I swear you've made a Dakota North dial before...but damn if I can remember which set it would have been in...Daredevil set maybe...Or I could just be losing my mind.
I love the keyword shenanigans and the multiple dials, each one specializing in one aspect of being a private dick.
My favorite is the bonus points for having an opposing object equipped is a spot on take for the noir genre. I mean it says Maltese Falcon all the way.

That's A Terrible Plan Buckle Up, Guys, This Is Going To Take A While
So Now I Save Everyone Else
For Me, It Was My Best Friend
It's Kinda Nice Not Being The Only Spider-Person
I didn't think you meant the movie....EEEeeeeeeeeehhhh!
While Miles isn't my favorite of the young crop of heroes at Marvel he is a great character and I reallllly hope that Marvel doesn't make the same mistake they have with so many other legacy characters ( not as bad as DC, yikes! ).
Ok, Let's Do This One Last Time: Nice, frees up both the defense and Attack slots and lets Miles swing in and save the day with Passenger. I love a trait that fill in so much character with so little verbiage.
What's Up Danger?: What a neat little promotion mechanic!
Hey: Now THAT is a great finishing special.
Get Up, Spider-Man! Come On!: I love the persistence this gives Miles, it really feels like a hero origin in a dial.
He's a good kid and you've given him a worthy dial, good job sir.
i gotta be honest with you, i never cared for miles. UNTIL the movie. and then i became a fan. the movie did more than the 7 years of comics before it. it made him earnest, unsure, but filled with a great sense of responsibility that he couldn't ignore. i was floored by the movie. i had no expectations and it's a super rewatchable flick for the whole family that is just a really great film.
and hey, i got to rewatch it again with my kids while furiously typing quotes meticulously separated out by character to fill out flavor text
miles starts off with a very light, very rookie dial but if you can pull off the promotion mechanic (not STOP click on that part of the dial) with that cinematically driven (flying) "leap of faith" then he's proven to himself that he can do this and gets to step up with more verve. or you could just opt for the 75er from the getgo. that dial has a little defensive buildup even as the offense tapers off, but his sp for that last ditch kaboom to kingpin requires no attack roll . just be sure to summon your best uncle aaron baritone impression as you roll that d6 and give your opponent the "hey" . on a low roll, it can afford to translate that roll to dmg, but on the bigger i let it token the sucker as it immobilizes them. combined with his stealth, it'll not only send them flying, but prevent them from simply coming back or shooting back and give miles a breather.
'course on his last click you'll be more inclined to go for a swing in order to trigger that steal energy to set up another use of the STOP. since the film made such a big deal about spiderman always gets up, it became another thematic anchor for this subtheme to invest some parker character into the dials (even when they're not parkers ). speaking of, the invests the dial with the classic spidey package of webshooters and spider sense but i especially liked adding passenger: 1 to the dials to demonstrate their rescue-focus (just check the wp flavor texts) and also make this theme super mobile as they're able to carry one another all over the place
instead of using one of the many existing sculpts for miles, i reappropriate alex wilder with a paint job to really try and capture the cinematic look to miles. and glasses aside, man is it really really close!
I mean, how did you find this character? One appearance in a comic. I don't remember him from the classic Electric Company Spider-Man cartoon (great theme song).
This guy is no joke though. That webby immobile trait is impressive. Pair it with HSS and it's crazy good.
He's got some great powers right where you need them. This is balanced nicely by him being squishy. Thing is, you got to hit him. Traited SS is always a good go-to for Spidey. The shape change is a sweet twist to it.
I really like the damage track and the flavor text tells all you need to know about the issue he appeared in. Bad jokes beware.
the entire story was clearly written by a dad terrible jokes and they even lampshaded it
i can't take that much credit for the dial, going with the bizarro spiderman schtick, i simply took the quite famous handstand spidey and flipped it, updated the verbiage and put it to print. the webby-two is the largely original material. i came across this super obscure gem while prepping my doom set, looking through lists of doom allies and here this guy was. i shamefully didn't get him into the set despite wanting to, and then i came across timespinner while researching kang allies for my avengers forever set and shamefully wasn't able to fit him in there. so with one more go to go, i crammed them in here and the spidey subtheme quickly grew and grew so it totally worked out in the proper time. especially since into the spiderverse became a big deal here (as i'm posting them now) and believe it or not, ripley, but webby has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in the end credits (or is it webby two?..)
what i like about handstand spidey in reverse is this feel of real mobility, even with only sidestep as he gets to serve up some "punch" for free. and then it transitions into that heavier hitter hss/strenght/perplex stuff at the end instead of the beginning makes it feel more balanced imho
plus there's a certain irony in getting MoD ta that is no longer villainous wildcard, but now gets to be a slice of longevity as he goes to work. it kind of reminds me of how doom was like the main big bad on the '67 cartoon, a rivalry in the '60s comics a bit, too, before doom got too big in his britches to bother with the webhead

