It looks like this game is headed for a deadline shortly, so bear with me while I try to figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, y'all should tell me what the most important developments in this game have been so far and why I should care about them.
I'm just going to read the thread and spam y'all with my thoughts in real-time. I am unconcerned with context or later developments; this is all purely in-the-moment takes of whatever I see as I read.

A little vote pressure never hurt, but I like it better when the purpose and direction is clearer. This vote appears to be placed for the sake of participating in Operation: Apply Pressure and not because there's a real, personal interest in applying pressure.
I'm just posting this now to see if I did the spoiler correctly. To be continued.

We're all Santa and everyone's jumping in the pool of role claims. There was an apparent discrepancy in the reports of Silver Lantern and RenegadeRoy, so far people seem to be siding more with the Lantern. I think they've both done some questionable things, but I my vote is currently on Roy so that's where I'm leaning. There's a handful of players I am reading as town and a few jumbled up null reads.
I got some heat because of culture clash and MP has been a suspect because he's been a total question mark.
Totally your call. I do appreciate new perspectives on playing this game.
I'm concerned at the general lack of activity. Games with this voting style need higher participation and right now, several folks haven't even checked in and several more only gave the obligatory day 1 pleasantries.
Nice little thing here. The game was young and a few votes had been thrown out there, but Immortal_Raven was not satisfied. He wanted more. I like the urgency.

My hope is that by making lots of noise and putting pressure on people, they will have to respond. The more they respond, the more illuminating content the thread will have. Townies have more substance to dig through, baddies have fewer shadows to hide in.
Sloonei is well on-meta in Day 1. Promoting discussion and generating pressure are hallmarks of his town play and he looks the part early. He has proven to have some skill in mimicking this conduct as a bad guy, but not with perfect consistency.

Since we usually have several town info gatherers there is a decent chance of having some sort of actual info on D2, which can lead to a much less random and possible info-based pressure target.
What I think that some of the pro D1 pressurers do not understand (or do not care for if they do underdstand) is that gaining info on D1 arguably helps the mafia more than the town because the mafia start with the advantage of knowing who is not on their team. They may therefore be able to better leverage information, because they have more information.
Also, outting a townie D1, can give the Mafia or SK an idea of what the town theme is, which they do not always know, allowing them more time to come up with a fake claim. I do understand the mafia and SK have a job to do too and the game needs to be balanced so I am cool with some things going in their favor some of the time. The game just seems more casual and less intense with no D1 pressure, and I am perfectly ok with that. fwiw.
I note two early instances of Silver Lantern taking an opportunity to make a wordy post about game strategy and structure without really discussing a read on someone else. That's not ideal. I will grant that his clarity in discussing his strategic preference would represent a measure of WIFOM in the event that he is literally employing that strategy as a mafioso.

I'm also not sure talk makes it harder for baddies to hide night 1. We're typically pretty good at targeting low posters, so most players here know to speak up on day 1 and going forward, especially if they're scum.
What does "PR" stand for? Don't believe I've heard that here before.
Just a little pet point for me to muse over:
I've seen at least two instances of a new player entering a new Mafia environment, promoting an active and pressured Day 1 for the reasons Sloonei provided, only to be dissuaded/refuted by someone who eventually flipped mafia.
Sloonei may recall one instance: Roxy was bad in Economics Mafia with a very low post count after telling me that I was wrong about that. It also happened to me on Bulbagarden in a very similar circumstance.
Ah, got it. As others have said, in mostly every game here everyone has a power role. I actually don't think I've played a game where there were completely powerless roles.
Yes, that's more or less what I said. I suppose what I really meant was that day one talk is not a good gauge for catching scum, since scum are going to know how to play a day one phase. I wasn't really saying that day one talk is good or bad, just that it doesn't necessarily effect the mafia either way, as they typically know that staying silent=death. So, yes, day one pressure would be good if we knew who we were targeting was mafia, but we're just as likely to hit/expose the cop or reverse tracker or some other important info gatherer.
Early scum read.

change vote: No Lynch
*eyeball twitches violently*
I actually just noticed that "No lynch" was the winning vote for Day 1. Shameful. Disgusting. I will not stand for this. It already happened. Why? WHY?

Re: "Day one shenanigans aren't useful"
I think someone (Sloonei?) might have mentioned this but Day One can be super useful IN HINDSIGHT.
Specifically, our active Day One in Stranger Things had a mafia member on the chopping block and then votes fell away while a few players remained steady on the mafia member. When that player died and flipped scum, that should have told the town a lot about several people but that train was never spoken of after IR flipped.
Re: "I prefer pressure over Day One lynch" and "Day One pressure gives a roadmap to scum" and "We never actually lynch scum on Day One"
Self fulfilling prophecy. If you refuse to lynch and on pressure then you're never going to lynch scum. In Stranger things, we had two scummers and a survivor as lynch candidates Day One.
I wish this post would have existed earlier than it did.

I love lists of reads.
I don't love having no idea why they exist. I am also not thrilled with adamical only naming one townie while naming three scum -- he kept his voting options wide option.

This looks like an arbitrary goofball vote and Day 2 is no time for that.

I am no stranger to pressure votes, but around here it's not pressure votes, it's pressure wagons. Note to self.

I don't want contextual clues, I want stances.
Isolated thought without bothering to quote things: I like JOH.
