How can you not like running a fig less than 30 points across the board? (check out that speed)
You can tie up a medic, block LoF for all those TK figs, run up onto the roof, etc.
And with Anaconda you get a 50 point fig that will tie up nearly everyone. And when she takes big damage she gets Incapacitate with a usable 8 attack.
These guys are turtle-busters.
And even if you run Heroes and Villains together, on many indoor maps you'll have to break through several walls to set up an attack with the Ultimates. And only 1 fig can always attack a figure that can use Outwit on him.
Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Black Widow are all outranged by Outwit. So they will have to move into counter-attack range. The Serpent Society members can make sure those Counter-attacks don't happen...
I was actually looking at it more along the lines of the TA as a whole, since Wild Cards are still a major part of the gameplay. The SS don’t really add too much there.
And I actually do like Sidewinder’s utility as basically the new Quicksilver. Anaconda’s not too bad, but I’m still not sold on her as the best use of points.
And face it. Princess Python is basically going to be a less-useful Sydney Savage. While I appreciate the first appearance of a member of the Ringmaster’s Circus of Crime in Heroclix, I’d honestly have preferred to see Ringmaster or Clown.
I can't believe everyone is missing the POWER thing about this fig . Think about it . Pair him up with a 75 point skull faced villain(who's in Universe) who has a 7 range , 12 attack , 9 movement , ... with STEALTH ??? Taskmaster Vet ...
The other bad thing is when you combine him with Batman TA in an Open game . Every wildcard (Legionaires , Doomies , Hellboy) has Phasing +Stealth . You're going to be left in a game where you're gonna have probably 1-2 actions moving your pieces around . In an indoor map ... with a turtle ... i don't like the looks of that .
And the most annoying thing ? He can cross two buildings and remain out of LOS . and still provide his Leadership and TA .
It seems to me that people can only get excited by 200 point figures that do 5 damage. For me, Sidewinder represents why heroclix is a fun game to play. True there is nothing outstanding about this character on his own,but that said, the game does not have characters working independently. This is a team affair and when analyzed in a team setting many figures become more than the sum of there parts(or powers). This is the case for Sidewinder, as he adds different levels of play to the game. The team aility on its own is fantastic. (I actually think the quality of game play was preseved by making it a power action.) Outside the TA we have a cheap leader, mobile fodder, and an ability to lend his TA to any wild card. So ya, on his own he seems lake luster compared to Thor or Superman, but he adds twice the game play those two do.