The speed track is interesting to me. The P/T up top curtesy of Kang means you're getting into position easily enough to spring your webbing traps. Then Stealth makes it all the better to web those pesky avengers. Not that you'll necessarily want to push off that top click of SS/SC.
yeah that's a bit of a sophie's choice. i traded off the sc for the stealth so there was a continuous sense of duplicity at work here. he's got potential with his smoke-cloud-as-webs, but to fight off the whole avengers, he'll need to play smart and sneaky, just like in the book. i think the p/t will be great for getting into optimal positioning in some hindering before pushing, so that his free smoke can always be used to stymie some poor fella and keep them out of his reach. or leach 'em with timey-wimey stuff before his dial ends off on an old school approach to spidey dials and the problem of his range value. i always liked low dmg cce/incap so as to give you close/range options that felt truer to his style. and i tapped into that with his sidestep to make either a fluid opportunity. and, of course, classic spidey ss comes out on those clicks to round it all out. good up close and afar
webman, "webby two" and timespinner could make a fun anti-spiderverse team with 20 points to spare

boom. that's exactly where it should be, but alas i hadn't made this lass til now. i wish i had thought to make her before now, but i'm glad i did here and some of those wrestling moves fit into the dial.
i had fun with this one. and the maltese falcon was 100% the vibe i was going for, thank you. as the private eye haute coture, i really wanted her to have an alternate win condition. i wanted her to feel like she's "hired on" for some side work and the two flavors that come in on those costs after the kw shenanigans was meant to make her feel contracted in. and if an unusual dial with fun mechanics gets her more than the cursory look 90% of sets get, then i've done her a service. the more obscure and forgotten need a little extra love to get attention. heck, brother voodoo became an avenger after his prime dial

Holy cow that's funny stuff. I just love this so much.
Two-minute warning is a great power also. This guy would be a lot of fun to play.
speaking of obscure and forgotten
well, not forgotten, but notoriously not respected. heck, he was pulling the rodney dangerfield routine in his own book:
crossbones totally ragged on him. and having reread his entire series in prep for this dial, yeah wow was it a cheese-fest. just some delightfully over the top early '90s moneygrab to a tee. this is actually where the POWERBOMB as it's known on the 'realms gets to come through in this set. more than the obvious wrestling, it's the they'll-never-make-'em guys that make intellectual property lawyers clammy that makes this set POWERBOMB imho. at least according to the uncle of my friend down the street that knows a guy that works for wk
for this dial, i was afraid i was trying to hard. i wanted it to ooze as much super-saturated over-the-top footballness as the series itself. even beyond the cheeky flavor text that is all about my style, i really wanted you to want to play him like he was playing a game of gridiron pigskin passing. he's going up and down the map to score those big hits, cheat some teammates for cheesy reasons and do whatever it takes to win the game.
his end dial can get a big power boost at the cost of burning out his dial and he'll enjoy the extra bonuses he gets when going for hail marys in starting areas. but that post-game sack (well, overtime instead of late hit ) i think will set him apart more than anything else on the dial. could literally be a game-changer. and beating your opponent with superpro is so much icing on the cake. they'll never live it down
Since we're being honest about characters I guess I should admit I've never gotten the wild popularity of Spider-Gwen.
I read her comic for a while and she's a good, fun character, but it never really clicked with me.
Alright, People, Let's Start From The Beginning One Last Time: If it ain't broke DON'T FIX IT!
No Matter How Many Times I Get Hit, I Always Get Back Up: See Above!
Sorry, It Was Just So Quiet: Hehehe, okay that's fun.
One questing, its total action tokens your opponent('s) has(have) cleared yes?
The real unique flavor of her dial is...well her dial!
I like her bouncy, running around and trying to keep her friends safe feel.
yeah X would be opposing clear, which can get quite big in a battle royale. it's a fun wink at the gag in the film, but gets to come across as the ol web-yank to scuttle those sneaky petes that are being too quiet.
and yeah, by this point i'm sure you're rightfully expecting the and and sp to be consistent in the dials (if not exactly in name) to help feel them more in the same vein. i wanted to emphasize their similarities so that the distinctions i make will pop more.
for gwen (and yeah, i'm with you, didn't get on the hype train, but i did like her in the movie) i emphasize her grace and speed and that lightning speed will let her zip in and out of the mobs while still being able to position well for her defend and empower to do their most work. she won't be passively hanging back, she gets to be in the thick of it. btw the last click is an easter egg with the four colors of her costume

