I am in no way offended by any of the discussion. Everybody has different views and beliefs so it's interesting to hear everybody's different takes on the subject. I myself used to purposely get into conversations/arguments with my best friend about religion/politics because he was very informed on both subjects and I would learn a lot while talking to him yet he would never force his views on me...and he is VERY RELIGIOUS. He was raised Pentacostal so I am very used to being around people who have what they say, eat, date, wear, etc. dictated to them by their religion.
I'm absolutely fascinated by metaphysics and characterization, so I try to look at it from that angle. You can argue whether God does/doesn't exist until you're blue in the face, but the CHARACTER very much exists, and analysis thereof can provide some great insight into the modus operandi therein.

Pretty much my thoughts. I just dont like diving to deep into metaphysics on a forum of any sort, Get me a couple martinis and bring the topic up and prepare for some deep thought.
What Book do you have on your bedside table right now?
Oh, sure. The moment I "Weigh In" on a subject is right when you change the subject!
On my bedside table I have "A Game of Thrones" at the moment. On my headboard rests the rest of the series wating for me to FINALLY finish the book since I am a painfully slow reader.
Dngergrrl has the same book on her table. We have two copies of it thanks to a spare copy that TPChid had since he bought book one and then ended up buying the same box set that I have. She reads far more quickly than I do and has already surpassed me in the book and has only been reading it for a little over a week or two. She will be starting book two before the end of the week.

Cause ogre threads are known for holding onto one topic........
Im reading the first Book of the Cleric Quintet , its called Canticle. R.A Salvatore is the man.
True. If, however, this is throwing any noses out of joint (no judgment value there) please let me know and I can take the discussion off-thread.
Hmmm.
Well, without checking the mirror to see how my nose looks, I believe my profile, such as it is, remains the same as yesterday. I still have a face for radio!
But I'm reminded of one of the lessons I learned from my late father, sometime after he had instructed me on how to greet a man (with a firm handshake while looking the man straight in the eyes): avoid talking about religion or politics in the company of others --- unless you're in a house of worship or at a political club's meeting place, respectively.
In short, there's a time and place for everything. As with any other possible topic under the sun, the folks who post here will ultimately decide what's fit for discussion.
For what it's worth, I'd prefer not to see either discussed here --- certainly, not at any great length. There are other places on this site for certain kinds of discussion and, of course, PMs. But that's just me. Admittedly, I'm only one guy and I'll go with the flow, deciding for myself whether to continue reading or go elsewhere. That said, I'm not going to put anyone on my Ignore List simply because they may feel differently.
As we've seen since these Ogre threads started and developed -- some would say "changed" instead of "developed" -- over time, folks come and go. As with most things, each of us makes the decision whether this -- whatever "this" is -- is something that we enjoy enough to invest our time (if not money) in it.
With all due respect and not to be insulting to anyone, I tend to lean towards Mark Twain's line about how often, when it comes to religion and politics, a man's reasoning powers are not above the monkey's.
As always...just my two cents.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!

Oh, sure. I'm not one for discussing religion out of turn, but I figure character is fair game.
That said, there are some who are truly unable, for whatever reason, to differentiate between the two.
Still, glad to have had an engaging convo that died when it needed to.
