So did anyone pull anything exciting? What were the teams played?
Dammit, I need details!
My team:
Enchantress - 141
Phyla-Vell - 138
TOTAL - 279
Did quite well in my first game, earning 295 points. Double-Perplex was handy, although Phyla-Vell lost it soon enough after Loki got a very lucky hit on Enchantress. Enchantress tried and tried and tried to Mind Control Molly Hayes, but only hit Molly when I finally sid "screw it!" and went for a close combat punch. Eventually Enchantress hit the groud. On the other hand, once Phyla-Vell hit Hypersonic Speed she was unstoppable.
In the second round I faced Karnilla and Thor. I tried to set up some bait to bring Thor into Mind Control range, but Phyla Vell failed her Super Senses while Karnilla suucceeded in her Shape Change, so that didn't pan out. I did manage to take a good attack on Karnilla (Phyla Vell has decent damage in her end-dial) but it wasn't enough, considering Thor's easy strikes for 5 damage.
Ben's team:
Chase Stein - 45
Gertrude Yorkes and Old Lace - 54
Loki - 122
Molly - 43
Phalanx Soldier - 31
TOTAL - 295
Basically the femme Loki with some decent secondary attackers, but few mobility powers. I outranged it and could throw down more damage, and so defeated the team in game one; Molly was predictably hard to hit but also didn't get any attacks in herself. It did much better in game two versus Dylan's team (don't remember what was on it), and came in second on the night.
M.O.D.O.C.'s team:
Karnilla - 64
Thor - 226
TOTAL - 290
Destrpyed all that it encoutered. Thor just doesn't miss, and Karniulla actually becomes more dangerous as a support piece once she's damaged. Took out Sgt_Grimes' team (didn't get a close look at his final lineup) and my two-woman squad.
M.O.D.O.C. Jnr's team:
Heimdall - 149
Thorbuster - 140
TOTAL - 290
On paper this works really well (they're both immune to Running Shot!) but Paddy's rolls were... well, let's just say that it felt like you were with us in spirit, R! I believe that Dylan and Sgt_Grimes both defeated him, which he wasn't thrilled about; but hey, he'd already opened a godpack.
First place this week was M.O.D.O.C. (again!), and likewise I came in third (again!). Seeing a pattern here...
Next week, Thursday the 10th of December - Aliens and Spacemen!
400 point constructed tournament; four actions per turn.
Retirement is not in effect.
Two rounds, two battlefield conditions.
At least half (by points) of your force build must be aliens or characters from outer space.
Any Questions?
Prize Support: According to Mr_Nobody's revised schedule it should be Feat #101 (Blood Oath), some LEs/uniques, and cracked boosters ($5 contribution from each player to cover booster costs).
F101 Blood Oath
Prerequisite: Battle Fury or Blades/Claws/Fangs or Willpower
Choose a character. Before the beginning of the first turn, choose an opposing character. The character modifies its attack value by +1 when attacking the chosen opposing character.
When the character makes a successful close combat attack against the chosen opposing character and the attack roll is doubles, you can choose to treat the damage from the attack as penetrating damage. If you do, remove this from the game after the attack resolves.
First place this week was M.O.D.O.C., second was Sgt_Grimes, third was Jarret, and fourth was myself (by about ten points!).
Next week, Thursday the 17th of December - Gamma Rays!
300 point constructed tournament; three actions per turn.
Retirement is not in effect.
Two rounds, two battlefield conditions.
At the beginnng of the game, choose your highest-point character. This is your Gamma-Irradiated Hero. The chosen character always possesses Battle Fury, and has a damage value equal to the current round number.
Any Questions?
To clarify, if the highest-point character on your force is Batman, he'll have a damage value of 1 on your first turn and your opponent's first turn; a damage value of 2 on your second turn; and so on until the twelfth turn, at which time he'll have a damage value of 12. Scary!
Prize Support: LE102 Skull-Brother (appropriately enough, a Hulk villain for a Hulk-inspired tournament), some LEs/uniques, and cracked boosters ($5 contribution from each player to cover booster costs).
ha102 E Skull-Brother
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 0
Points: 75
Keywords: Robot, Scientist
First place this week was Than0seid! And welcome to Cap'n Dave, who played for the first time on Sunday and has come along to give us a run for our money (I got my victory against him on the last attack roll of turn twelve!).
Tonight was the last clix night for 2009, as the following two Thursdays we'll be breaking for the Christmas-New Year stretch. The first game of 2010 will be fairly straightforward so you can't possibly get it wrong:
Next year, Thursday the 7th of January - Comic-Accurate Teams!
400 point constructed tournament; four actions per turn.
Retirement is not in effect.
Two rounds, two battlefield conditions.
Your force must represent a comic-accurate team. We've all played this before, we know how it works.
Any Questions?
Prize Support: Mjolnir, some LEs/uniques, and cracked boosters ($5 contribution from each player to cover booster costs).