Good thing he's rocking that traited Super Senses, I get the feeling that there's going to be a whole lot of dodging going on.

I know that's actually a good sculpt reuse, but I get the feeling Pete would resent that!

well, he was way flatter before he warped, after all . the best sculpt choice, honestly, i picked one up just to fill in for peter b . simply paint the booties foot colored, slap some gray sweatpants and make the top a more traditional spidey shirt and bob's your uncle. 'cause we know ben ain't any more, amirite? (too soon?). speaking of, i continue the consistencies in the subtheme with the wp flavor text being the person that passed that instill the great responsibility in each of them from that poignant chat in miles' room after uncle aaron died. that and the , , ball keeps on rolling.
peter b was a fun full-head dive into the self-loathing it's-all-on-my-shoulders aspects of peter's "parker luck" personality. what was great about it was how he turned it around (and still turned it on as need be, let me tell you). so i don't mind making him at 50/25 with some support to take miles under his wing while he shows the kid the ropes. the dial is about getting in there and getting the goober (or getting the goober away, as the case may be) to save the day. this is peter b with a mission. and the end dial he turns up the spice with his last-minute-only-takes-a-minute save. with the upswing to stats and the flurry, his STOP click is going to be extra fierce. but of course it should be, that's when he does his best work
the equipment swap, btw, is furthering his obi wan role. he's ready to do the setup work and keep the ball rolling as he plays pattycake and keepaway. being able to charge into an equip makes him far more likely to snag unclaimed gear (not to mention his ability to slap down the claimed stuff, too). and then it's just a matter of being in the right place to hand it over to a busier teammate handling business
i'm with you on the life-threatening intensity. need is a powerful motivator, after all. i think the TUC lends itself to that. when you're a team of wildcard without anything to wildcard, lets get an unorthodox solution in play. and like with the ff pack, this starter will include the TUC guaranteed. as well as the 7th slot incentivizer below:
ucwfs003 Unique Goober (light object) Equip: Any Unequip: Drop EFFECT: When this character is hit with an attack, modify the damage dealt -1 then unequip. // DOUBLE POWER: If this character occupies an opposing starting area, KO this object and all game elements KO'd before this object instead score 0 points. hahaha, yeah i loved that. he was awesome and the nick cage voice-acting made it even better . the over-the-top embracing of the noir's darker-edgier grit was glorious. i loved that line right before the battle in aunt may's sitting room. and boy howdy did it gloriously translate into clix. lose out on map choice but you still get to dance. i up the charge reach and grant stealth in it so as to turn your opponent's choice against them. the map won't be inhibiting peter as much as you thought, and let me tell ya, buddy, his dance cart is far from full
with the i reached for the color gag as he stared bewilderedly at the rubix cube trying to guess colors
i'm glad you like the sculpt reuse. it was a challenge to gather up some of these and make them viable without reaching for their existing sculpt (if i could). the wall-runner chase from sfsm is glorious but a bit developed for a starter pack. using fantomex with a black wash is about 90% there. i wasn't able to get the hat, unfortunately. i did look into crime master but the suit was wrong. fantomex fits most the bill, though, and getting all of these guys into players hands readily and easily is my goal. the first pass as chases? sure. but it's been awhile. like the squadron supreme in this set's ff, i'm trying to get the second-go-round for harder to collect themes much more attainable. and frankly, into the spiderverse as a starter would sell like hotcakes
