And won't that be nice when they make a Storm with the Morlocks TA? Another ranged combat figure with a wasted TA. This isn't really a stand-out team ability to give to Wild Cards, either. How many Masters of Evil do you see on Wild Card abuse teams?
Oh well. There has to be some junk in every set, so that it can show up in half my boosters.
I'm afraid I have to disagree with all the naysayers. I pulled E Callisto during an Ultimates sealed touney and she was very effective. Running shot and Super Senses are a great combo.
For those who are worried about pieces that have seemingly useless TAs (Hulk+Ultimates, Callisto+Morlocks), picture these wildcard scenarios:
Hulk and a squad of Doombots, who can now ignore stealth
Callisto providing cover fire as Black Cat, Spider-Man, and Daredevil triple-tag-team an opponent.
Granted, by themselves these team abilities are useless on some characters. But Heroclix is a game where you play a team of figures, not just one. These pieces may very well have been created to inspire some creativity.
Its been said once, but it needs to be said again:
The LEADER of the Morlocks HAS NO LEADERSHIP!!! on any of her 3 versions. Thats my main gripe, I will still pick her up of course because......., you know..........stupid plastic crack addiction
Chuck Norris is the only person who can simultaneously hold and fire FIVE Uzis: One in each hand, one in each foot, and the 5th one he roundhouse-kicks into the air, so that it sprays bullets.
I can't wait to do the "Hunt for Marrow" team from Uncanny 325 in a 300 point game.
Vet Storm
Vet Colossus
Vet Wolverine
Vet Callisto
Theme teams are fun.
Oh, and think of her team ability as a bit of a deterrent for people to base her. If she gets based you can fly in support and give her a 12 attack against her opponent!!!
Life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.
Originally posted by dolemite199 So she pays for a TA that she is not really able to benefit from since she is a predominantly ranged piece. Furthermore, she can't really help her fellow Morlocks because she shouldn't be basing an opposing figure. Cool! So what is the best way to use?
I would say find her a good shooting position and then position 1 or 2 Morlocks/Wildcards adjacent. When someone comes in to hit her, she's covered by her guards.
In the endgame, move her out to finish off stragglers
Originally posted by Kaitouace Actually the most "current" version of Callisto has tentacles instead of arms thanks once again to Masque. Either way the point is more along the lines of: Why make a Callisto click that represents her for something like 6 issues as opposed to her classic look which represents the other 99.5% of her career?
And then of course there's the gameplay design which goes completely against the concept of her TA which makes you wonder why they even BOTHERED to make a Morlocks TA in the first place considering that besides Callisto there are MAYBE 5 other decent nameable Morlocks (not counting remakes of Storm and Marrow).
yep, my thoughts exactely !
why use the newer (uglier sculpts !) when you have perfectly fine good old sculpts to work with.
I still feel that the Morlocks should have gotten the MoE TA instead of this new one, it would have worked AND made sense gameplay-wise..
Callisto beinga prime candidate for CCE and turning out to be a ranged combattant... ?!
I suppose you could hold a fig with that Exp.Morlock (plasticity) while she shoots him...
Callisto, who has been one of the few (if not only) Morlocks to ever really be interesting or likeable, has been into what appears to be an unlikeable piece. This makes me think that when they make Tommy (lots of... um... phasing?), she will be the best piece ever!
Wizkids seems to be disappointing with this set. I'm an avid reader of Marvel Comics and have only read a few of DC, but I knew more of the people and looked forward to more of the people in Unleashed than I do for Ultimates.
It seemed that the sculpters were going for the classic or well-known looks on sculpts, but this sculpt, and the first Storm, and Angel, and Taskmaster, and so many others, do not follow that pattern.
As far as abilities go, this is a field were so much sense has been made in the past that is longer being brought to fruition. Callisto, in her early days, used her fighting prowess (which has to do with her mutant ability) in close combat fights. It wasn't until much later that she started to use guns... and even then, she didn't use them all that much. I actually expected something along the lines of her tentacled version, but I guess that version didn't see print until well after she was designed. This whole set looks very sub-standard.... I miss Clobberin' Time, the best set to date.
