To offset Obamacare, some restaurants are charging a surcharge (1%-3%) that is to go towards their workers' healthcare, rather than raising menu prices, or making all their workers part-time.
I would respect them more if they just raised prices. Well, maybe not respect.

It should be complained to the owner.
Put your workers on part time is "cheat" the idea of the Obamacare. and put a surcharge for something they must do is abuse their customers.

A quick google search indicates this is a few restaraunts in Florida. Whatevs, Florida is horrible, anyway.
That being said, I don't care about it at all. If their employees are getting healthcare, and don't need to come in sick and get ME sick in the process, I'll pay the extra 50 cents.
I have played a number of games, Magic being among them, where this is simply not the case. I think Darq's suggestion makes more sense for mafia.
Also, this.
In MTG, choosing is exactly what targeting means. In fact if you cannot choose a legal target, the effect fizzles IIRC. I suspect that those without a MTG background do not use the word target to mean what it really means. Targeting is all about intent.

Screw Florida... This place sucks...
I wish I could live in a different state.

A few in LA as well.
Depends on my mood about how I feel about it. Most days I don't care. If people aren't being forced to go part time and can have some healthcare, yeah, I'm okay with helping my fellow human being. On my grumpy days I feel like I'm already paying a chunk for my -own- healthcare, why should I pay for someone else's too? Maybe the greedy Restaurant owners should shell out the money, blah blah, maybe they can't afford it ... have to close ... raise prices ......
I think the first attitude is a healthier and better one.
As far as the surcharge, just raise the prices. As a customer, I look at the price and decide whether I want the good or service. Don't advertise a price and then jack it up on me while playing the "but it's for our deliberately underpaid employees" card. I have no problem supporting healthcare, I have problems with false advertising.

Yes and no. You choose a target. But choose is completely separate. Let us say a card said, "Choose a color. Target creature has protection from the chosen color until end of turn." You target a creature, you don't target a color.
I have sent out all of the DS9 Mafia roles. If you don't have yours yet, please let me know. At this moment I am hoping to get the game up and running this very evening. Just note that tonight is Clix night and I prolly won't get to it until late. In other words, definitely PAST 10:00 PM.

Yes but it's all semantics. What are you doing when you select a color? Choosing. What are you doing when you select a "target?" Choosing.
Any questions?

Words are very well defined in Magic. It may be semantics, but they do mean different things. Protection from Black will prevent you from being targeted by black spells but will not prevent you from being chosen by something that just chooses. Magic has one of the best rulebooks when it comes to this kind of thing.
