "WOOOOO!"
Their explanations of why powers are being removed offers insight to how out of touch they are with the game. Super Strength very accurately portrays the way those characters fight in the comics and movies: occasionally smashing someone's face in with a dumpster but not welding it continually throughout a fight. Wizkids, however, thinks "bad cuz not used throughout entire game!!!!"
Furthermore, none of this, absolutely none of this actually helps new player retention if there aren't new players getting into the game. We need advertising, starter sets and tie-ins to the big movies to draw players in. Right now there are more people than ever who are into superheroes and the majority of them have never heard of Heroclix...

I don't understand how the app would work. What would you get for the codes?
I have three characters all do 2 damage. Each can use the power incapacitate. Going up against one character with the power of Invincible. WHAT HAPPENS?
I learned that incap was pushing damage when you can't get third token.
So I should just give up at that point?
To me pushing damage was always represented as normal people(Thugs, scientists you know normal). They can't fight like heroes, or villains. Now in the new rules they don't have a problem going toe to toe with them. Give them two actions. No problem!!
I hate this plan and hope wizkids wakes up and can separate background character from heroes and villains themselves.
They really don't get what made the game good in the first place.
If your goal is to make the game more accessible, limit special powers, traits, and things like improved move/target.
Don't go after standard powers! The entire point of the game is that the dial contains all the information! The less standard powers you have, the more you're going to need special powers to represent characters.

Picture this: Imagine a new player comes into play and has basic knowledge about the current Power and Abilities.
With a brand new and exiting app take a snapshot with his phone to the dial he is currently at, and get a dynamic cool explanation (short video) of what your character can do, maybe mixing comic drawings with reality.
IDK just an idea. The goal should be to make the game easier to understand instead of throwing away everything that makes this game great.
I've been trying to hold off on giving my opinion of the changes but I can't wait anymore. I initially hated everything about the day one announcement but got to where I accepted a lot of it but this...this is just too much. I'm a relatively new player having started back in Feb of last year so I'd still call myself a rookie at this and ideally WizKids audience with stuff like this. I can't stomach this. They're gutting the things I just learned about making a game that was more strategy than straight combat just a boring slugfest. If the goal is to simplify things then go after white power/traits/maybe team abilities, not the literal standard building blocks of what makes a piece. WizKids literally just increased the price for things three, THREE, weeks ago that now feel outdated. I rolled with it. SaV Absolute Carnage was horribly underprinted. I rolled with it. The Fantastic Four OP Kit didn't really get distributed and the Con EX for 2020 got horribly stunted. Again I rolled with it. I'm not sure I can with this. I've watched other games I loved gut themselves for the sake of "new players getting the feel bads" before and I've seen what happens then. I feel like the love I had for this game is leaving just as fast as I found it. I'm going to wait until we have all the changes available and maybe a set to try them but I'm heavily considering just bailing.
