Because as advanced a civilization as Krypton was, they couldn't design a fabric that could resist tearing without it looking like armor?
And they couldn't design armor without it looking like spandex (just with extra lines drawn on it)? To me, the absolute dumbest part of the new Superman costume is the armor. First, the idea that Superman would need to wear armor, second the idea that "Oh, there's no way a modern dude would dress up in that totally sissy-looking skin-tight spandex so we have to give him something else to wear", and third the idea that skin-tight armor (a) could exist and (b) is less sissy-looking than skin-tight spandex.
And, yeah, without the red shorts, he's not really Superman.
And, then, the dumb collar... here's what I find so Freakin' Dumb about the collar. I mean, sure, ANYTHING designed by Jim Lee looks dumb. But the collar. The only reason he has a collar on the costume is so EVERYBODY in the Justice League will have the exact same look (Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, even Wonder Woman who doesn't have a shirt that goes up to her neck)... except, of course, for HALF of the Justice League (Cyborg, Batman, Flash). So the Justice League guys don't have the exact same look. But they tried... and failed. But Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman didn't even get together and choose to wear the exact same collar. It's all just a really convenient and really stupid COINCIDENCE.
Sigh.
I always hate uniformity in a group of super-heroes (I hated it when they ruined the Legion costumes by putting stripes down the middle of them all), especially when those heroes are individual heroes who have a life outside the group. It's acceptable for people like the X-Men or New Mutants to all have the same costume because they can't go off and fight crime on their own. But the Justice League SHOULD be better than that.
But that's what you get when you let someone from those AWFUL 90's comics take charge of costume designs. Sigh. I only stuck with DC through the 90s (while dropping most Marvel books) because they weren't making those 90s Marvel and 90s Image mistakes. But they ARE now. So, goodbye DC! No more Disease comics for me. (Except the ones that weren't rebooted.)

Awesome! I finally found a fellow Bloodlines fan!
As for the collar, it really reminds me of the futuristic business suits the execs were wearing during the deposition scene at the beginning of Aliens.
I won't look at your dial-on-card, I don't look at my own, and you don't need to see my DOC, ever. Otherwise, we're not playing HeroClix.
Wait, wait, wait...."big rukus with the distributor Alliance,..."? That sounds like a story for now! Does this impact Heroclix in anyway?
My god man, don't just leave us in suspense here!
Between our store and Alliance, not TW and Alliance. Nothing huge, but when you are trying to open your account and no one calls you in two months or knows who you are when you try to call for pricing, it's a problem. THEN when the same rep who you talk to on the show floor neglects to tell you of the giveaway they did for a bunch of free merchandise... Don't know why they laughed when I told them I wanted the Doctor Manhattan fig they had on the floor as an I'm sorry present...
I honestly cannot say anything negative about all of the product coming out from both companies. I cannot for the life of me understand the complaining about the quality product coming out. The quantity of releases is a bit rough around the edges, but hey, they're a company trying to make money, and they are hearing a lot of complaints about, 'where's _____, or why didn't they make _____?'. They are IMHO, trying to push a lot of product out to match the demands, and I think slowly, they're starting to catch up to the complaints.
My bank account may be a bit emptier because of all of the product I've been buying, but I'm MORE than happy to be getting more of the game I love to collect and play. I REMEMBER WHEN HEROCLIX WAS OUT OF BUSINESS!!! I really don't want that to happen again. I've made a number of good, new friends because of this plastic crack addiction, and for that I'm also grateful.
The news and pictures I've seen over the past few days has validated my trust and belief in the company that took over.
Everything I saw, thanks to all who relayed pictures and info, excited me as a player and collector. And that included that ridiculous Batmobile!!!
Sorry for the rant, just needed to get that out... Whew!
Well, final day of the GTS. Wiz-kids left yesterday, the poor guy running the GG clix table nearly had a heart attack when I said SS wanted to come home with me... he ran back over and did a count when I walked off.
(There was also a big rukus with the distributor Alliance, but thats a story for later.
I think the guy running that fast forces table was a little wound up. The guy running the Star Trek table talked too much. Of course, they were switching around, so who knows who was doing what and when.
The Beta Ray Bill and Silver Surfer sculpts are terrific! The Nova one is pretty cool, but I'd like to be able to see his legs in the swoosh, and he seemed to be too small when compared to the others.
What do you hate about the new Superman costume? I ask because this is the one costume that DC was legally required to change.
I'm glad that the rumors of "DC Heroclix will only feature nu52" are done. I think DC and Wizkids are smart enough to know that mining from both modern and classic/older costumes is the way to go.

Oh for crying out loud...
Where does this stuff come from?
DC is under no legal obligation to change anything. They HAVE argued in court that Superman's costume, etc. have changed over the years, thus the value of original creators' contributions have diminished over time, but that is not REMOTELY the same as anything said above. They MAY have changed the costume to enhance those claims, which is nothing at all like being legally required to change 20% of the costume or whatever weirdness is being spouted above. Or they may have changed the costume because they periodically update stuff !shock!
